Chapter 8 - Go Back and Keep Fighting

Opportunity knocks but once; gathering all my courage, I took my first step outside the shield. The rest would follow like unravelling a sock; I was rapidly approaching the lone Fallen, but when he saw me too, my surprise attack went down the drain.

"I'm gonna kiss you, come here, I'm gonna kiss you!"

Almost simultaneously, the Drunkard, who had just headed towards another human, started speaking by slurring his words. While we were approaching each other with his other friend, I was face to face with the scene I wanted to see the least; the mob had locked onto his victim and was kissing him slobberingly on the cheeks.

Was this what was going to happen to me in a moment? No, it can't be like this; my life won't be ruined because of alcohol for the second time!

This was the sentence I repeated screaming inside me three steps before the big meeting; however I was influenced, the face of the Drunkard looked just like Muharrem Abi these days.

"I'm gonna kiss you, come here, I'm gonna kiss you!"

"Damn your ancestors!"

I had thrown a punch only once in my life until today, and this was the action that started the chain of events that ensured my presence here; I guess I owed slapping the mob right now to the same event again.

I closed my eyes, took refuge in the Creator, and delivered the slap; I didn't have much hope inside me, I was thinking maybe I could give some damage before being locked.

"Smack!"

A ringing sound echoed in my ears, and there was also a slight pain in my body; normally I would be sad that I got hurt, but right now I was just in astonishment because the ache came from my hand.

When I opened my eyes, the Fallen named Drunkard was laid on the ground, looking with eyes rolling like marbles in their sockets; a breath later, he would slowly fade and disappear.

I had killed him; I had saved myself from eight hours of torment by overcoming a Fallen on my own. I wanted to scream madly, dance like crazy; I had taken the poor guy's mind just as I planted the slap in the middle of his mouth.

It was neither the time nor the place to rejoice; the partner of the mob I slapped a moment ago had already finished off the human he showered with kisses and turned his head towards me.

"I'm gonna kiss you, come here, I'm gonna kiss you!"

I had to run away immediately; I was going to do exactly that if it weren't for the things that caught my eye at the last moment while I was about to turn my back.

There were a few copper-colored coins and a book the size of a hand on the ground; obviously, what I saw was the loot of my first hunt. Overcoming my fear, I snatched them in a single move and started running towards the shield with all my strength.

Drunkard behind me, me in front, we were running; while the unscrupulous mob gave the impression to onlookers that he was about to fall any moment while wandering in his own area, he had become like a greyhound when he got aggressive.

However, fear turned a man into Usain Bolt; I had entered inside the shield with a huge smile on my face. I was proud; I had even received a book by killing a Fallen, and this object looked very similar to what I saw in the Skill Book shop.

What else could happen? I wanted to open its cover to examine this object immediately, but then a strange feeling covered my insides; as if the whole world was spinning, I fainted without understanding what was happening.

I was reliving the feeling of falling before coming to the First Floor of Hell; my flowers blooming with joy had withered, the butterflies fluttering in my stomach said goodbye to meet in another spring.

"Sinner, wake up!"

A bright light was entering directly into my brain, ignoring my eyelids; it wasn't possible not to heed its call.

"You punished a Fallen; now you will be able to access your abilities and values!"

"Go back and continue fighting, do good and reach the day you will attain your salvation!"

The formless light had spoken without taking a breath; I didn't answer, I couldn't speak even if I wanted to anyway. As a sinner, I wasn't in a position to do whatever I wanted.

My insides were being pulled again; although I was very scared the first two times, since it had become a habit now, I would leave myself relaxed as if lying on my back in the sea for the third time.

This was exactly the state I was in when the flow of information started into my brain; I was starting to learn my level and information.

Name: Max

Mana Points: 10

Profession: None

A table appeared before my eyes in a short time; yes, my eyes were closed right now, but I could see what was written very clearly as if they were inside my brain.

I was very happy when my stats were announced; after my first hunt, my access to some information was unlocked. While falling continuously, another text slowly started to appear under the Profession section.

Alcohol Resistance: Special Immunity – Resistance against the effects of Alcohol-based Fallen of the same level and below.

I would say I could have fainted and fallen, but I am already in a fainted state; understand now, such a wave of joy covered my insides, what did this mean?

I could hunt comfortably in the region where alcoholic mobs were; as long as I prevented them from hitting me, I didn't need to fear the eight hours of torment.

Right now, the only thing I thought about was how I gained this special effect and if the items I obtained from my first hunt were still with me. I guess I would get the answers to my questions soon because the falling feeling I experienced was almost over.

It didn't take long; three or five seconds later, I would feel the touch of the soil on my back. While slowly sitting up, I squeezed my hand in panic and then sighed deeply with relief.

My loot was still with me; right now there was only one question in my mind, how did it happen that I gained immunity against alcohol attacks?

Since I had plenty of time now, I would definitely find an answer by reviewing everything that happened with a calm head, but first I wanted to examine the hand-sized book I won.

I cleaned the binding of the book, whose cover was covered in dust and soil, with gentle movements; gold leaf letters that were about to lose their brightness welcomed me here.

Physical Skill: Unstoppable Punch

It was a skill book I was holding; for a while, I looked calmly at the cover of this object with two lines of text.

This place's sense of humor was really very sharp; I had a skill book in my hand for my right fist, which was the main actor of the event that caused me to be expelled from school, and despite falling into Hell because of the raki I drank in the last night, perhaps the last hour, I had resistance against alcohol.

As soon as the thoughts passing through my mind came to an end, all my hairs would stand on end; while lamenting to myself, I had found the answer to the question in my head.

Actually, my sins and good deeds were equal, until a glass of raki I drank in the last hour; yes, this must be it, this immunity was the mercy of the Creator to me because I fell here with only a single sin.

So, what about the fist? That was the beginning of the road extending to Hell again; then I had abused my power, and now I was given the chance to save myself with the same power.

I hadn't forgotten what the formless light said before falling: "Go back and continue fighting, do good and reach the day you will attain your salvation!"

I will fight and do good, the coming of the day I will attain salvation was heralded to me; without waiting even for a moment, I opened the cover of the book and allowed the lights overflowing from inside to fill my brain.
