Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 - Karyu

In a place near a small village known as Holy Spirit Village, a seemingly five- or six-year-old boy could be seen standing quietly as he observed his surroundings. His eyes wandered across the unfamiliar landscape, taking in everything around him, while a bewildered yet excited expression remained plastered across his young face.

"I really can travel to another world."

The boy's voice was filled with both surprise and excitement.

He was none other than Lev, who had just arrived in an entirely new world with a completely new body. For a while, he simply stood there, taking in the unfamiliar scenery and appreciating the feeling of actually being there. After all, this was his first time setting foot in a world that, until now, had only existed within stories.

Eventually, his attention shifted toward his own body.

A while ago, when he was still inside the white room, Lev had modified his body back to the age of six after realizing just how young and small his new body had become. He had also filled in some information regarding his parents and fabricated a suitable history for himself. Finally, he had decided to transfer his body directly to Holy Spirit Village—the very place where everything had begun.

"Well, there's no point in staying idle here. I need to get going. I want to see just how wonderful this world really is."

Lev smiled as he looked toward the village ahead.

Yes.

The first world he had decided to conquer was the world of Douluo Dalu—a world that he had once only been able to read about and watch from the safety of his previous life.

Now, he was actually here.

The thought alone made his heart race with anticipation.

After calming himself down, Lev was just about to take his first step toward the village when, suddenly—

[World-Level Quest Triggered.]

[World Description: The Douluo Dalu World has been categorized as one of the most dangerous worlds within the boundless sky. It is a world inhabited by magical beasts and powerful cultivators, where wars and conflicts can be found throughout the continent. However, despite its dangers, the Douluo Dalu World is also considered one of the most beautiful worlds to live in.]

[Quest Objective: Unify the Mainland and Reign Over the God Realm.]

[Rewards: New Feature—Class, Class Change Card, 5,000,000,000 True God Coins, World Ticket ×10.]

[Note: The Host must complete the quest before he can return to Earth.]

'So, this is the quest I need to complete.'

Lev fell silent for a moment as he considered the objective.

'Unifying the mainland is something I've already thought about. But the God Realm... that's going to take considerably more time. If I want to reign over the God Realm, I'll probably have to deal with those beings above as well.'

The thought made things considerably more troublesome.

Yet, instead of feeling intimidated, the corners of Lev's lips slowly curled upward.

'This is tricky... but why am I smiling just thinking about it?'

"Heh..."

Lev couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

Rather than feeling pressured by the enormous task before him, he found himself strangely excited.

After all, what could be more interesting than conquering an entire world?

He thought about the quest for a while longer before eventually setting it aside. There was no point in worrying about conquering the mainland or dealing with the God Realm just yet.

Before anything else, he needed to awaken his Martial Soul.

With that thought in mind, Lev continued toward the center of Holy Spirit Village.

Truth be told, Spirit Hall branches could be found throughout the continent, and there were plenty of places where he could have undergone his awakening. However, Lev had deliberately chosen this village for a reason.

This was where everything had started.

It didn't take long before Lev finally arrived at his destination.

Looking around, he found the village to be rather ordinary. There was nothing particularly special about it—just a simple village that looked much like the countless others scattered across the continent.

Lev quietly appreciated the scenery for a moment before shifting his attention toward the group of children gathered nearby.

Without saying anything, he walked over and stood behind the other children, patiently waiting for the event that was about to unfold.

The Spirit Awakening Ceremony was about to begin.

While waiting, Lev continued looking around as if he were searching for someone. His eyes moved from one person to another, carefully observing everyone he came across.

Then, he finally stopped.

An old man was walking toward the gathering of children, accompanied by a young boy.

Lev's eyes immediately narrowed.

He was certain that this was his first time seeing them in person. Yet, despite that, something deep within him immediately recognized their identities.

'That old man should be Grandpa Jack... and the boy beside him is most likely Tang San, the protagonist of this world.'

Seeing the two figures in front of him, Lev couldn't help but feel a strange sensation.

He had seen these characters countless times before through stories and adaptations, but this was completely different.

