Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Is He Looking in a Mirror?

"Sorry, I didn't mean to."

Elara Don bumped into someone and quickly apologized.

"You didn't mean to? These shoes are limited edition, and you got them dirty..."

Victoria Don raised her voice as if to curse.

But when her gaze landed on Elara Don's face opposite her, she opened her mouth wide, and the words got stuck in her throat.

Ghost!

Had she seen a ghost?

Was this Elara Don?

Was she not dead?

"Elara Don, you're alive!"

Victoria Don's voice changed, staring at Elara Don with a face full of fear.

Elara Don also recognized the person and immediately pressed her red lips together.

"Of course I'm alive, who told you I was dead?"

She ran into an old acquaintance!

Victoria Don, the foster father's daughter.

They lived together for ten years.

Their relationship was lukewarm, without any sisterly affection.

"Didn't you die during childbirth back then? I..."

Victoria Don turned pale and couldn't continue speaking as she stared at Elara Don.

"Is that so? I didn't inform you when I had the baby. How did you know I died during childbirth?"

Elara Don's eyes fixed on Victoria Don's changing expression, stepping closer, "Victoria Don, was it you who wanted me dead back then?"

Over the years, whenever she had spare time, she thought about this matter.

She was only eighteen at the time, a naive girl with little experience of the world.

She was kind and never easily held grudges against others.

The only one who might have harbored ill will towards her was this Victoria Don.

She remembered, Victoria Don once coveted her fiancé, Evan Miles.

When she was eighteen, she received a message from Evan Miles, and she suspected it might have been sent by Victoria Don.

If she were tainted, Evan Miles would break up with her.

However, since Victoria Don didn't end up with Evan Miles, she dismissed this theory.

Now, seeing Victoria Don looking at her as if seeing a ghost, she couldn't help but doubt.

"Elara Don, what nonsense are you spouting?"

Victoria Don raised her voice as if she had been bitten by a dog, "You were raised by Dad. Even if we're not related by blood, Dad always cared about you. So when you had a baby, of course, he would know."

"What about later? You didn't see my body, so how did you confirm I was dead?"

Elara Don stared unblinkingly at Victoria Don, pressing her relentlessly.

"It was the hospital who notified us, saying you died of childbirth complications. Dad couldn't bear to see your tragic state, so he had the hospital directly cremate you."

Victoria Don clutched her handbag tightly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

The dead girl, it's really her!

She actually didn't die!

The doctor back then lied to her!

Feeling uneasy, Victoria Don smoothed her hair by her ear, "Since you're not dead, come back for a meal when you have time. I have something to do, so I'll leave first!"

Something big is about to happen!

What should she do now!

Victoria Don turned and hurriedly left.

"Mommy, who was that fierce auntie? Did she bully you?"

Harry Soo, who had been playing in the amusement park, ran over with his little legs, looking at Elara Don with concern.

Elara Don snapped back to reality, bent down, and ruffled his little head.

"Mommy is fine."

Not wanting her son to worry, Elara Don immediately changed the subject, "Wow, Bea, how did you get your clothes all wet? You might catch a cold. Why not change into the new clothes we just bought?"

"Uh, okay."

Harry Soo glanced at his dirty little T-shirt and scratched his head.

That auntie definitely bullied Mommy.

If he sees her next time, he'll definitely get back at her for Mommy!

Upstairs in the restaurant.

This was a well-decorated revolving restaurant.

Sitting by the window, one could clearly see the entirety of the mall.

Victoria Don absentmindedly walked to an elegant seat and sat down.

Across from her sat Damon Hawke and his son.

"Where's Charlie's Lego? Didn't you retrieve it?"

Damon Hawke looked at the distracted Victoria Don, his brow slightly furrowed.

"Huh? Sorry, I forgot, I'll go get it now."

Victoria Don snapped out of it, remembering she had gone to get toys for Dominic Hawke.

But suddenly running into the supposedly dead Elara Don startled her so much that she forgot.

"No need, let's eat first."

Damon Hawke spoke evenly, tying a bib on the little one and handing him the cut steak.

Dominic Hawke said nothing, grabbing the knife and fork with his small hands, eating the steak quietly yet elegantly.

The two of them, one big and one small, looked strikingly similar and particularly appealing under the light.

Victoria Don watched the similarly appearing father and son, her almond-shaped eyes sparkling.

"Damon, Charlie is so grown up now, don't you think it's time we gave him a complete family?"

Elara Don, that dead girl, is back!

She needed to hurry up and become the Hawke Family's hostess!

Thud!

The sound of cutlery hitting the floor.

Victoria Don looked up and saw Dominic Hawke pressing his little lips together, his little chin tightly clenched.

This little guy, was he silently protesting?

"Charlie, are you so excited that you couldn't contain yourself? I know you've always wanted Mommy and Daddy to take care of you together, right?"

Victoria Don feigned gentleness, with a hint of warning in her eyes as she looked at the little one.

Dominic Hawke only felt his bottom tightening, seemingly feeling the pain of the woman's fingers digging into it.

No way!

He didn't want her and Dad to take care of him!

He didn't want that!

Dominic Hawke's gaze turned to the side.

An inadvertent glance revealed a familiar figure at the bottom of the escalator.

It was Charlotte Soo and her son!

Dominic Hawke's eyes lit up, quickly sliding off his chair, and running forward with his little legs.

"Hey, Charlie, where are you going?"

Victoria Don was taken aback, watching the little one running off into the distance, both upset and angry.

The little rascal, did he just answer her question by running away?

Let's see how she would deal with him next!

At this moment, Damon Hawke was picking up the dropped cutlery for his son.

When he sat up straight, the little one was nowhere to be seen.

Instantly, his handsome face clouded over.

"Ran off without saying a word again! Impressive!"

The little one's temper was growing!

Running off just over a disagreement?

Who did he get that fiery temper from?

"Mr. Hawke, the young master, he..."

The bodyguard beside him tensed up, seeking Damon Hawke's opinion.

"Hurry up and chase him!"

"..."

Downstairs.

Elara Don rode the elevator with her son to the first floor.

At this time, her phone rang from her bag.

Elara Don took out the phone to look and saw it was a call from Ryan himself, causing her to purse her lips slightly.

She was on strike today, and the Hawke Corporation would definitely complain.

Let's see what Ryan had to say?

"Bea, wait for Mommy a moment, Mommy will take this call first."

"Okay."

Harry Soo fiddled with the bottle in his hand, obediently standing in the corner.

A moment later, a pair of white sneakers appeared in front of him.

Harry Soo blinked and looked up at the person.

Big dark eyes, small red lips, fair and tender skin.

Even the clothes were identical, a white T-shirt and black pants.

Uh!

Was he looking in a mirror?
