Shard did not stay overnight at Luviya's place but returned home in the night, after all, Dorothy had mentioned she would come to Saint Delan Square today.
He thought that this slightly busy Friday was finally coming to an end. But as soon as Shard emerged from the basement, Dorothy, wearing slippers, hurriedly ran down from the upstairs lit by gas lamps:
"Oh, Shard, you're finally back. If you hadn't returned, I really wouldn't have known what to do."
"What's the matter?"

"Half an hour ago, your manuscript papers received a message that Miss Danester was coming here at nine o'clock tonight, asking you to be ready... Although I don't know what you need to prepare, fortunately, you're back. It's now ten past eight..."