They were no longer fictional characters on a screen or words written on a page.

They were real.

Tang San, who suddenly sensed someone staring at him, turned around.

His eyes quickly landed on Lev.

The two boys stared at each other for a moment.

Tang San slightly knitted his brows as curiosity filled his eyes. He had noticed Lev's unusual gaze almost immediately and couldn't understand why the strange-looking boy was staring at him so intently.

'Who is this person?'

Tang San was puzzled, but after thinking about it for a moment, he decided not to dwell on it.

He simply turned his attention away from Lev and looked toward the young man who had just arrived.

The newcomer wore a brilliant white robe, his appearance carrying an air of seriousness that immediately attracted the attention of the gathered children.

Lev also shifted his gaze toward him.

'Now that I take a good look at him, Tang San really does look like an ordinary child at this age.'

Lev glanced at Tang San for another moment before shrugging internally.

'Well, it's not like I particularly care about that. I'm much more curious about what kind of Spirit I'll awaken.'

His expression gradually became serious.

'Let's focus on that for now.'

After all, this ceremony would essentially mark the beginning of his journey in this world.

Soon, the young man stepped forward and looked over the gathered children.

"I don't have much time, so let's begin immediately."

The young man's name was Su Yuntao.

The children looked at him with a mixture of awe, excitement, and nervousness. After all, this was the first time most of them had ever seen a genuine Spirit Master.

Su Yuntao continued, "My name is Su Yuntao. I am a twenty-sixth-ranked Spirit Grand Master, and I will be your guide for today's Spirit Awakening Ceremony."

He paused briefly before continuing.

"One by one, I will awaken your Spirits. Remember, regardless of what happens during the process, do not be afraid."

After introducing himself, Su Yuntao took out six black stones and a sparkling blue crystal ball.

He carefully placed the six black stones on the ground, arranging them into the shape of a hexagon.

The children stared at the strange arrangement with curiosity.

"Watch carefully."

Su Yuntao's expression suddenly became serious.

"Lone Wolf Body Enhancement!"

As soon as his voice fell, a powerful aura erupted from his body.

His physique rapidly changed as his body became covered in gray fur. His hands transformed into sharp claws, his teeth became pointed, and his entire appearance began to resemble a ferocious werewolf.

"Aaaaah!"

"Monster!"

Several of the children immediately screamed in fear and instinctively took a few steps backward.

Su Yuntao frowned.

"I said, don't be afraid!"

He then proudly puffed out his chest.

"This is my Spirit, Lone Wolf. If any of you are capable of becoming a Spirit Master in the future, you will also be able to use similar abilities."

The children stared at him with a mixture of fear and admiration.

"Let's begin."

With that, Su Yuntao began calling the children forward one by one.

The Spirit Awakening Ceremony proceeded exactly as Lev expected.

Unfortunately, the results were disappointing.

One after another, the children awakened Spirits that were hardly useful in combat. Sickles, pickaxes, handkerchiefs, and even Blue Silver Grass appeared one after another.

What was even worse was that most of them possessed no Spirit Power whatsoever.

As the ceremony continued, Su Yuntao's expression became increasingly gloomy.

He had already expected the results to be poor, but seeing child after child awaken ordinary Spirits without any Spirit Power still left him disappointed.

Time slowly passed.

Su Yuntao was becoming increasingly exhausted, but he continued the ceremony nonetheless. Regardless of the quality of their Spirits, these children deserved to have their awakening completed.

Lev, however, wasn't paying much attention to the disappointing results.

His hands were trembling.

Not from fear.

From excitement.

Several notification sounds had continuously echoed inside his mind.

[Initial Skill: Lone Wolf Body Enhancement has been learned.]

[Initial Skill: … has been learned.]

[Initial Skill: … has been learned.]

[Initial Skill: … has been learned.]

Lev's eyes widened.

'What the hell?'

His heart began beating faster.

He hadn't expected this at all.

Every time Su Yuntao demonstrated something or used a certain ability, his system seemed to be recording it.

