Velten slowly opened his eyes again after he heard the woman's voice, but instead of being in the dungeon, he found himself lying on his bed.

He almost immediately sat up and put his hand on his chest panicking. He looked into his chest but nothing was there, not even a single scar.

Velten tried to stand up, but his head suddenly started to hurt, so he just stayed in his place and murmured while holding his head and looking at the floor "what the hell happened? Why am I here? And what was that voice I heard back then?"

Velten was confused as all those questions were filling his head. He was certain that it was the end for him for a moment there, but for some reason, he found himself in his room.

While he was trying to understand what did happen to him, his sight became blurry for a second, then an information window suddenly appeared in front of him.

Velten lifted his head and stared at the information window both surprised and confused. He felt something weird was going on. It didn't make any sense that, even though three Ice spears pierced his body, not a single scar was visible, and now he is receiving some kind of an RPG game element.

He then remembered what he heard that women say previously in that dark place about activating the system.

"Is this what –Whoever she is– meant by activating the system?" Velten wondered while rubbing his chin "I haven't played video games in a while, but this looks the same as those elements in RPGs"

"I don't see my bow skills here, though," Velten said, "is there a reason for that?"

While Velten was reading his stats, the window suddenly switched to the quests tab.

"The first dungeon? Didn't we already clear that one?" Velten thought as he lifted his brows in confusion. He indeed cleared the first dungeon with the team a year or two ago, so what did the system mean by that.

Velten then realized something was off. His room looked slightly different, and his body felt somehow weird. He quickly stretched his hand and grabbed his phone that was put on the nightstand beside the bed, and checked the time and date.

– Tuesday, 11th of April, 2017 –

"What the…" Velten uttered with a puzzled look on his face. The time was for some reason indicated as 5 years before the fight with the wolf boss happened.

"Velten! Breakfast is ready!" a woman's voice suddenly came from downstairs.

"Mom…?!" Velten uttered in a low voice with his lips shivering and his tears about to fall. It's been so long since he heard his mom calling him like that early in the morning.

'She is still alive' Velten muttered as he stood at the entrance of the kitchen with his voice stuck in his throat. He then lunged forward and hugged his mom while sobbing.

"Velten? What's wrong? Did something happen to you, son?" His mom looked down and asked worriedly. She has never seen her son crying this much before, let alone that he is hugging her so tightly as if he hadn't seen her in ages.

Velten continued crying for a while, so his mom hugged him back and patted his hair while trying to comfort him.

Although Velten wasn't strong by any means. He was the weakest between his friends and family, Velten's family was full of talented fighters, and his mom was once one of them.

She was the vice-leader of the special force that was created by his deceased father. She was talented with magic, but she preferred to focus on the south-monarch swordsmanship, and wanted to polish her skills as much as possible so that she can pass her knowledge to the upcoming generations.

Nevertheless, she retired from being a fighter a while ago after her husband passed away while participating in one of the high-level quests, and never had any intentions of returning.

In addition, although she received so many tempting offers from the government and the high-ranked guilds to get her to return to service again, she refused every one of them without any hesitation.

She didn't feel comfortable fighting against the beasts again, since they were the reason behind losing her husband.

However, one day, when she received a message from the government containing some information about the possibility of her husband being alive, she regained some hope and started participating in raids again.

Nonetheless, while attempting in taking a raid inside one of the greater dungeons, she died mysteriously. None of the team members that were under her lead returned alive, and no one found their dead bodies.
