The weather in Astro, the land where Lea was kidnapped, has always been a cold and frigid land. Constant snow blankets the area. With different animals hiding in the white field, any society built here has to be tightly connected. Being kicked out is a death sentence as no one could survive even four hours in the harsh weather without proper assistance. This was the weather for as long as history has been recorded for the land. Until today. Today, there was a new phenomenon occurred. Rain. The weather that has always been known for its snow, is vanishing. All at the appearance, of one being.
Ryuu is currently floating over head. The town is surrounded by large walls to keep intruders away, but the dragons simply fly above it. Soon, the snow starts to shifts into water. Lightning strikes in the air. The wind rushes. The people of the land start panicking. They have never seen weather conditions such as these. Their outfits that would repel the snow, is now absorbing the water and weighing them down. Each dragon flew to different parts of the large kingdom. All looking for Lea to appear.
Lea was able to sense the drastic change in the weather. She knew the room she was in would flood. She casted temporary spells on the other kids to allow then to breathe underwater for an hour. Though they didnt immediately recognize as they were all panicking over the drastic change of weather. Water already sipping in the room that was built to hold back the snow but not water.
The castles defenses were not without preparations. They were slowed by the change of weather but the magical units all came prepared to fight. Mages with different specialties stood on buildings or summoned magical mounts to fly on. This kingdom didn't specialize in hand to hand combat. However, they were prepared for magical assaults. The mages started chanting spells to bring the dragons down. In preparation, they had gravity and lightning spells to counter the dragons. Lightning to use with the storm, and gravity to hinder their movement. Ryuu was already prepared for that. He noticed the warriors from earlier used gravity magic, and lightning is often used against him as a water specialist. He had grass use a floating spell to counteract the gravity magic if used against them. Ryuu has perfect control over water, any lightning circulating can be routed elsewhere as it flows in his water and he can control where it goes.
As the dragons took to their positions, the soldiers were confused on why their spells were being routed. The gravity magic from multiple mages weren't binding, and the lightning magic would disappear or bounce back and shock them. The soldiers panicked as they weren't prepared for this defense from the dragons.
Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. In an instant, the clouds dissipated revealing the night sky with stars out. Then a heavy pressure was felt, bringing all the dragons other than Ryuu to the ground. Though Ryuu did feel the immense pressure, he stood up against it. Luna then walked from the center building, the tallest building with a glass ceiling. The moon rays shined directly on her, enhancing her glow and strength. Ryuu proceeded to descend slowly and transform back to his human form to inquire about Lea and why she was kidnapped.
"Bring me Lea right now, and no one else will have to die." Ryuu said bluntly.
"How rude, you storm my castle and start making demands. Shouldn't expect anything from a filthy swamp dragon. You're so disgusting, you somehow brought your disgusting water with you. You have no etiquette whatsoever!" The queen responded.
"You charge into MY sanctuary, disturb my peace, kidnap my family and think I owe you respect? I'll slow your roast your corpse without a second thought. Now. Where. Is. Lea?" Ryuu growled as he approached the queen getting into her face. The queen not breaking eye contact glared back. Everyone around them grew silent. Whoever made a move, would determine the next course of action. Ryuu towered over the queen. He stood almost a foot over head, he had his wings stretched out and stared daggers into her eyes. The queen had a condescending smirk on her face. She was laughing on the inside and her face had that written across it. She came out in a large, extravagant dress, as if she knew she wouldn't be in danger. Just as Ryuu was about to snap, angered by this woman's lack of concern for the situation, a voice was heard.
"Mister dragon, Lea is right here." The chambers that contained the kids and Lea had flooded and the bubbles used to shield everyone allowed them to break out unharmed by the water. Lea went running to Ryuu and jumped in his arms as Luna took a few steps back. Ryuu's anger almost completely vanish once he saw that she was safe and alive. The kids she helped all ran under Ryuu as well. They were afraid of the queen as she had them locked up and scheduled for a sacrifice.