'Wait...'

Lev was just about to ask the system what was happening when he suddenly stopped.

His gaze shifted toward the front.

It was already Tang San's turn.

The young boy stood quietly within the six black stones, his expression unusually serious as he stared directly at Su Yuntao.

Lev's attention immediately focused on the scene before him.

'It's starting.'

The moment he had been waiting for was finally here.

As Su Yuntao began the Spirit Awakening Ceremony for Tang San, something unexpected happened.

The moment Tang San stepped into the center of the six black stones, countless golden flecks suddenly appeared around him.

More.

Far more than the amount produced by all the previous children combined.

Su Yuntao's eyes gradually widened as excitement began to fill his face. He could clearly sense that an extraordinary Spirit was about to emerge.

'Could this child possess a powerful Spirit?'

His expectations continued to rise as the golden light grew increasingly intense.

Then, the light gradually faded.

A small patch of blue-silver grass quietly floated above Tang San's palm.

Su Yuntao's expression instantly froze.

"Ahh..."

His excitement disappeared in an instant.

"A useless Spirit again."

The disappointment on his face was impossible to hide.

He barely gave Tang San another glance before turning toward the remaining children.

"You, come here. Quickly."

Tang San, however, frowned slightly.

"Uncle, you haven't checked my Spirit Power yet."

His voice interrupted Su Yuntao.

Tang San couldn't help but feel that he was being ignored simply because he had awakened Blue Silver Grass.

Su Yuntao was completely uninterested.

In his mind, it didn't matter whether Tang San possessed Spirit Power or not. A Blue Silver Grass Spirit was considered one of the most common and useless Spirits on the continent.

However, seeing Tang San's persistence, Su Yuntao could only sigh inwardly.

"Fine."

He was already somewhat exhausted, but he still spared enough energy to check Tang San's Spirit Power.

Tang San placed his hand against the sparkling blue crystal ball.

The moment he did so, the crystal ball suddenly lit up with an intense blue radiance.

Su Yuntao's eyes widened.

His entire body froze.

"H-Heavens..."

He stared at the dazzling crystal ball in disbelief.

"It's actually... Innate Full Spirit Power!"

Tang San looked at him curiously.

"Uncle, what is Innate Full Spirit Power?"

Su Yuntao stared at Tang San for a moment before finally recovering from his shock.

Seeing the child's genuine curiosity, he couldn't help but explain.

"Innate Full Spirit Power means that when your Spirit awakened, you already possessed the maximum amount of Spirit Power that a person can naturally possess at the moment of awakening."

He paused before continuing.

"Most people possess little to no Spirit Power when their Spirits awaken. Even those with considerable talent rarely possess more than a few levels. But you..."

Su Yuntao looked at Tang San with complicated emotions.

"You possess Innate Full Spirit Power."

Tang San listened carefully, absorbing every word.

Yet despite his surprise, Su Yuntao's expression soon became complicated again.

Innate Full Spirit Power was undoubtedly an astonishing talent.

But unfortunately...

Tang San had awakened Blue Silver Grass.

The disappointment returned to Su Yuntao's face as he looked at the ordinary blue-silver grass floating in Tang San's hand.

'What a waste...'

He couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

Even with Innate Full Spirit Power, the potential of a Blue Silver Grass Spirit was still extremely limited in his eyes.

"You, come here quickly."

Su Yuntao turned his attention toward the next child.

Lev, who had been watching Tang San's awakening from the side, suddenly noticed Su Yuntao pointing directly at him.

His eyes briefly met Su Yuntao's.

'My turn.'

Lev took a deep breath and walked forward.

He calmly stepped into the center of the six black stones.

Su Yuntao began the awakening ceremony.

The moment the process started, Lev suddenly felt something warm building deep within his body.

He wasn't completely unfamiliar with the sensation.

It was somewhat similar to what he had experienced when he fused with a bloodline back in the white room.

'This feeling...'

Lev closed his eyes.

He could feel an unknown energy gradually gathering within his body.

Then, without warning, a powerful force surged into him.

