Shard gestured toward the back of the sofa, and from his pile of spellcasting materials and relics, a badge with the Duchess's insignia and surrounded by a circle of bone-white edges, capable of detecting witches, flew over:
"I am indeed under Miss Galina's employ."
He showed the badge to Miss Benanis, who recognized that the insignia belonged to another Grand Witch.
"Yesterday, you invited me to meet, but considering the potential for misunderstanding, I temporarily declined. Today, I agreed to meet because I've brought letters from other witches."
The letter likewise flew over, and Shard handed it to Miss Benanis before sitting back with the cat on a side sofa.
The Blonde Witch slightly furrowed her brows as she opened it. The letter was only one page long and not very lengthy, so she quickly finished reading it. At the bottom, there were actually handwritten signatures and seals from four Grand Witches, increasing her confusion:
