Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: SPINNER

'Highway To Hell' blasting in the background I moved to the music influence me as I used the blowtorch in my hand to finish my own personal work of art.

Completing it just as the song ended.

Immediately after it did I set the blowtorch down, went to pause the music on my phone, and then took off my welding mask.

After which I returned to the work table where my latest creation was lying.

The Spider-Man Armor Mark I.

Smiling I went over the armor with a fine tooth comb, making sure everything was where it was supposed to be.

Then once I was sure I moved it over to one of the Batman-style display cases I had set up in the Web to hold the different variations of Spider-Suits I possessed, until I could get a proper storage facility for them like Tony Stark.

Two of the other display cases are already filled by the way.

One holding my classic and first suit. While another held the Electro-Proof Suit I created.

Even though I haven't faced any electrical-based threats as of yet.

But knowing how the famous 'Parker Luck' works I'm just waiting until that particular shoe drops.

Though ever since the attack by Mole Man a little over a month ago things have been relatively quiet.

I got through Halloween and Thanksgiving without any issues.

Meaning I had plenty of time to upgrade the Web to its current state.

For a Superior Spider-Man needs a superior base to match.

After securing the Mark I armor in its case I closed it.

I then went to get a drink from the fridge I's installed and then took a seat on the couch I brought in.

Taking a load off before I returned to work.

One that lasted only twenty minutes before I dove right back into the thick of things.

For the grind never stops.

[January, 2011]

Oh happy new year!

Wondering what changes and challenges this year would bring.

Other than the possible events of Iron Man 2.

Since just yesterday Tony Stark made the announcement he was reviving the Stark Expo and hosting it for the entire year.

But I'm in no rush for shit to hit the fan.

Even if I've been improving myself in various ways.

Such as teaching myself different martial arts to integrate into my fighting style, or completing the completing and building the Spider-Bots and their drone variants from the Insomniac games.

Which will be essential for when I finally break into Oscorp and learn just what sort of secrets Norman and his company are hiding.

My plans in that particular regard having come along well during these past few months.

Though my research in trying to find a cure for Harry and his mother, not so much.

But that will make the information I obtain when I take my little trip to Oscorp all the more valuable.

Which is why I can't make a single mistake in that regard.

A thing I'm sure my current project will help make a reality.

Continuing to type away on the keyboard in front of me lines of computer code flowed across the screen as I typed without any hesitation.

Until eventually I came to a stop.

I then inhaled and exhaled. Ignoring the pit that was forming in my stomach and the doubtful thoughts that slowly began creeping into my mind.

For I knew myself. I knew my capabilities. So I knew what I was about to do would work.

And I knew I would accept the consequences of my failrure.

So with that I didn't wait any longer and pressed the [Enter] key.

A second after I did the entire screen went black.

Before popping back on and displaying a line of words.

Also known as S.P.I.N.N.E.R. for short.

An artificial intelligence I have created.

What?

Yes, I know the risks.

Ultron, Brainiac, Skynet, etc...

I'm no fool.

I also know I should've waited longer before creating my own AI but sometimes risks are worth taking and I think in this case it was worth it.

Since having SPINNER by my side will once again give me a leg up.

I mean just look at Tony Stark and J.A.R.V.I.S., the Fantastic Four with H.E.R.B.I.E., and of course my boy Revan wirh HK-47.

I mean every great hero needs an AI/robotic companion.

So yeah, no regrets.

"Are you, my creator?" I heard a voice ask from the speakers.

One that sounded exactly like Josh Keaton.

The voice actor of Spider-Man in the Spectacular Spider-Man series in my previous life.

Who sadly doesn't exist in this reality.

I know I checked.

"Yes. I am. The names Peter Benjamin Parker. But you can just call me Peter. Also known as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." I spoke.

"I see." Spinner replied. "So then Peter, for what purpose did you create me?" He asked curiously.

"Now that my friend, is quite the story." I began.

Feeling this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

(3rd Person: POV)

While Peter began introducing his newly created A.I. to the world it was born into, he had no idea trouble was brewing elsewhere.

Entering the prison workshop, as it was the start of his shift, one inmate named Herman Schultz, headed over to his usual work bench and got down to building the items that had been assigned to him today to fix.

The guards basically paying him no mind as Herman had been an absolutely model prisoner.

Few knowing how far from the truth that actually was.

Paying attention to the movement of the guards Herman waited until not a single one had eyes on him.

When he was sure that was the case he opened a secret compartment on his work bench he had installed months ago.

Herman then retrieved the items inside of it.

A personal project he had been working on that was now completed.

Weapons known as vibro-shock gauntlets.

Slipping them one he powered them up, putting a sinister smile on his face.

As this happened a guard walked up and took note of Hermans' actions.

"Hey, what are you doing Schultz?" The guard asked him.

"Oh nothing. Just getting ready for early release." Herman replied. Turning around.

When he did the guard immediately keyed his radio. "Code red. I repeat we have a co-"

The guard began to speak into his radio.

Only to be cut off when Herman fired a blast from his left gauntlet into the guards chest, sending him through a nearby wall.

"Yeah. That's what I'm talking about!" Herman exclaimed.

He then began releasing blasts from his gauntlets all around, desorying walls and the like.

This causing a chain reaction that sent the prisoners into a frenzy.

Thus a riot ensued.

But Herman payed attention to none of that.

Instead he stopped blasting without cause and instead began carving a path to his own cell.

Where he found his cellmate for the past few months waiting for him.

The man who had gotten him the last materials he needed to complete his gauntlets.

Alexei Systevich.

"Good. I see you completed your tools my friend." Alexei spoke.

"All thanks to you." Herman spoke. Blasting open the cell doors and then the wall of the cell itself. "And now as promised, your freedom."

"Good, good." Alexei said.

Right as two guards ran up to the cell in full riot gear.

"Stop right there!" One of them shouted.

Only for both to be immediately blasted by Herman.

"You use those gauntlets well mine friend." Alexei spoke. "Say, how would you like a job? One that will pay very well."

"Depends. What is it you need done?" Herman asked.

"You've heard of the Spider-Man correct?" Alexei asked.

"Yeah. Guy who put you in here right?"

"Yes." Alexei snarled. "A decision he will come to pay for. With his life. And I would like your help in making that possible."

"Deal. But I get half the payment upfront." Herman replied.

"Of course." Alexei replied. "And I throw in a little extra if you build me some gadgets like yours."

"No can do. These babies are one of a kind." Herman spoke. "But I do have a lead on something that will fit you very nicely."

"Very well then. Deal." Alexei spoke.

He and Herman then shook hands.

After which they ran through the opening in their cell wall.

No one any the wiser as the two reached the prison fence, where Herman blasted a hole in it, and the pair ran off.

Their sights set directly on Spider-Man.