His entire body suddenly became hot.

Yet, at the same time, it felt strangely light—as though his body had become weightless.

Lev remained completely still, allowing the mysterious energy to flow through him.

Then, several familiar notification sounds suddenly rang inside his mind.

[Ding!!!]

[A new feature has been unlocked.]

[Spirit: A unique power that exists within the world of Douluo Dalu. Possessing a Spirit allows an individual to become a Spirit Master and carve their own path toward greatness.]

[Generating a random Spirit...]

[Spirit successfully generated.]

[Spirit: Karyu.]

[Spirit Power: 10.]

Lev's eyes suddenly opened.

Surprise and curiosity flashed across his face.

'Karyu?'

He was somewhat familiar with the name of his newly generated Spirit, but the sudden appearance of this new feature left him with even more questions.

What exactly was Karyu?

Why had his Spirit been randomly generated?

And why had the system suddenly unlocked an entirely new feature?

Questions continued to pile up inside Lev's mind.

He desperately wanted to ask the system for an explanation.

However, he quickly restrained himself.

'Not now.'

He was still in the middle of the Spirit Awakening Ceremony.

If he suddenly started talking to the system or made any strange movements, there was a possibility that Su Yuntao might notice something unusual.

For now, Lev decided to remain silent.

He would wait until the awakening was completely finished.

Then, he would have plenty of questions for the system.

"What kind of Spirit is this?"

Su Yuntao's brows furrowed as he stared at Lev's Spirit with curiosity.

This was the first time in his life that he had encountered a Spirit like this. Unlike the Spirits he had seen before, Lev's Spirit did not manifest as a tangible object or creature. Instead, it appeared to be etched directly onto his body, resembling an intricate tattoo.

Su Yuntao examined it for a few moments before eventually dismissing the thought.

'It's probably another useless Spirit.'

Its appearance looked far too ordinary in his eyes, and there was nothing about it that suggested it possessed any extraordinary characteristics.

"Let's check your Spirit Power."

Su Yuntao decided not to waste any more time.

Lev nodded before placing his hand against the blue crystal ball.

The moment his palm touched the crystal, brilliant blue light suddenly erupted from within.

Su Yuntao's eyes widened.

"What?!"

He stared at the crystal ball in disbelief.

"Another Innate Full Spirit Power?!"

His expression became increasingly complicated.

Two children.

Two Innate Full Spirit Powers.

And both of them had awakened Spirits that he considered useless.

Su Yuntao couldn't help but feel a surge of jealousy.

"Hmph. I don't know what kind of Spirit you awakened, but at least you qualify to become a Spirit Master."

Although he tried to sound indifferent, the bitterness in his voice was unmistakable.

'If only I had been this lucky...'

Su Yuntao couldn't help but think.

If he had possessed Innate Full Spirit Power when his Spirit first awakened, perhaps his life would have turned out completely differently.

He might have already reached a much higher rank by now.

He might have even stood at a level where he could live a life of true greatness instead of traveling from village to village conducting Spirit Awakenings.

Unfortunately, talent was something that couldn't be forced.

And seeing two children from such a remote village possess Innate Full Spirit Power only made him feel more frustrated.

Afterward, Su Yuntao spent another half hour completing the Spirit Awakening Ceremony for the remaining children.

Unfortunately, the results were just as disappointing.

One useless Spirit after another appeared, and none of the remaining children possessed any significant amount of Spirit Power.

By the time the ceremony ended, Su Yuntao's patience had already been completely exhausted.

"That's all for today."

He turned around and gathered his things.

"I'll be leaving first. I still have to visit another village."

Without waiting for anyone to respond, Su Yuntao immediately walked away.

He didn't even bother looking back.

Meanwhile, Lev remained in place for a while.

His mind was still occupied by everything that had just happened.

The discovery of his Spirit.

The system's new feature.

His Innate Full Spirit Power.

And most importantly...

Karyu.

The excitement inside him was still difficult to suppress.

Eventually, Lev decided that he needed some time alone to organize his thoughts.

