The director's home is on the third floor, and Polly Sutton went straight up to the third floor and knocked on the door.
However, despite knocking for a long time, no one responded. Instead, the door across the hall opened.
"Looking for Mr. Chandler? The whole family went back to their hometown a few days ago," said the neighbor, Professor Green, who looked at Polly Sutton and found her familiar. "Aren't you Mr. Walker's doctoral student, Polly Sutton?"
"Professor Green, it's me. Did Director Chandler mention when he'd be back?" Polly politely inquired.
"They left in a hurry and didn't say when they'd return. You should try calling him."
"I did, but no one answered," Polly had already called on her way here. "Then, I'll head back, Professor Green. Please let me know when Director Chandler returns."
"Sure."
Polly took another look at Director Chandler's door before turning and heading downstairs. Maybe there really was an emergency in their family.
