Chapter 17 - Hostage

Tension was at an all time high. Amatesa's group were turning against Crescent, who stood firmly that she had nothing to do with the attack. Tetsuya's group was on a head start to find Lea. However neither side has heard directly from Ryuu. There are still water spirals with the people inside slowly dying as they have no way to escape.

Lea was still in a cage. Barely big enough for her to move around in, yet was sealing any attempt she could try to communicate besides the pendant. She was in a dungeon, it was cold and bare. She was still in her dragon outfit but it was dirty and messy. It has been stretch out from the men trying to tear it off of her, but it was made to prevent being ripped or cut. After she got done crying for what felt like an eternity, she looked around and saw other kids. They were all very young, no older than five. They were just as scared as she was and they witness the whole act. The kids were cold and Shivering as there was no heating to protect from the cold. This location much further north and in a place where it regularly snows year around with little to no sunlight. Lea was unbothered by the cold. Her home was always at a cold temperature as that's what dragons prefer. The other children were staring at Lea as they weren't sure what she was. They thought a baby dragon was stolen.

One voice broke the silence. "Hello? Dragon?" A little boy said in a shaky voice. Lea however couldn't understand as she's used to the beast language. She tried signing "Hello" to him but none of the kids knew what she was doing. Some thought she was casting a spell with her hand motions and started fearing her. Lea noticing, stopped trying to communicate and just curled up into a ball. She didn't want to have the other kids be afraid of her.

Nightfall approached. Lea could tell because the temperature dropped dramatically. One of the kids managed to draw a casting spell outside of his cage to summon a small fire. It was a beginner spell, so the flame wasn't large but it was a source of heat for the night. The other kids were trying to make one as well, but their magic reserves were dried out. Lea drew the same circle but having a bigger magic pool, created a much bigger fire. It lit up the room. The other kids faces were smiling as they felt a huge wave of warmth. The fire was still contained by the casting circle to prevent it from spreading. One of the guards noticed the magic being used and came to the room. As he came in, both fires immediately went out and everyone went back to looking sad. The guard didn't look hard around the room and left out again. After some time had passed, Lea started another fire to keep everyone warm.

The next morning, there was food delivered. Potatoes and butter. Just enough to curve the hunger and nothing else. The guards would let each child out one at a time to use the bathroom and then put them back in so the next could go. When it is Lea's turn, they handcuffed her and escorted her. This was an attempt to keep her from using any magic. However, she was still in her dragon suit and it wasn't made with an exit in mind. It was made to absorb liquids for accidents. She instead just looked around at her surroundings. What she saw outside shocked her though. It was pure whiteness. The snow and a magical veil made perceiving anything far away impossible. That's when it really sunk in, that she was not going home.