He left the village and headed back toward the forest where he had first appeared in this world.

Once he reached a secluded area, Lev finally stopped.

He looked around to make sure no one was nearby before letting out a long breath.

'There are too many things I need to figure out.'

While Lev was busy recollecting his thoughts, another person was still thinking about him.

Tang San.

As he watched Lev's departing back, Tang San's eyes remained filled with curiosity.

There were two things that had caught his attention.

The first was the strange impression Lev had given him from the moment they met.

There was something unusual about that boy.

Tang San couldn't explain exactly what it was, but his instincts kept telling him that Lev wasn't an ordinary child.

The second thing was even more interesting.

Lev, just like him, possessed Innate Full Spirit Power.

'Interesting...'

Tang San silently memorized Lev's face.

"What's wrong, Tang San?"

Grandpa Jack's voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.

He had noticed the strange expression on Tang San's face and assumed that the boy was feeling disappointed after Su Yuntao had belittled his Blue Silver Grass Spirit.

"Nothing, Grandpa Jack."

Tang San quickly smiled.

He didn't mention Lev.

He also didn't mention the thoughts currently running through his mind.

Unlike what Grandpa Jack believed, Tang San wasn't particularly disappointed by his Spirit.

Blue Silver Grass might be considered useless by others, but Tang San believed that everything had its own purpose.

'There must be something special about it.'

He intended to explore the potential of his Spirit once he grew older.

"Well, let's go home and tell your father."

Grandpa Jack smiled.

"I hope he'll be excited to hear the news."

Tang San nodded.

"Yes, Grandpa Jack."

The two then began walking back toward the village, carrying with them the news of Tang San's successful awakening.

Yet neither of them knew that, from this day onward, the fate of Holy Spirit Village—and perhaps the entire Douluo Dalu world—had already begun to change.

*****

At the lake...

"It's really much more exciting seeing it in person than simply reading about it or watching it online."

Lev leaned comfortably against the trunk of a tree, resting beneath its shade as he gazed across the tranquil lake.

The scenery was beautiful.

There was something different about this place that he couldn't quite put into words. The atmosphere itself carried a mysterious aura, and even the ordinary trees surrounding the lake felt completely different from those he had known on Earth.

This was another world.

A world that had once existed only within stories.

And now, he was actually here.

"With a Spirit that looks like an ordinary tattoo to everyone else, I feel like I can do a lot of things with it."

A smile slowly appeared on Lev's face as he looked at the strange mark on his body.

"Looks like the system really does love me, giving me such a unique power that no one in this world has ever seen."

He couldn't help but feel pleased with himself.

After staring at his Spirit for a while, Lev decided to examine it more carefully.

[Spirit: Karyu]

[Description: The Flame Dragons from the anime Flame of Recca. Each dragon possesses its own unique ability and power that can assist the Host.]

[To summon a Flame Dragon and utilize its ability, the Host must write the dragon's name.]

Lev's eyes immediately lit up.

'As expected.'

He began piecing together the information in his head.

'Considering how the Spirit system works in this world, the Flame Dragons will probably function as my Spirit Rings whenever I increase my Spirit Rank.'

There was one thing that bothered him, however.

He needed to confirm his assumption.

"System, judging from how this world works, the Flame Dragons will probably become my Spirit Rings every time I advance my Spirit Rank, right?"

[Yes.]

The answer came without hesitation.

Lev nodded.

'Just as I thought.'

"System, as far as I remember, there were only eight Flame Dragons."

Lev frowned slightly.

"If I eventually advance to the level of a Titled Douluo, will I need to hunt down a Fire Dragon Spirit Beast in this world to obtain another Spirit Ring?"

It was a reasonable concern.

Although Lev had watched Flame of Recca in the past, he didn't remember every detail of the series.

He knew about the Flame Dragons and some of their abilities, but his memories of the exact number and circumstances surrounding them were somewhat vague.

The system's response, however, immediately caught him off guard.

[The Host need not worry. There are nine Flame Dragons.]

