Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Plan to Eliminate Salem? Judgement of an Empress

Hi guys, Rosesaiyan2 here again! Back with a new story. So.. this idea had been floating around in the back of my brain for awhile. I kept putting it off, but I figured why not make it into a story? There will be elements of Saint seiya and fairy tail in this story but I don't believe any of the characters from either series will appear in this story.

The exception to this rule would be possibly the Gold Saints from the Saint Seiya Omega universe, but I'm not entirely sure about that just yet. There are demons in this story, but the higher ranking ones won't be appearing until a bit later in the story. So if you recognize a spin off of a signature attack from one of the Saint seiya characters, know that I'm taking some inspiration from Saint seiya.

The portion of Saint Seiya I'll be using is from the Saint Seiya Omega universe, and from Fairy tail... around the Tartaros arc. That's just for reference. Like my other stories, this one is oc heavy. There will be alot of oc's in this story, just as a forewarning.

P.S.- I don't own Saint Seiya, Fairy Tail, or Rwby and the characters. The aforementioned series belong to their respective creators. I only own the oc's who appear in this story.

Chapter 1: Plan to Eliminate Salem?; Judgement of an Empress

The Judgement of an Empress

West of Vale, beyond the dark expanse where the ocean swallows the horizon, lies a world the rest of Remnant has completely overlooked.

For now, it remains a forgotten footnote—a cluster of warring island nations known as the Republic of Guerrin. To outsiders, it is merely a harsh land of old feuds and endless ambition. But on the island of Kratos, tucked deep within the fortress-city of Shura, the threads of a much larger destiny are beginning to unravel.

Inside the Valren Imperial Palace

The throne room was a quiet, imposing cathedral. Pale light filtered through ancient stained-glass windows that depicted forgotten battles against creatures of the darkness, casting fractured colors across polished dark stone. The air carried the faint, ceremonial sweetness of old incense—a heavy atmosphere that easily made even the strongest visitors feel small.

Two figures knelt in the center of the room.

The first was Derek Dragonblade, a man whose sheer presence commanded the air around him. He wore obsidian-black armor styled after a fierce dragon, each scale intricately crafted by long-dead artisans. His dark hair fell past his collar, and his gold eyes—though cast downward in absolute respect—glowed with the quiet intensity of a predator at rest. He was not a man who bowed easily, making his submission a testament to the woman sitting before him.

Beside him knelt Katsura Dragonblade, his wife and equal in every sense. Her armor was the color of glowing embers, featuring a red dragon coiled across the breastplate. Her crimson hair was tied back, and her amber eyes remained steady, carrying the quiet weight of duty.

Standing a half-step behind them was Reynar Tokyoheim, an old friend and seasoned hunter of things that shouldn't exist. His emerald-green armor reflected the style of eastern warlords, lacquered to a mirror finish. Sporting a short beard, he regarded the young sovereign with the easy confidence of someone who had known her far too long to feel intimidated.

Upon the throne sat Emeryll Valharen II—the thirty-first Empress of Valren and the youngest ruler the empire had seen in three centuries.

At first glance, she didn't look like a conqueror. She looked like a young woman sitting very still, deep in thought. Her crimson and black armor clashed slightly with her soft features: blonde hair streaked with dark black, lightly tanned skin, and eyes the pale green of fresh leaves. A staff rested across her lap. Despite her youth, her face wore a mask of measured calm earned through years of leadership.

The heavy silence finally broke.

"Please—rise."

Her voice was soft and unhurried, carrying genuine warmth. The three stood in unison.

Emeryll left her throne with the fluid grace of someone who had long forgotten the burden of her crown. She descended the dais, her staff clicking softly against the stone, stopping just close enough to make words feel unnecessary.

"Black Dragon Lord. Crimson Maiden." Her gaze moved between Derek and Katsura with unmistakable fondness. "I have a task that requires your unique gifts."

"Command us," Derek said quietly.

Katsura dipped her head. "What would you have of us, milady?"

Emeryll's gaze turned inward, as if calculating a complex strategy. "The local creatures of darkness are not our immediate concern. Their movements are predictable, their timetable still distant. No, it is their ally that troubles me—the one dismantling everything we build before it can even take root. Salem."

Reynar stepped forward, crossing his arms. "Then our enemy is Salem."

