Chapter 15 - Runaway with me

AUTHOR'S POV

Scott is becoming jaded with the party, when he decided to call it a night. Lucas told him to wait a little for Diana, and that maybe she's just running late. Scott knows she won't come. She dislikes crowded places. He drank the remaining wine in his glass stood up and walked away. Christina was about to prevent him from leaving but Cory held her back offering her more drinks.

As Scott walk by, he saw a glimpse of the stable. He can't help but think of the possibility that she could be there. He paused for a while, and stared at the direction where the stable is. He closed his eyes, placed his hand on his chest and sniffed the air. He smiled as he open his eyes, and let his heart lead the way without thinking twice.

DIANA'S POV

I carefully walked through the bushes and headed on to the stable. I immediately looked for Apollo, whistling gently like how Scott did to call him. In a matter of seconds he peeked out through the window.

"Hi!!!", I exclaimed in enthusiasm, like meeting your bestfriend after a few years.

"Hello Apollo! Did you missed me too?", I said as I carefully extended my hand to reach him.

Apollo snickered and lowered down his head. 'Is this his way of showing approval?', I thought. I touched its face before I caressed it's mane. He seems like he enjoys being touched on the face. I hugged his neck and closed my eyes when suddenly I felt a presence nearby.

"Why am I not surprised to see you here?", a man's voice uttered as I gasp in fear.

I looked away as I watch Scott walk towards me. He was wearing a black shirt and a black shorts. All black like the black flag that he is! "You startled me! Don't do that again", I hissed at him. Letting go of Apollo as I stepped a little away from him.

Scott laughed at me scratching the back of his head. He looked more at ease now just when he smiled. Maybe because of the alcohol?

"You should get sober, you look drunk", I said, as I turn my back and face Apollo.

Why would he leave such a great party, I wondered.

"I drank a little, but I'm not drunk", he said moving closer to Apollo as he caress him too. Apollo seemed to recognize Scott, he turned to his side as soon as his palm touched its face. "Want to run away with me?", he suddenly said. Then, he bent down and reached for a box on the stacked crates, and took a flashlight out.

"Say what now?", I frowned at his question.

"I know a place where you would love", he told me as he handed me a flashlight. He then went inside the stable, came back with Apollo in no time.

"With Apollo?", I asked in shock.

"Yea, it's a bit far if we travel on foot.", offering his hand to let me ride his horse. "And take this as the second part of the debt you owe me", he added.

I almost forgot about my debts. I'm hesitant to be with him because I don't want be misintepreted again. Christina would be furious, and might totally drown be in the ocean if she sees us together again.

I watched Scott check Apollo's saddles. He had this undeniably charming vibe as his unruly hair tousle across his eyes. Each time he take a glance at me, he lowers his eyes and I could see a faint smile. At some point, I think he's just flirting with me like he does with other girls today. Debating with myself, I clasped my hands together with thoughts of satiating my curiosity of where he'll take me and at the same time, not messing with a jealous girlfriend.

Thus, this is hardly date or anything romantic. It's only a debt that's being paid. Eventually, I found myself reaching for Scott's hand. He then walked me closer to Apollo and hoisted me up on the saddle. He then mounted Apollo too as he secured himself behind me.

I asked, "You're riding here too?".

"He's my horse. Besides, I only trust him. He's big enough to take both of us, anyway", Scott held the reins in front of me, clicking his tongue as Apollo trudge through the fields.

With the flashlight Scott gave me, I directed the light towards the way to the trails. I can feel his hot breath behind my ear and his hard chest touch my back. Regardless of our closeness, I didn't feel like he's taking advantage of that. "Where are we going?", I asked, as we head on to the thick bushes, then to the trees.

"Hmm?", I felt the vibrations of his chest. "We're almost there", he said. "You can rest your back on me if you're tired", he added.

I can hardly see where were going. But it seems like, Scott knows where exactly we to go.

In a few minutes, he said "We're here".

He dismounted Apollo first and held my waist to bring me down. He tied Apollo on a branch nearby, as I cast him a ray of the flashlight. I coudn't see anything around. It's mostly trees, and shrubs. "What am I doing here?', I thought.

Scott then looked back at me, with a gentle smile. "Do you trust me?", he offered his hand.

"Can I?", I asked him back. I'm already here so I was hoping that it should worth it.

"Just… follow your heart", he said with his hand still in the air waiting for me to accept him.

I paused for a while, before I finally took his hand. He grab hold of the flashlight too and led the way. His warm hand made me comforted, despite not knowing where he'll take me. As we walk on the soft ground of moist soil, twigs and leaves, I almost trip… tightening my grip on his hand. "Hold on to me", he said, as he place my hand on his arm. For a man, he had this sensual scent that often times I find appealing. I held onto him with both of my hands, and took in more the scent that fragrantly comes from him. All of a sudden, I felt some kind of heat growing on my face. The sounds of the night was replaced by the beat of my heart drumming in my chest.

Finding mg footing, I decided to let go of him. Thinking that with me being too close might give him the wrong signals. Good thing, he didn't mind at all. Not later, we arrived at a small island lagoon. I was so shock in awe seeing how the luminescent lagoon shine brightly under the bed of stars. "Oh my… what is it?", I asked as I rush closer. There were blue lights glistening in the lagoon, as if they had their own stars. I removed my sandals, lifted my dress and stepped in the water. The more movements I make, the more bluish light the water mystically creates.

"It's bioluminescense. I knew you'd love it", he said as he rested the flashlight on the rocks, beaming its ray towards my direction. He removed his shirt, and put down what looks like a lighter before jumping into the water. A large splash of water drenched me, as if he intentionally did it on purpose.

"You're lucky, because I'm so happy I won't get mad", I smiled at him as I held my dress up in one hand, and tucked my loose hair on the side with another.

He laughed and asked, "The water's great! Come here!".

I just smiled and waved no. I don't want to send him more wrong signals so I refused and just sat by the shoreline. I gazed up, and noticed that there are more stars tonight. I closed my eyes and feel the warm breeze on my face as I inhale deeply, forgetting Scott is here with me.

Scott got out of the water and sat beside me.

"Sober?", I asked.

"I told you, I'm not drunk", he said while staring at me. His gray eyes are more prominent under the night sky.

"Diana, how do I smell?", he randomly asked.

Smell?

I'm surprised with his question. I supposed he was just asking if he still reek of alcohol. I can't literally tell him that he smell so good, I want to stick my nose on his skin. I moved closer to his neck and smelled him. "You smell of peppermint and tobacco, just like the first time I met you", I casually answered.

Before moving away, he held my hand and placed it on his chest and asked, "Does your heart beat this fast too?".