Lev's eyes widened slightly.

"S-So, that's how it is."

He leaned back against the tree as he quickly pieced together the implication.

'There's only one way that could happen.'

His expression became thoughtful.

'Unless another Flame Dragon is born after a Flame Master dies...'

Lev paused.

'Then that means Recca must have died.'

For a moment, he simply stared at the lake.

"Enough about that."

Lev shrugged.

"It's not like I'm acquainted with him."

Although he said that, curiosity still lingered in his mind.

'I'm just wondering what kind of power he possessed after becoming a Flame Dragon.'

Lev glanced toward the system.

"But I doubt the system would give me an answer about something like that."

He waited.

Silence.

Lev waited a little longer.

Nothing.

"..."

The system remained completely silent, as if it had no idea what he was talking about—or perhaps simply didn't care.

Lev sighed in disappointment.

"Figures."

He eventually stopped thinking about it and stood up.

As relaxing as it was to sit beside the lake, he still had many things that needed to be clarified.

"System, then tell me how I can increase my Spirit Power."

Lev's expression became serious.

"Do I need to cultivate like everyone else? Or is there another method?"

This was the most important question he needed answered.

His entire journey in this world would depend on how he progressed.

The system finally responded.

[When entering a new world, the Host will normally follow the power system of that world.]

[In the current world, the Host will follow the Spirit Power system just like everyone else.]

[However, unless the System imposes a specific method of progression, the Host's primary method of increasing his power is through killing.]

[Targets may include beasts, monsters, humans, demons, or Gods.]

Lev's expression slowly became serious as he listened.

'So that's how it works.'

He remained silent for a moment, carefully processing the information.

'As long as I enter a world, my power will be adjusted to follow that world's power system.'

His eyes narrowed slightly.

'But instead of cultivating like the natives, I can potentially grow stronger through killing.'

A faint smile appeared on his face.

'Interesting.'

This world had Spirit Power.

Therefore, this was the power system he would follow.

And if killing could increase his strength...

Then perhaps the path ahead of him would be much more interesting than he initially expected.

"That's fine by me."

Lev nodded after understanding the system's explanation.

"Then how do I summon the Flame Dragons to become my Spirit Rings once I reach the required threshold?"

[The Host simply needs to write the Dragon's name.]

"Okay."

Lev's eyes immediately lit up.

"Then let's try it."

Since he had already reached the required Spirit Power, he was eligible to summon his first Flame Dragon.

Lev raised his hand and began writing a name in the air, imitating the same gesture Recca had once used in his own world.

***Nadare***

The moment the final letter was completed, something extraordinary happened.

A strange fluctuation of energy suddenly erupted behind Lev.

A Spirit Ring began to form.

From within it, a massive Flame Dragon emerged.

It had thick eyebrows, a long and distinctive mustache, and a pair of soulless blue eyes that made its appearance strangely intimidating.

The dragon let out a thunderous roar.

"ROOOAAARR!"

The surrounding air seemed to tremble from its voice.

Yet the Flame Dragon did not attack.

Instead, it moved toward Lev's back.

As soon as it touched him, its enormous body transformed into blazing energy before merging directly into his body.

The flames gradually faded, leaving behind an intricate tattoo-like pattern across Lev's back.

Lev's clothes, however, were not nearly as fortunate.

They had been burned away during the summoning.

"T-That's amazing..."

Lev stared at the reflection of his own back on the surface of the lake.

He could feel an immense amount of strength surging through his body.

Yet he quickly calmed himself down.

"Wait... why did the tattoo appear as a pattern instead of the name itself?"

Before he could think about it any further, another familiar notification sounded inside his mind.

[Spirit Ring Absorbed.]

[1st Spirit Ring]

[Nadare — 1st Flame Dragon]

[Type: Active]

[Description: A Flame Dragon possessing thick eyebrows, a long distinctive mustache, and soulless blue eyes.]

[Skill: Shapes flames into numerous fireballs that can be launched simultaneously. The fireballs can be controlled freely, and their size can be manipulated.]

"Just like the original."

