Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Twins in One Birth

The night is boundless.

Heavy curtains block the room's spring light.

On the spacious bed, rain-like kisses from the man fall delicately on the woman's tender skin, breath heavy.

Elara Don's head is dizzy; she clings to the source of that sweet relief like a fish out of water.

Her luscious red lips utter softly, "Evan, is that you?"

The man's muscular body pauses briefly, then continues the crazed ravishing...

Entwined for a night until dawn, the man rises swiftly.

A gentle breeze slowly sweeps in, lifting the corner of the curtain.

The faint morning light illuminates the man's face.

Dark hair, deep-set eyes, the features cold and perfect, like heaven's most flawless painting!

He glances slightly sideways at the woman lying on the bed with her back to him, a touch of softness flashing in his well-defined eyes.

Slender fingers reach out, wanting to see the woman's face clearly.

Just then, the phone on the bedside cabinet vibrates, redirecting his hand swiftly as he picks up the phone.

Glancing at the caller ID, his thin lips press lightly, and without any hesitation, he turns and strides towards the door.

The door gently opens and closes as the man answers the call, his voice low, "Hello."

"Boss, are you alright? You have a flight at six this morning, so you need to head to the airport immediately."

"I'm fine. Rhun Quinn, find out who the woman in my room was last night and ask her what compensation she wants."

After a pause, thinking of something, his eyes softened, "She probably won't wake up early, come after nine."

Last night, someone spiked his drink.

He intended to withstand it, but unexpectedly, someone barged in.

He's always despised women approaching him, yet last night was an exception...

...

A pounding knock at the door sounds, like a death summons.

Elara Don holds her heavy head, rising, thoughts pausing momentarily.

Last night was her eighteenth birthday, her classmates celebrating at the club for her.

She drank too much, hazily seeing a message from her fiancé asking her to find him in the upstairs suite.

Then...

Recalling last night's passion, Elara blushes, covering her face.

She belongs to him now!

She had promised to give herself wholly to him once she became an adult!

"Open up! Elly, are you in there?"

The knocking outside continues—the voice sounds like her fiancé, Evan Miles!

Elara blinks, grabbing a towel and draping it over herself, enduring discomfort as she goes to the door.

The door opens to reveal a handsome young man standing outside.

But at the moment, his expression is grim.

"Evan, you..."

Why is he standing outside?

"Elly, what did you do last night? You actually betrayed me!"

Evan forcefully pulls at Elara's neckline, seeing the scattered bruises on her fair skin, his eyes instantly turning scarlet.

Betrayed him?

What is he saying?

"Evan, I didn't betray you; last night, weren't we together?"

Elara is stunned, looking at the man's blood-red eyes, a sudden panic rising in her heart.

"Last night, I was still returning from my business trip. How could I be with you?"

Evan's eyes are filled with hurt as he pushes Elara, rushing into the room, "Where's the adulterer? Who is your adulterer?"

Elara is heavily pushed against the wall, the pain and discomfort severely affecting her balance, nearly causing her to fall.

Her face pales as she tightly clutches the robe, entirely at a loss.

"No, Evan, listen to me, last night I truly received your message before coming up, I thought the person in the room was you!"

"Enough! Elara Don, I always thought you were kind, pure, maintaining your integrity. That's why, even when my mother opposed our marriage, I kept convincing her. But unexpectedly, the rumors are true; you indeed can't withstand loneliness! We are breaking off the engagement!"

Evan's face is full of anger as he forcefully releases Elara's hand and strides away.

He wants to break off their engagement!

"Evan, don't go, please listen to my explanation!"

Elara's face turns ashen, hurriedly dressing as she rushes out.

In the corner, a woman with a sly-faced beauty looks on, clenching her fists tightly.

Previously, it was Damon Hawke who left the room!

Sea City's most prestigious family, the Hawke Group's youngest master, Damon Hawke!

That wretched girl Elara Don mistakenly entered the wrong room last night, not the one arranged for her but ended up with Damon Hawke!

The woman takes a deep breath, flicks her hair behind her ear, and swiftly enters the room.

...

Ten months later.

In the hospital delivery room, bright fluorescent lights shine.

Elara Don breaths heavily, fine beads of sweat covering her forehead.

A day and a night!

She's been lying on this delivery bed for a day and night!

But the child in her belly still won't be born!

"Push, Elara Don, you need to push harder! Haven't you been taught how to breathe? Do it quickly!"

Nearby, the midwife, wearing a mask, calls out to Elara.

Elara bites her chapped lips, forcefully exhaling and inhaling.

The belly aches sharply, almost making her faint!

"Dr. Lawson, her baby's position is wrong; if this continues, neither the mother nor the child will survive."

"Why panic? I know what I'm doing. Did you not understand the employer's intention? Ensure the child's safety, as for the mother..."

"Poor woman!"

"..."

Fragments of conversation drift to her ears from the doctor and nurses.

Elara's blurred thoughts suddenly clear.

What employer?

What are they talking about?

Elara is about to inquire when a sudden contraction hits from within.

"Elara Don, push harder, I can see the baby's head!"

The doctor's voice carries some excitement, and Elara takes a deep breath and gives a hard push...

"Wah!"

A cry like a tiny kitten resounds.

It's born!

She finally has given birth!

Elara's vision darkens, almost losing consciousness.

She struggles to keep her eyes open and sees the midwife hurrying off with the baby.

"Child, let me see my child!"

Elara's body is weak, a bad feeling inexplicably rising in her heart.

Her neighbor brought her to the delivery room.

Because the family who raised her has already cut ties.

No one outside is waiting; where is the midwife taking the child?

"Miss Thorne, don't look; you gave birth to a stillborn, and you..."

The doctor retrieves a syringe, diluting a vial of medication.

The slender needle sprays tiny droplets, carrying an eerie chill.

A formidable fear spreads throughout her body as Elara gapes at the approaching doctor.

"What stillborn? I clearly heard the baby cry just now! Doctor, what are you planning to do to my baby and me?"

It's not like this!

This doctor is lying!

Someone must be taking her child and wants her dead!

Ten months ago, after spending one night with a stranger, Evan couldn't accept the fact, decisively broke off the engagement, making her a laughingstock in the city.

Her father was furious, cursing her as being just like her deceased mother, not peaceful, and revealed a shocking truth.

She's not his biological daughter!

Suddenly, she lost her innocence, her family, and two months later discovered she was pregnant!

Pregnant for ten months, she initially resisted, but gradually accepted the little life inside, preparing for its arrival.

Unexpectedly, the child was taken away at birth!

Who has taken her baby and wants her life!

"I'm sorry, Miss Thorne, you've got nothing to blame me for, but your own ill fate!"

The doctor restrains Elara's wrist, ready to plunge the needle into her vein.

"Ah! It hurts! Doctor, my belly aches terribly!"

Another contraction, Elara winces tightly.

With a weak sound like a newborn, she gives birth to another child.

Turns out she was carrying twins!

Elara breathes heavily, looking at the approaching doctor, reaching out, "Doctor, as a healer you are supposed to be compassionate! I beg you, spare me and my child!"
