After learning that Bertha Haines was injured, Ivan Norris directly called the Norris Family lawyer: "Come to Angel Academy."
The school didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but Ivan Norris was very stubborn and refused to negotiate.
Bertha followed Ivan Norris out of the principal's office, only to be scolded again once they left.
"What's the point of having a mouth!"
"Getting bullied and not speaking up!"
"If the school hadn't called for parents, were you not planning to tell us at all?"
"Next time this happens, beat the person up. If you injure or disable them, I'll take care of the aftermath for you!"
Bertha didn't explain, nor did she want to, not even wanting to say another word to Ivan Norris. After returning his wallet, she turned and left.
Ivan Norris wanted to chase after her, but April Lane stopped him.
When Bertha mentioned that her father and brother didn't like her, April was puzzled. How could there be a father who didn't like his own child or a brother who didn't like his sister?
Turns out there really is!
"Do you know why she didn't tell you she was bullied? Because you don't care about her at all!"
"Did she call you to the school just to get scolded by you? Have you ever cared whether or not she was injured or how serious it was?"
"I was the one who went to the hospital with her. She'd rather trouble a classmate she only met less than a month ago than you. That's how responsible you are as a brother."
Ivan Norris was so stunned by the scolding that he was momentarily dazed.
Even after April Lane ran far away, he still stood there, unable to recover for a long time.
The matter between Bertha Haines and Kimberley eventually ended with Kimberley apologizing to her and receiving a disciplinary action.
Not sure if the Norris Family pressured the school or intimidated Kimberley, but when she apologized, her attitude was relatively earnest, and she promised not to provoke Bertha again.
*
In the blink of an eye, Bertha had been boarding at school for a month.
At the end of the month's small test, she performed exceptionally well, ranking first in her grade.
She really wanted to share this joy with someone, and the first person that came to her mind was her grandfather, but after drafting a message, she hesitated for a long time and ultimately didn't send it out.
On a whim, she sent the message to Manson instead.
Then, the next day, she received a gift.
A crystal ball, about a dozen centimeters in diameter, with an angel inside flapping its wings, exquisitely crafted and very realistic.
April Lane came over, smiling and asking.
"Who sent it? So girly?"
"Tell me honestly, are you in love?"
Bertha was momentarily bewildered. After coming to her senses, she quickly shook her head and said: [No!]
Amos Smith is too outstanding; she didn't dare have high hopes.
Perhaps because she treasured this gift too much, it sparked some people's jealousy, so when she returned to the dorm one day, she found that her crystal ball had been smashed.
Pieces of shattered glass all over the floor.
Bertha's temper isn't particularly good, but her upbringing taught her to endure.
But this time, she was truly angry.
April Lane glanced at Bertha with some sympathy, then questioned the roommates.
"Who broke it?"
The roommates all denied it unanimously.
"Not me."
"Nor me."
"It was already broken when I got back."
Lily was the last to return; facing April Lane's questioning, she directly denied it.
"What does it have to do with me!"
"If you're so precious about it, why didn't you lock it in the cabinet!"
"Leaving it outside every day as if it's something everyone envies even though it's just a cheap thing you can buy for a few dozen bucks!"
"Looking at where the crystal ball fell, maybe she didn't place it well herself, and it fell off the bed. Don't wrongfully blame someone without evidence!"
April Lane rolled up her sleeves, looking ready to fight.
"In this dorm, only you always have an attitude with Bertha. If it's not you, who else could it be!"
Bertha grabbed April Lane, her eyes cold as she looked at Lily.
The hallway camera had been broken for several days and hadn't been fixed yet, making it difficult to find out who broke it.
Although she suspected Lily, without evidence, it wasn't appropriate to settle the score with her.
She bent down to pick up the broken little angel from the floor, then directly went to the balcony to grab a broom and dustpan to clean up the glass shards.
After Lily came out of the bathroom, she couldn't help but chatter.
"Sweep it clean. If someone steps on the glass shards, what should we do!"
"You damn well shut up already!"
April Lane kicked the trash can to the side, ready to go after Lily, but Bertha stopped her.
Bertha holds grudges. In her mind, there's a little book where she's keeping track, not that she's unwilling to settle scores, but the time isn't right yet.
Now that she's grown up, she's stopped doing foolish things that harm herself while hurting the enemy.
She took a cloth and wiped the floor twice.
Then she sat in a chair, fiddling with her little angel.
The angel's arms and legs had been forcefully broken, looking so pitiful.
She asked her roommates if anyone had glue; no one did, so she took her bag and left the room.
Unexpectedly, the school supermarket was also out of stock, so she had no choice but to leave the campus.
The outside supermarket was fully stocked, and after getting the glue, she didn't immediately return to school but sat directly under a streetlight and started repairing her little angel.
"Squeak!"
A sports car roared past Bertha, then circled back a moment later.
"Little mute!"
Bertha looked up and saw a familiar face.
Marvin Howard immediately opened the car door and jumped out.
"It really is you! I thought my eyes were deceiving me! How did you suddenly become so beautiful after not seeing you for a few months?"
Bertha: "..."
Marvin Howard looked around; there were very few pedestrians on the road.
"Why are you here alone at night? Is your toy broken? If it's broken, your brother will buy you a new one."
"Don't fix it; come on, your brother will take you out for a late-night snack."
Bertha ignored him, continuing to look down and fix her little angel.
Marvin Howard noticed that the little mute seemed to be in a bad mood.
"Were you bullied?"
"Tell me, who bullied you? I'll go teach them a lesson."
At this moment, two more cars stopped by the roadside.
Bertha recognized Amos Smith's car; she quickly packed her tools into her bag and ran over with her little angel.
Manson had already gotten out of the car: "Miss Norris, Young Master Howard."
Marvin Howard also followed, somewhat sourly: "Hey, this is too much, don't you think your treatment difference is too drastic!"
Bertha ignored him, hopping directly into the back seat.
Marvin Howard also got in, taking Manson's place, forcing Manson to drive for him.
Looking back at Bertha, Marvin Howard deliberately put on a stern face, complaining.
"We were the ones who met first. I even helped you find your adoptive parents, and you're playing favorites with the wrong person!"