Lev couldn't help but smile after reading the description.

The ability was practically identical to the one he remembered from Flame of Recca.

It seemed the system had faithfully reproduced the Flame Dragon and its abilities.

However, another detail immediately caught Lev's attention.

"System, why is my Spirit Ring white?"

His expression became slightly troubled.

Lev was already familiar with the Spirit Ring color hierarchy.

White represented the weakest and lowest-ranked Spirit Ring.

Seeing that color surrounding him made him feel somewhat uncomfortable.

[Karyu's age and power were granted by the System. As such, its true age and power cannot be measured by the power system of this world. Therefore, the Spirit Ring is displayed as white.]

"Oh..."

Lev nodded.

The explanation was reasonable.

"So that's why."

With his curiosity satisfied, Lev continued examining his new Spirit while resting beside the lake.

For the first time since arriving in this world, he felt relatively peaceful.

Unfortunately, that peace didn't last long.

Rustle...

A faint sound suddenly came from the opposite side of the lake.

Lev's body stiffened.

His head slowly turned toward the source of the noise.

"What was that?"

A trace of nervousness appeared on his face.

He didn't know what—or who—was hiding in the forest.

Then...

A figure slowly emerged from the trees.

Lev's eyes widened.

It was a wolf-type Spirit Beast.

However, it was unlike any wolf he had ever seen on Earth.

Its body was covered in strange silver-colored fur, and several tails swayed behind it as it stared directly at Lev.

The beast's eyes were filled with predatory intent.

It was looking at him like prey.

Lev swallowed quietly.

'Stay calm.'

He took a breath before activating one of the system's functions.

"Scan Status."

The system immediately responded.

[Name: Silver Wolf]

[Age: 15 Years]

[Skill: Agility]

[Dropped Item(s): None]

Lev blinked.

"What?"

His surprise quickly turned into excitement.

"It can even tell me what items will drop?"

A convenient feature.

Very convenient.

Lev then looked at the Silver Wolf again.

His nervousness gradually disappeared.

Fifteen years old.

Based on what he knew about this world, Spirit Beasts generally became stronger as they grew older.

That meant this particular beast was still relatively weak.

"Perfect."

A confident smile appeared on Lev's face.

"Let's test my new power."

Lev raised his hand.

His fingers moved through the air as he once again wrote a name.

***Nadare***

The moment the name was completed, a familiar Flame Dragon emerged from his body.

"Nadare, come forth."

The dragon roared.

Then, as if understanding Lev's command, its enormous body transformed into several blazing fireballs that floated beside him.

Lev's eyes narrowed.

He raised his hand.

The fireballs immediately moved.

He didn't hesitate.

With a simple thought, Lev launched them toward the Silver Wolf.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The fireballs tore through the air.

The Silver Wolf reacted immediately.

Using its Agility skill, it rapidly moved to the side, successfully evading the first few fireballs.

Lev's eyes flashed.

'Too slow.'

His fingers moved slightly.

The fireballs abruptly changed direction.

The Silver Wolf attempted to evade again, but it was already too late.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The fireballs slammed directly into its body.

The Silver Wolf let out a final cry before its body collapsed onto the ground.

Silence returned to the forest.

A Spirit Ring slowly emerged from the dead Spirit Beast's body.

Lev stared at the scene in stunned silence.

"T-That's too weak..."

His eyes widened.

This was his first battle.

His first time personally killing another living creature.

And yet...

He didn't feel afraid.

He didn't feel guilty.

He didn't even feel particularly disturbed.

Lev looked down at his own hands.

'Why don't I feel anything?'

He had expected his first kill to leave him shaken.

Perhaps even sick to his stomach.

But nothing like that happened.

Instead, all he felt was calm.

Almost unnaturally calm.

Lev slowly clenched his fist.

'So this is what it feels like to kill.'

For a moment, he remained silent, staring at the dead Silver Wolf.

Then his eyes shifted toward the Spirit Ring floating above its corpse.

His expression gradually became serious.

His journey in this world had truly begun.