"Yes." The word was absolute. "She has impeded us at every turn. Her reach extends further than most realize, and her continued existence threatens not just Valren, but anyone who shares this world with us." Emeryll's voice sharpened slightly. "She must be dealt with. Now, while the window remains open."

Derek exchanged a quick look with his wife. "You mentioned three of us, Empress. That implies—"

"Reynar will accompany you, yes," Emeryll offered a faint smile. "And you will not go alone. I can spare one more soldier. I believe you will find the choice... acceptable."

At that moment, the grand doors at the far end of the hall swung open without announcement.

The woman who walked in moved with absolute certainty. She was tall and striking, with long black hair falling past her shoulders and red eyes that caught the light like embers in deep water. Her pristine white armor bore the unmistakable marks of her heritage: graceful horns framing her face and the subtle sway of a tail behind her. It was Yin Lang—demon-hunter, fierce warrior, and Reynar's wife.

Reynar blinked once. Then, a slow, undeniable smile broke across his face.

"Will this suffice?" Emeryll asked.

"More than enough, milady." Reynar crossed the distance in three long strides, and Yin Lang stepped into his arms without a word, as natural as gravity.

Emeryll watched them for a moment, a trace of old memory or longing flashing across her face, before she continued.

"There is one more matter. You will not enter Vale unguided. My elder sister has been stationed there for some time. She will instruct you upon arrival and help you integrate smoothly." She paused, a hint of amusement in her tone. "She can be... exasperating. But she is competent beyond measure, and she is family. Trust her as you would trust me."

Katsura raised an eyebrow. "May we know her name, Your Excellency?"

From the sidelines, one of the Empress's personal guards—a heavyset knight with a silver beard—began to speak, only to be silenced by a single look from Emeryll.

"Siegfried."

The Knight-Commander relented with practiced grace. "As you wish, Empress."

Emeryll turned back to Katsura. "Her name is Glynda. She is my cousin by blood, though I call her sister out of love. If she questions your presence, speak my name. She will understand."

"Understood," Katsura replied.

"We will depart at the first opportunity," Reynar added.

Emeryll gave a single nod and stepped back to her throne, reclaiming her center like a chess piece settling into place.

"One final instruction." Her expression hardened into that of a drawn blade. "Your presence in Vale must not betray your true purpose. Salem has eyes everywhere, and Atlas is endlessly watchful. To mask your intent, you will be formally integrated into Beacon Academy. Derek and Katsura will join as combat instructors, while Reynar and Yin Lang will serve as faculty. You will be visible, you will be credible, and in being so, you will be completely invisible to those who would move against us too soon."

She paused, letting the weight of her words settle.

"Your presence in Vale will be our message to Salem—unannounced, undeclared, but undeniably felt. Like the heavy stillness right before a storm."

In unison, the four bowed their heads and turned to leave. Their footsteps echoed down the grand corridor, fading gradually into the quiet halls of the palace.

A Call Across the Ocean

Left alone with her knight-commander and the quiet emptiness of the throne room, Empress Emeryll allowed herself a single brief moment to exhale. Then, her posture straightened with absolute resolve.

"Siegfried. Open a direct line to the Headmaster of Beacon Academy. And a secondary line to Sanctuary. They need to know our people are on the move."

Siegfried drew his sword—a weapon forged with strange, intricate purpose—and drove its tip deep into the stone pedestal to his left. The stone hummed with sudden energy, the surrounding air shimmering until a glowing holographic screen bloomed before the throne like a window opening directly into another room.

Thousands of miles away, in his office at Beacon Academy, the silver-haired headmaster was already looking up as the display flared to life. Professor Ozpin regarded it with the mild, unreadable expression he reserved for surprises—which were, at this point in his long life, exceedingly rare.

"My, my," Ozpin murmured, carefully setting down his coffee mug. "To what do I owe this unexpected honor, Empress Emeryll?"

A ghost of a smile touched the Empress's lips—not quite amusement, not quite warmth, but something existing in the quiet space between them. "Still the same as ever, teacher. Skipping straight past pleasantries to the heart of the matter."

"And you," Ozpin replied evenly, "seem to have a point you are quite eager to reach."

"I have always admired that about you." She folded her hands neatly in her lap. "I am calling to let you know that within the next few days, Beacon will receive something it has desperately needed—whether it knew it or not. The means to finally end Salem."