"Oh look, your muddy elf found you. You monsters do love to stick up for each other don't you." Luna said mockingly as she covered her mouth with a fan. The fan had the Crescent moon embroidered on it. "I should have you all executed for this act."
"Some nerve. You attacked us, kidnapped her, and have the audacity to act as if we're not justified? It's clear you don't value your life or those around you." Ryuu started to summon a storm. Clouds began to fight for space in the sky. While the moon light fought back at breaking up the space. Whichever mage dominated the zone, would walk away the Victor. Though they appeared to be evenly matched in magic, Ryuu slowly began to approach her with a bloodlust. His hands shaping into claws and his muscles growing underneath his cloak.
Lea grabbed at his leg. She just wanted to go home. Ryuu could see it in her eyes, she didn't want to see anyone die here. The other dragons came to back up Ryuu and stood with him, as soldiers and a large armored warrior came to the queen's side. Both sides looked each other down. No words exchanged.
Rae had started a teleportation spell. It was a 1 way gate back to a set location near Ryuu's territory. As the group started to teleport away, Luna started laughing. Her true target was on the way, but without a means to teleport away. Ryuu was confused on why she was laughing as he and the other dragons destroyed several buildings and even took the lives of several soldiers. He thought she went insane.
The group returned back, now with way more over head than anticipated. Ryuu looked at Rae. "We should have slaughtered them. I don't know what she was planning, but her confidence in the situation tells me everything went according to her plan. Lea wasn't in danger. Why did you bring us back?"
"My instincts told me, we weren't at an advantage. YOU may have lived and walked away, but if our goal was to bring Lea back safely, that was the best action. You two were almost evenly matched, I'm sure you would have won, but there would have been a trade off. I could sense that there were some powerful spells that were pseudo engaged waiting to be fired. I was thinking about everyone involved and this was the best course of action. I apologize if my actions went against your wishes." Rae said to Ryuu.
"We can always go back and slaughter them. You were in charge of our escape and you did your job. I'm not mad at you. I'm happy we suffered minimum from that. I'm sure it teleport back, caused some noise. The leader of the village should be coming to greet us shortly. This cave is far from the land I own, but it always alert that village just in case. We can regroup and travel again to finish the job. We did set up a station at that forest we landed in, we can return there in two days." Ryuu said as they left a sapphire filled cave. It has a circle for the teleportation ring and sapphires rocks all over. The cave has an abundance of magic coming from it. However, when they left the cave it appeared as if they walked out of a tree in a forest. The group was walking through the forest when they were met by the doctor and Galamene.
"Lord Sapphire, you returned. You rescued Lea? That's great. Do you need me to look after anything for you?" The doctor, also known as chief, asked.
"See to these young kids. I believe they're all human, but they came with Lea. I'm not sure the story but they didn't want to go their queen and instead ran underneath me, like they knew me. Let's get them some new clothes and food to eat. They look like they are about to die in any minute from hunger." Ryuu said to the chief.
The kids' eyes all lit up. They were getting clothes and food and this stranger didn't even know them. They were afraid cause he was a dragon but they followed Lea and ended up safe. "Come with me kids. Everyone calls me Doctor here. Like you, I was abandoned by my people. But lord sapphire is a gracious man who opens his home to us. You'll get a second chance at life here. We may not all look human at the village, but you'll be accepted with love and kindness."
"While you help them, I'm going back to restore a different cave for us. And I want to make sure Lea is OK." He picked up Lea and placed her on his back between his wings and she clutched on as they walked around the forest together.
"We just missed them. I saw the teleport ring from Rae. She went back home. I'm guessing they have Lea. It definitely looks like they were here, there's water everywhere and buildings are destroyed. But. Why are these soldiers and mages still on guard. Were they expecting us?" Chel asked their group flew over the castle walls.
"All according to the stars. They never lie." Luna smirked as she saw the dragon floating above and saw Amatesa on back.
