Today I looked for a job but it is complicated because I am useless. At least knows what my classmates and teachers tell me. My family has been treating me like trash since I was born, except for my mother who is the last one to support me. I tried again to find my father but I can't find any clue as if he never existed. Then, I watched finished Seven deadly sins for the 14th time, At the same time who doesn't dream of having a hidden power that nobody knows about like Meliodas.

I've often been called weeb or neet even otaku, although I don't like these words, I have to admit that this is true since I was 1 years old when my father disappeared, I spend my time only playing video games and watching things (movies, anime, series). I also read but rarely is often SF novels even if Percy Jackson and Harry Potter are my favorite novels, I read them because their counterpart released in film are null, and not at all faithful to the book especially Percy Jackson which is a disappointment for the fan of the novel.
It's my birthday today, I almost forgot because of all this since I never celebrate it, the only person who cares about it is my mother despite our small savings.
In conclusion, today I feel really bad but I would do anything not to show it to my mother...
- "DRAKE!!! Please come down!!!"
My mom called me, I think it's for my birthday despite my uncles telling her it's not necessary to celebrate the birth of a trash, he always treat me like that so I'm used to it now.
That's what it's like not to have power
*Closes his diary*
- "DRAKE!!! Hurry up!!!"
- "I'M COMING!!!" I yelled so they could hear me and once I put my diary away, I went downstairs but I couldn't find my mom.
- "SURPRISE!!!"
I was about to check the dining room when suddenly she appeared with a yogurt cake decorated with 18 movements already used, I pity not my mother but our economic situation which makes me particularly uncomfortable but I don't let my mother see it.
-You scared me!" I said to please her.
-Stop lying since your birth, I could never surprise you despite the number of times I tried!
It is true that since my birth, I have like a sixth sense that tells me when a person and close to me especially if that person turns out to be my mother. At first my mother thought it was my power like Spider-Man's spider sense but when we went to do some tests, the doctor was adamant that I don't have any power and thinks it's just my hearing that is more developed than the norm.
My mom went on to wish me a happy birthday which really touched my heart because I thought about what it would be like to not have anyone think of you like a mother would.
We then went into the dining room and started eating the cake while we talked about what happened during our day. It was 7pm and my mother had just returned from her job as a cashier and had to go back to work around 11pm at the bar that my father owned to earn more money but since my father disappeared according to her the customers are becoming more and more scarce, only one person passes every day at the bar since my father disappeared.
This person was about 1.91 meters tall, with long brown wavy hair and a white suit that seemed to shine. I never got his name but according to my mother he was a good man and I never wanted to interact with him because he looked like a rich man and I hate rich people who show it and I feel ugly next to him with my unkempt hair, my pointy nose and my dirty clothes.
My eyes are heterochromatic which is one of the reasons for my harassment with my lack of power. My right eye is a pure white while my left eye is a blood red never seen before according to me my white eye would come from my father since my mother has almost as red as mine, but I can't confirm it because at the disappearance of my father my mother destroyed everything that had a link with him except a pendant that keeps on her neck and that never takes off.
The pendant looks like a commonplace item but my mother insists on keeping it, which I can understand, but what I don't understand is why she destroyed everything connected with my father but kept this pendant.
Anyway, my mother kept talking and she told me about her compulsory power test. Every 2 years since you were born, you have to check the stability of it since some powers can kill their owner if he abuses it, the test is also used to detect your powers because they can appear at any age but from 18 years old it is almost impossible.
I tend to forget this but my mother has the power to control flames, at least that's what she always told me. I thought I could control the flames on my next test which is tomorrow because it is 1 to 7 days after your birthday but I have very little hope because I just turned 18.
We kept talking for several minutes that I didn't even see pass and my mother stopped, I didn't understand at first but then I saw her take off her pendant and I thought she was thinking about my father then a few seconds later I see her handing me the pendant, I ask her why and she says:
- "It's a gift but not from me but from your father, he made me promise to keep it with me until you are 18 and he told me that you should never part with it".
I didn't believe him at first but I accepted the pendant, I tried to open it but I couldn't, I started to force it more and more and then I heard my mother.
- "I already tried to open it by all means but I never succeeded so there's no need to waste your strength for nothing."
So I stopped trying to open it and put it around my neck. I wanted to continue talking about it with my mom but she acted ignorant like she never gave me the pendant, what struck me as strange was that she had the era of not pretending so we continued talking until the clock hit 11pm.
My mom went to the bar while I went to my room to fall asleep even though I had a hard time sleeping since the pendant thing was stressing me out.
The next day I woke up at 6am so I got up and showered and then went to have breakfast. I also made my mom breakfast because she came home late and I didn't want her to work as soon as she woke up. I played on my PC for 4 hours before I had to go to my test.
I went out with my headphones on and put on "I'm still standing by Elton John" to leave and headed to the test center, on the way I passed a gang that turned out to be gangsters and their leader reminded me of Biff Tannen from Back to the future. I tried to cross but it was too late because Biff's gang noticed me, I tried to run away but he caught me in 2 seconds. I asked him what he wanted from me.
- Why are you looking for me Biff...Mister!!!
I asked him out of fear because I was the only one without power in town. I'm pretty well known.
-You just said WHAT?
When I heard what he said, I directly thought he noticed when I almost called him Biff Tannen. And I was right, he didn't totally understand what I said but he felt it was insulting. So he sent his gang, who beat me up until I was on the ground covered in blood and then Biff ordered me to get up, he came running, his point was shining which was a sign that he had activated a power. He hit me so hard that I went flying down the road, I saw a truck coming straight at me but I couldn't move.
I felt the end coming, I was happy and sad at the same time. Happy because I can finally leave this rotten world but sad because I didn't want to leave my mother alone and make her sad. I saw my life flash before my eyes. I was sad not about my life but about the lousy guy I was and how I made my mom's life even harder since I was born because I had no power. Then I saw the truck coming closer and I closed my eyes.
- "I love you Mom."
Suddenly I found myself surrounded by darkness, I could move which seemed strange so I stood up and saw a pure black figure in front of me. I was confused but all of a sudden I heard something speak.
- "Hello! Blake. "I was startled because the black figure was talking to me and knew my name, I asked him if it was gods because I remember many manga where the hero meets gods and gives him a power. Then the figure started to laugh.
- "Me? Gods? The best thing I ever heard! Do I look like this asshole?"
- "No, sorry," I replied, tensed with fear at the demonic laughter.
-"Are you Satan?" I asked him.
-"You compare me to that childish kid! No, I am one of the servants of the demon goddess."
I asked him after that what the goddess of the demons wanted from me and he told me that he didn't come from the goddess but that he came to make me sign a contract in her name.
- "A contract???"
-Yes, a contract to make you my representative among the demons and I would give you powers more powerful than Satan but in return I want this pendant.
He pointed to my father's pendant. I directly refused the contract because even if I didn't know my father, I wanted to have a souvenir of my time on earth with me so that I wouldn't forget my mother who had the pendant since my birth. The servant got angry and was about to run at me but a light appeared and overpowered him. I saw the white figure of a pure divine saying words but I heard another voice stronger.
