Roy was stunned by Rohan's words. "What?" he gasped.
"Four people died. Two of them were team members and two of them were related to the team," Rohan sighed.
"Who?" Roy's shaky voice hinted at his anxiousness.
"Remember's Boss's driver and PA? Them and two people named Charles and Irene," he spoke softly.
"What? I just talked to her a while ago," Roy couldn't believe his ears.
"Yes, I know about that. Well, she died right after that," Rohan replied.
"How?" Roy asked.
"Car accident."
"And the other two?"
"Same."
Roy sighed. "So tell me where is Boss?" Rohan's sudden question astonished Roy. "You forgot that I still have access to the cameras," Rohan spoke again softly. Roy averted his eyes away from Rohan. With a deep sigh, he spoke, "Missing."
Rohan took off from the sofa and went back to the computer. "Sengupta and his squad are running around the mansion. I can't look into rooms but I can see what they are doing."
Both of them stayed silent. Everything happened so fast. Roy had never imagined this in his darkest nightmares. "It's like Kolkata Dock all over again."
"What?"
"Five years ago, Arjun and Sharmishtha did a sting operation in Kolkata Dock. It was a big scandal. They saved a group of young girls who were sold to Sonapur. But..."
Roy went silent. "But?" Rohan asked.
"But Sharmishtha got shot thrice during the chase. We couldn't even drag most of the criminals to jail."
"Why?"
"Because most of them were high profile, socialites, businessmen, influential people. We couldn't get enough evidence against them."
"So any leads or suspicions?"
Roy fell silent. He slowly walked up to the window. "I do have a few. One of them would be Roychowdhury."
Rohan gasped. "Are you accusing our current biggest stockholder of sabotaging our mission and attacking a potentially high-profile employee?"
"Well, his past has been extremely controversial..." he halted for a moment and continued, "His family background isn't of a gentleman's. His father was one of the main accused of trafficking five years back."
Rohan sighed. "Anyone else?"
"There are quite a number of them. Roychowdhury is the most in suspicion since he bought our stocks. You do remember the things that happened right before Sharmishtha arrived."
Rohan nodded. A sudden knock appeared on their door. They glanced at each other. "Please confirm your identity and purpose," Roy spoke while standing near the locked door. The happenings of the past few hours had made them cautious enough to not open the door without confirming whether it's safe.
"Room service, Sir," a boy spoke.
"Come later," Roy replied.
"Room service," he said again. Two simple words that made the anxious two men in the room gulp. Their hearts were beating so fast, it could have matched the pace of an F1 car at the moment.
"We said to come later," Roy stated firmly.
"What are the guards doing outside? Shouldn't they stop this man?" Rohan thought.
Rohan was looking at Roy with anxious eyes. Both of them was struggling to think of a way to get out of this situation. Roy was about to call Sengupta when he received a call from him at the same time. "Hello? It's Sengupta. There's a guy outside, he is from my team. Please go with him." The call got disconnected. Rohan had overheard the conversation. He set up some things on the computer and went with them.
About half an hour later, they arrived at this small wooden hut, situated in the outskirts of the town. When they were taken inside, Rohan was surprised to see the level of tech that furnished the house. The room was full of computers, one woman was sitting in front of a giant computer that had eight big screens running eight footages while another person kept eyes on different levels of the mansion with headphones on. They could pick the slightest of sounds and another sensor was picking up heatwaves. One of the men who brought them spoke, "Madam?"
Bending on her chair with thick glasses on, the woman signalled them to come over without taking her eyes off the screen. Rohan and Roy went over to her.
"Whoever has the credentials can take on that computer," she pointed to seat beside her. The computer had four screens with another man working on it. Rohan sat down between them and started working.
The woman and the man were busy giving instructions to Sengupta's team. While trying to retrieve footage from the cameras he had access to, Rohan took a glance at the eight screens beside him. The footage left him speechless. Apparently, there were three underground chambers in the mansion, in each there were twenty girls. All teenagers had injuries all over their bodies. Sengupta was arranging to take all of them to the hospital. Yet Sharmishtha was still nowhere to be found, neither did they find anyone lurking around the place.
"At this pace, we won't find any evidence. All the girls are drugged, they can hardly tell us anything. There's supposed to be something that is going unnoticed," Sengupta was catching up on his breath.
"Don't hurry me. I am trying," replied the woman. Her fingers were working so fast that if she could type any faster, it would be unperceivable in human eyes.
Holding their breath, their hearts beating like it's a hip-hop contest, they kept searching. They couldn't let all of this go in vain. Meanwhile, Roy received a call from the hospital.
"Hello? Mr. Roy, someone sent four black roses to Mr. Singh."
