Sophie Lynn looked at Polly Sutton and instinctively took a step back, "What are you going to do? This is the Parker Family estate, not a place for you to act recklessly."
"Miss Lynn misunderstood, I just want to discuss with you why you like Victor, a married man." Polly Sutton said with a smile, "Do married men smell better somehow?"
Polly mentioned "married men" twice, almost confirming Sophie Lynn's identity as a third party.
Sophie's face indeed turned red, "You're the one who took the money and left. Victor has nothing to do with you for a long time. What if Victor finds out you took the money?"
Sophie spoke threateningly, clearly thinking this woman was just deceiving Victor Parker.
Polly clicked her tongue; Victor knew about this, but didn't do anything to her. If he found out about another matter, then her life would be in danger.
"Miss Lynn, do you also like Victor Parker just because of his looks?" Polly assumed a knowing look.
"Of course not. Do you think everyone is as superficial as you?" Sophie hastily denied, "I heard you work as a bricklayer on construction sites?" Sophie said while disdainfully looking Polly up and down, thinking how dirty those places were.
Bricklaying?
Polly was astonished at this new identity of hers. A protégé of a famous architect, adored by industry giants, being called a bricklayer.
But then, thinking about her year-round presence on construction sites, maybe it wasn't entirely wrong; it was just like bricklaying, wasn't it?
"Miss Lynn, following the principle of women not deceiving women, I feel I need to tell you something." Polly approached Sophie, who distastefully backed away, but Polly continued unbothered, "Victor actually likes men."
"What did you say?" Sophie exclaimed in surprise.
"I'm telling the truth, otherwise why would I take the five million his mom gave and leave, when Victor's money is endless? Right?" Polly spoke with a sincere tone, seemingly considering Sophie's feelings.
"Then he… he just now…"
"He was tricking you; even I'm just a cover story he uses to deceive his mom. You mentioned the five million, right? Victor knew about it long ago and gave me thirty million to keep playing along. Otherwise, why would I be here? We're all women; I couldn't just watch you be deceived, could I?" Polly said, pretending to craftily take out an agreement from her pocket, showing Sophie the part about the divorce and the thirty million, signed by Victor.
Sophie's worldview was shattered, her face turned pale—how could this be possible?
Sophie, enraged, left in a shaky gait.
Watching her leave, Polly clicked her tongue again, "Is that all?"
Her fighting spirit was too weak; she should at least have tried to compete with a man instead of giving up just because she heard he liked men.
Upstairs in the study, Mrs. Parker watched her son closely.
"Although your grandma specified in her will to pass the Parker Family legacy to you, your uncles and brothers are all watching you closely. What can Polly Sutton, whom your grandma mistakenly favored, really bring to you?"
Victor leaned on the bookshelf listening to his mother's lecture, knowing since day one that the Parker Family was not peaceful inside.
"Then why was my grandma so insistent on her?"
"Your grandmother was old and confused. I don't know what she was thinking. Since she chose to take the money and leave, why did you bring her back?"
"When the House of Parker faced a crisis, outsiders weren't aware, but you were fully aware. It was grandma who single-handedly held everything together. How could she be senile?" Victor reminded her, that this was the oddest part.
"It wasn't like your grandma absolutely had to have her. Otherwise, why didn't she leave anything for her in the end, or even see her one last time? Mrs. Parker said dismissively. If she truly cared, she wouldn't have been dismissed with just five million so simply.
Victor twirled the phone in his hand and suddenly laughed.
"I'm talking to you. What are you laughing at?" Mrs. Parker felt even more displeased seeing her son laugh abruptly, "The Lynn family is on par with the Parkers; marrying Sophie Lynn is completely beneficial for you."
"Mom, do you think I need to rely on a woman to establish myself in the Parker Family?" Victor stood up straight, tucked the phone into his pocket, "I haven't thought about getting divorced or starting a relationship with a woman lately. As for the Parker Family affairs, I know what I'm doing."
Mrs. Parker was stunned, watching her son leave. What did he just say?
He hadn't thought about starting a relationship with a woman?
Then with whom?
A man?
Mrs. Parker felt unsteady, leaning back on the table for support. Was her son out of his mind?
Victor went downstairs, and Polly was heading out. As soon as she saw him, she jumped like she'd seen a ghost and bolted faster than a rabbit.
Even after getting some distance, she turned back and made a face at him, and when he raised his hand, she darted away like a startled kitten.
Victor looked at his raised hand, grumbling about her having guts but lacking courage.
Polly directly went to Daisy Joy Kindergarten to pick up Tommy and Benny after school.
Little Tommy ran to her calling her name and threw himself into her arms, while Benny slowly followed behind, carrying his brother's small backpack.
"Mommy, why are you back?" Little Tommy hugged Polly's neck and gave her a peck on the cheek, full of affection.
"Mommy." Benny walked over, with a stern face, called out.
Polly crouched down to hug Benny, routinely pinching his chubby cheeks, "Come on, give Mommy a smile."
Benny gave a forced smile to his mom, earning a corner pinch from her, not showing any resistance.
Polly couldn't resist pinching twice more; if they treated her badly, she would just take it out on her own son.
"Let's go, Mommy's taking you home." Polly said, holding their little hands as they headed back to school.
Benny, led by his mom, looked back once more at the man still on the big screen. He knew the man was Victor Parker, who married his mom three years ago and then disappeared, only returning recently to City A.
The irresponsible scoundrel!
"Benny, what are you looking at?" Polly couldn't help but glance back, seeing her son's eyes fixed behind them.
"Wow, Mommy, I know that handsome uncle. Grandma said that handsome uncle is very rich." Little Tommy immediately shared what he knew with Mommy.
Polly: "..."
Polly pulled Benny closer, "Remember, handsome men are all liars. Whenever you meet someone like that, run as fast as you can, alright?"
While saying this, Polly's phone rang. She handed Tommy to Benny and freed a hand to answer it.
"Hello, Miss Sutton, this is Andrew Lindsey."