The name hung in the air like a stone dropped into a deep well. The subtle ripple in Ozpin's composure was brief, but it was there.

"I don't mean to sound ungrateful," Ozpin said carefully, choosing his words with razor-thin precision. "But are you... certain?"

"I understand your skepticism. Every method ever tried against her has failed. Every weapon, every grand strategy, every fleeting hope." Emeryll's voice never wavered. "However, Salem has never faced individuals whose entire existence is devoted to hunting down and exterminating things like her. Demon hunters, Ozpin. Not traditional soldiers. Not standard huntsmen. Something much older than both."

She locked eyes with him through the screen. "And they are far beyond what you would consider merely human. They are what people become after spending lifetimes fighting horrors most refuse to believe even exist."

Ozpin was quiet for a long moment—the heavy silence of a deeply calculating man. "I presume they will prove useful against the Grimm as well."

"In time. But I suspect their children will find their way to Beacon's halls before long—perhaps not as instructors, but as students." She tilted her head slightly. "Inform your allies. Let it be known that the Valren Empire is making its move. We intend to dismantle what Salem has built, quietly at first, but with absolute finality."

"I will do so," Ozpin agreed. "Though I should warn you, Atlas may not receive this news warmly."

"Atlas will simply have to manage its anxieties in private." Emeryll's tone didn't sharpen, yet it lost none of its authority. "Valren has no quarrel with Atlas. But if General Ironwood mistakes our caution for weakness and moves against our people before we can address the greater threat, he will find that mistake very costly. We have no interest in two great nations tearing each other apart while Salem watches from the shadows. Make that clear to him, won't you?"

"Plainly put," Ozpin said with a faint nod. "I will."

"One more thing." Something shifted deep within Emeryll's eyes—not coldness, but the dull, familiar ache of an old wound reopening. "Be certain my sister hears of this. She must prepare. And I imagine... someone else from the past will be there as well. Someone I once called a friend."

Ozpin studied her expression through the glowing window. "A former friend?"

"Only a hunch." The Empress dismissed the thought with the practiced grace of someone who had long ago chosen to let sleeping ghosts lie. "Tell Glynda. She will know what must be done."

"Then I look forward to your associates' arrival," Ozpin said, bowing his head respectfully. "Thank you, Empress Emeryll."

"Until we meet again, Professor."

The screen flickered and dissolved into nothingness, leaving the throne room silent once more.

Siegfried watched his Empress from the corner of his eye—noting the rigid set of her jaw and the distant focus in her gaze—and said nothing. There were burdens the Empress carried that no knight could ever share. Over long years of service, he had learned not to try.

At a subtle nod from her hand, the commander moved forward to open the second line. Sanctuary awaited.

Departure — Aboard the Bullhead to Vale

The military transport cut a steady, low-altitude path across the open ocean, its heavy engines humming a constant, rhythmic vibration beneath the floorboards. Through the wide viewports, the water below stretched out like hammered pewter under a heavy, overcast sky—vast, indifferent, and wild in the way of things that had never once needed a human witness.

The Dragonblade family occupied the forward half of the passenger compartment. Derek sat with his back firmly against the hull, arms crossed over his chest, his gold eyes half-lidded with the practiced ease of a man resting while simultaneously cataloguing every sound, shift, and shadow around him. Katsura sat beside him, close enough that their shoulders brushed, a detailed map of Vale's eastern quadrant spread neatly across her knees.

Across the aisle, their children sat in the loose, relaxed posture typical of young people at ease with themselves. Maxwell—Max, a nickname he had insisted on since early childhood—was the eldest. Dark-haired and gold-eyed like his father, he possessed the quiet self-possession of someone who had grown up among legends and quietly decided to become one himself. Mist sat beside him, her legs tucked underneath her, gazing out at the churning gray water with the unfocused look of someone deep in private thought.

Then there was Kouga, the youngest. Adopted seventeen years ago out of a quiet grief, a forgotten doorstep, and a night none of them ever discussed in full, he carried his mother's natural warmth paired with his father's habit of watching everything at once.

