Back at the home base, Jason was in his study. Jason was monitoring everything that was going inside the base. Julia was at the training hall, doing her regular training.
Suddenly Julia collapsed. The people at the training hall took her to the physician at the base. Jason also rushed to the physician's room.
"What happened?" Jason asked.
"Hard to tell. Her vitals are all normal. Maybe it has something to do with her awakening. But we may need to do more tests to confirm that," said Reina, one of the physicians at the home base.
"When will she wake up?"
"It could also be fatigue which caused her to collapse all of a sudden. You sure you aren't overworking her?"
"I..."
"It's not my place to give you advice. But as her physician I have to say it to the person she spends most of the time with that she is a girl after all. You should pay a bit more attention."
"What she feels is just gratitude."
" *sign* If you are smart enough to think that then you should also know that those feelings are what works as the trigger and then become permanent."
"...."
"It's alright. You are still young after all. We all know how much you care about your own people and how much of a burden you are carrying. Most of us here owe their lives to you. As companions on the same boat, we will point out the small details that you might sometimes miss. So no need to feel down."
"Let me know when she wakes up."
"Will do."
Jason then went back to his study. For some reasons Jason wanted to avoid the conversation on that specific topic as much as possible. Even Reina was able to sense that.
The next day, Julia hadn't woken up yet. Except for Abbey and Fredrick, the others were at the port base training their powers.
Jason again went to Reina to check on Julia.
"Shouldn't she be awake by now?" Jason asked.
"We... we are sorry. We don't know what's going on exactly. Her vitals are still normal," said Reina.
"Tsk..."
That was the very first time the physicians in the room saw the worried look on Jason's face. Most of them wanted to comfort him but they were feeling a bit uneasy to do so.
"Don't worry. We will make sure nothing happens to her," said Reina.
"Alright..." Jason turned around to leave the room.
Suddenly the room became dark. And the very next moment it was filled with light that everything around them turned white. The interval between the two states became shorter and shorter and most of the physicians blacked out from the continuous blinking of light and darkness. All alarms were sounded. Greg and the other researchers rushed there but just like the case with the shadow curtain of Yosef, they couldn't get close to the perimeter.
"GIVE ME THE SCALPEL QUICK," shouted Jason.
Only Reina didn't lose her consciousness along with Jason.
"HERE," Reina handed the scalpel to Jason that was inside her pocket.
"BUT WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH IT? PLEASE DON'T DO WHAT I AM THINKING YOU WILL DO," said Reina.
"THERE'S NO TIME AND I AM NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES," said Jason as he made a small cut on his left palm and let a few drops of his blood drop on the ground.
Suddenly the phenomenon stopped. Even the power supply to the base was cut off for a while and then the backup generators kicked in.
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?" Greg shouted at Jason after he and the others entered the room.
"It was the only thing that could have been done," said Jason in a lower voice while panting.
Some of the researchers took Julia to put her inside the stasis chamber and some of the men took the researchers who blanked out to their rooms. Meanwhile, Reina was patching up Jason's cut on his palm.
"We could have just called Yosef to come and contain her," said Greg.
"And how long would that have taken?" asked Jason.
"At least you wouldn't have to lose your blood. Did you forget, it takes around 5 years for your body to produce new blood cells unlike us. Each drop of your blood can't be even measured in value."
"I know."
"Then why?"
"I didn't want to take any chances."
" *sigh*, Dr. Reina, can you give us a few minutes to speak alone."
"Ok," said Reina and left the room.
"Do you think I don't know why you did that?"
"Then why did you ask?"
"When it comes to emotions, you are just deceiving yourself."
"...."
"I know back in Spain you also sent a vial filled with your blood with Julia's team without telling me."
"But it wasn't used."
"That doesn't make any difference."
"If you are going to lecture me, then go ahead."
"As your uncle, I know that won't work. I have called Yosef. He will be here in a few hours. If something like that happens again, we think he will be able to contain it."
"He alone won't be able to do it."
"What makes you say that?"
"Julia's primary element will be darkness as we all know. Just like Yosef. We can't be sure if he will be able to contain the same element as his. And that's not all. You guys have witnessed it too, didn't you?"
"You are thinking she might possess more than one element?"
"Thinking rationally, that shouldn't be possible. Even the Chronicles didn't mention anything like that. But from what we just saw, we can't root out the possibility yet."
