Chapter 18 - Neito's Weakpoint

A whole week had passed since Neito copied the quirks of Toga and Twice. Today was the big day—he was finally leaving for overseas.

Hana Monoma, Neito's mother, was crying. She was very worried and kept telling him what he should do and what he should avoid while he was away.

"Mom, I understand," Neito said softly, trying to calm her down. "I'll be fine. Teacher Thirteen will look after me. She's an adult, so please don't worry."

Hana glanced over at Space Hero Thirteen, who was standing nearby in her black-and-white pressure suit. She looked a little stiff and unsure. Hana turned away and frowned.

"She's only a low-ranked hero... How much help can she really be?"

Thirteen felt a sting of sadness inside, but she said nothing. After all, this was Neito's mother. Even though the words hurt, she had been through worse — both in her body and her heart.

Just as Hana was about to say more, Shibasaki stepped in to stop her.

"Hey, give Thirteen a break," he said kindly. "She's Neito's legal bodyguard and a pro hero with a powerful black hole quirk. Neito is just going to study at the U.A. branch overseas, so he'll be fine."

"Now, let him go — he's already late."

Hana looked at Neito one last time and gave him a long, tight hug. Neito smiled gently and pulled away.

Toga walked beside him, her usual creepy grin on her face. She waved happily at Hana and Shibasaki. Only Shibasaki waved back.

Hana just scowled.

"She's the girl who ran away from home just to follow my son," she muttered quietly. "And she drinks blood. What a charming travel companion…"

Whoooom

The engines of the private jet started with a loud roar. Hana waved quickly at Neito, tears shining in her eyes. She didn't turn away until his smiling face disappeared inside the plane.

"He's gone... We're alone again..."

Hana sighed deeply. Shibasaki shook his head but gently put a hand on her shoulder.

"It's okay," he said softly. "Neito will study at the U.A. branch overseas. He might even get to do an internship under their number one hero. This is a big step for his future."

"He'll be safe. You don't need to feel so sad."

Hana nodded slowly. She was starting to understand. Shibasaki smiled to cheer her up.

"Besides, Neito wouldn't want you to be so down. Look on the bright side — we finally get some time for ourselves. It's been a long time."

Hana pouted as they walked.

"But I'm so used to having Neito around... It doesn't feel right without him running through the dorm."

Shibasaki smiled.

"If you want a child running around, I can fix that pretty fast."

Hana rolled her eyes but smiled shyly.

"We're in public!"

Shibasaki pulled her closer and whispered, "We can go somewhere private if you want."

Hana blushed but thought about it.

"You! Have some shame."

Still, she followed him toward the medical center.

Shibasaki raised an eyebrow.

"Why are we going to the medical center?"

Hana said quietly, "For protection..."

Shibasaki kept walking.

"We don't need that."

"Why not?"

"Because those supplies aren't good for the environment. I'm trying to help save it."

Hana stared at him, speechless. Then she sighed.

"…Fine. You win."

The two walked together, arms linked, thinking about different things. Meanwhile, the jet flew high into the clouds.

Inside the plane, Neito sat with his arms crossed and eyes closed. His face didn't look peaceful.

Toga noticed.

"What's wrong, Neito-kun?"

Neito opened one eye and sighed.

"…Nothing. I just have a feeling I might have a sibling when I get back."

Toga blinked, surprised.

"Huh? That's a strange thing to say."

Neito closed his eyes again and said nothing more. Toga guessed it was one of his strange thoughts.

Thirteen, however, understood better. She knew about Neito's family, and she thought it might be true.

'He doesn't want to talk now. I'll start the safety check,' she thought.

Thirteen quietly scanned the plane with her equipment, checking every corner for danger. But Hana's words stayed in her mind.

Toga leaned closer to Neito and twirled a strand of her hair.

"You know, it's so cool you let me come with you. I did run away from home just to be near you."

Neito didn't answer, but a small twitch appeared at the corner of his lips — maybe the start of a smile.

His eyes stayed closed, but his mind was busy thinking.

'Nezu once told me that if I ever had a sibling, there was a chance they might have a quirk that is the opposite of mine — like All For One and One For All.'

He frowned a little.

'All For One takes quirks, and One For All gives quirks. Both come from the same family line. I can copy quirks… but will my sibling have an opposite or mirror ability?'

His eyes shined for a moment, then he shook his head.

'It's only a possibility. Nothing is certain.'

But quirks often run in families. Nezu, who is also a High Spec user like me, studied this deeply.

'Nezu said I should prepare for the worst. He even suggested neutralizing my parents. He called that the best "preventive measure."'

Neito's face darkened.

'That's crazy. I won't hurt them over a maybe.'

Nezu agreed to wait and let things happen naturally, leaving the choice to me.

'He's testing me, to see if I will become weak because of my feelings.'

Neito knew that All Might and Nezu had no family ties, which made them stronger.

'So I have to decide — will I let my family be a weakness, or turn them into my strength?'

He tapped the armrest with his finger, lost in thought.

"A sibling…" he said softly.

Toga giggled.

"Talking to yourself again?"

"Maybe," Neito said.

Toga leaned closer.

"If you are worried about your sibling, I'll just stab them for you."

Neito gave a small smirk.

"How comforting."

Right now, there were more important things.

He was on his way to meet the wielder of New Order.

One mistake... and he might lose the chance forever.

Neito opened his eyes, sharp and focused.

"No more daydreaming."
