Journee was floating in the air. She was moving away from Kay. Tears would not stop falling from her face. She was unable to breathe as she knew she was not going to save Kay in time. If she had jumped the moment she thought about that, she might have landed at the bottom of the stairs before Zachary could reach that point. But now she was late. If she jumped now, she would again have to chase after Zachary, and then it would delay her in saving William. Both her fathers were in danger, and she was unable to help at all.
She wanted to scream, to cry, to shout, but could not do any of that. The floating feeling stopped, and she felt a tight band around her waist. She looked and saw a chain wrapping around her body. Was Zachary back? Where did that chain come from? She saw that she was on the ground, but somehow not on the ground. A muscular floor was beneath her. Heat was emanating from it.