Across the narrow aisle, Reynar and Yin Lang sat with their own children, Honoo and Shoryu. Both teenagers carried their father's dark complexion and their mother's striking horns and tail with the casual confidence of youth, completely unbothered by being different. They were currently arguing in hushed, lively tones about the comparative merits of two distinct fighting styles, while Yin Lang pretended to read a manual while clearly listening to every word.

Kouga leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

"Where are we actually going?"

The question wasn't loud, but it cut through the hum of the cabin, drawing the attention of the older generation. Brief, practiced glances passed between the parents—a silent shorthand developed over decades of partnership.

Katsura folded the corner of the map. "I'm glad you asked, Kou."

Derek straightened up, shifting his weight. He looked around the compartment at all five young people—his children, Reynar's children, the vanguard of a generation he didn't yet have a name for—and carefully weighed his words before speaking.

"The Empress has given us an assignment. A critical one. But we cannot pursue it openly—not yet. Our enemy is watching, and we cannot afford to tip our hand before the board is set."

"The enemy being Salem," Max stated, not as a question, but as a hard fact.

"Among others," Derek replied evenly. "The Grimm are merely her instruments. She is the hand guiding them."

Katsura seamlessly picked up the thread. "Your training has been rigorous. All of you. But training in isolation—against what we already know, in a world we control—has its limits. There are lessons that can only be learned by placing yourselves among others who approach the same problems from completely different angles. New perspectives. New philosophies."

Yin Lang's soft voice drifted across the aisle. "And there are bonds that no amount of solitary training can forge. Connections built with people who eventually matter to you." She glanced at Honoo, who had gone completely still and attentive. "Friendships made in places like this last a lifetime. Sometimes longer."

Derek nodded slowly. "They make you stronger, too. In ways you can't anticipate. Ways that have nothing to do with physical technique."

Honoo frowned in deep thought. "So where are we heading, specifically?"

Katsura allowed herself a ghost of a smile, enjoying the reveal. "Beacon Academy. The premier institution in Remnant for training Huntsmen and Huntresses. It isn't like the academies you've known—the methods and philosophies are vastly different. But the core purpose remains the same: shaping warriors capable of defending this world."

"And we're going as students?" Shoryu asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The five of you, yes," Reynar leaned in, a warm, wry grin breaking across his face. "While your parents do their absolute best to look like convincing academic instructors."

A round of genuine laughter rippled through the compartment, breaking the heavy tension of the journey.

The bullhead banked smoothly to the port side, and through the reinforced glass, the distant coast of Vale finally came into view. It was a sprawling city of glowing towers and emerald hills tumbling down toward a bustling harbor. And high above it all, anchored to a sheer clifftop like a fallen crown resting perfectly in place, stood the pale spires of Beacon Academy.

Katsura studied the distant skyline with quiet appraisal. "So this is Vale."

"Apparently," Derek murmured, gazing out at the metropolis for a long moment before letting out a slow breath. "Hiding who we are isn't going to be simple."

"When has it ever been?" She neatly folded the map and slid it into a pouch.

The transport began its descent.

The hidden gears of the Valren Empire's long-term strategy had officially begun to turn. No grand proclamations had been made, and no flags had been raised. But with the quiet arrival of four veteran warriors and five exceptional youths touching down on a landing pad in the Kingdom of Vale, something irreversible had begun. It was a message written not in ink or declarations, but in sheer presence, in proximity, and in gathering the right people in the exact right place at the precise moment history demanded it.

Salem would be found. Salem would be faced.

Whether she was ready for it or not.

Author's Note & Closing Thoughts

I hope you all enjoyed the opening chapter of this new crossover!

If you couldn't tell from her description, yes—Yin Lang is indeed a Faunus. I also thought introducing the idea of Glynda having a cousin within the empire would create a fun, unexplored dynamic for the story.

As you probably noticed, unlike in canon RWBY, Salem is not immortal in this universe—she can be killed. However, that doesn't mean it's going to be a walk in the park. It is still exceptionally difficult for ordinary characters to take down a being of her caliber, and I promise I won't make it easy for our cast either.

Additionally, a quick note on General Ironwood: in so many fanfictions, Ironwood either starts out as a jerk or inevitably transforms into one due to his own choices. While he's a fantastic character, I wanted to take a different approach here. This version of Ironwood won't be a jerkface. He might still butt heads with some of our characters' ideals, but he won't fall down that corrupted rabbit hole.
