Rohan felt a chill down his spine as he saw the man who was entering through the door of the hallway. He was surrounded by guards and reporters. His face wasn't quite visible. He was walking forward with his head bent towards the ground. Even though Rohan could barely see him, he could feel the rage, the anger, and the overall intimidating vibe of this guy coming from miles away! There was something awfully scary about the guy that he couldn't really comprehend. But he was sure of one thing: that this person was bad news. He shot a glance at Roy, who stood stupefied. His eyes were filled with terror, as if he had just witnessed the devil himself!
On the other hand, Roy had never even thought of the slightest possibility of this happening! He never thought that the Rey, Sharmishtha's husband, was Reyansh Roychowdhury. Filthy rich? This guy could buy the entire city and still have more than a fortune leftover. Filthy rich couldn't even describe a percentage of his worth. How could she marry him? How could a person with such high morals as Sharmishtha Singh marry a heinous crime lord like him? Didn't she know that his entire family was filled with criminals? Didn't she know that this guy alone murdered over a dozen journalists and their families? Of course, none of that had been proven or was public, but it was common knowledge amongst all sorts of crime investigators.
"Now that I can see who this Rey really is, I think I can nod in agreement with Sengupta. Sharmishtha has really lost her mind this time," Arjun hushed to Rohan.
"Why? Who is he? "
"Reyansh Roychowdhury, a man with more bounty on his head than all of the criminals we have caught recently! I won't be surprised if he turns out to be one of the people who ordered that torture on Shyra!" responded Sengupta. With that, a more vicious possibility flashed through their minds. What if he was just as atrocious to Sharmishtha as well? In an instant, Sengupta stepped forward and held out his hand to stop the procession that was about to enter this wing where Sharmishtha was battling for life. He would not let another ounce of pain get to her!
Meanwhile, Reyansh could feel the hostility coming from the people standing in front of him, blocking his way to his Shyra. At this moment, he wasn't even concerned that they knew about his past or that there was an Inspector holding out his hand to stop him. He took a little notice of what seemed like a child's play to him. As he shot a glance towards them, he recognised only one person, "Arjun Singh!"
"Well, isn't this against his reputation to have a something so mishandled?" He thought. He knew Arjun very well. He was one of the people who had turned the tables on the underworld. He had a fiery reputation among them. He didn't cause as much fright as Sharmishtha, but he had his influence. But at this point, he couldn't even blame him. After all, he had had so much miscalculation himself that he couldn't blame anybody else.
He approached Sengupta very lightly. "Is there a problem, officer?"
"You do not have permission to enter this wing." This is a secure area.
"I do beg your pardon, Sir, but the woman whom you are attempting to protect is my wife. I have to see her. "
"Then prove it!"
"What?"
"Prove that she is your wife and you do not mean any harm!"
Rey nodded and his assistant quickly handed the marriage certificate to Sengupta along with the other required documents. Sengupta scanned the documents thoroughly and handed them back.
"I still cannot let you enter," he sighed.
"I am hoping that you will help me resolve your doubts a little faster so that I can see my wife." His words were light, but the cold tone affirmed that he was losing his cool.
"These documents can be forged and you know that yourself." Unless someone whom I trust can verify this, I cannot.
Rey sighed. He was very annoyed yet very happy that they were taking such good care of her safety. "I think it's time for you to take the spotlight," Rey called.
Suddenly, a man emerged from the crowd. He was tall with a well-sculpted body. His long locks were parted in the middle. He was wearing an all black suit, as if he had come to a funeral. His shoes were clicking on the tiles. He seemed stiff and cold with his narrowed eyes and sharp jawbones. He shot a quick glance over at Arjun from his thick glasses. He quickly paced the hallway and shook hands with Sengupta.
"It's nice to meet you, officer. I am Pranav Rajiv Banerjee." He had an emphatic voice.
"Nice to meet you too. As far as I know, you are a prominent personality."
"Thank you for your compliments, Sir. Yes, I am an employee from The Sight. You must be Mihir Sengupta. "
Rey coughed slightly. "Ah yes, Officer, we don't really have time for a traditional greeting. I came here to confirm that this man here is my friend's husband. Here are some pictures, and I also have a video to show you some proof that I attended their wedding."
Sengupta took the proofs and went to have a chat with the other three. Within a minute, he came back. "Thank you for coming all the way from the UK to verify, Sir. Both of you may enter. Others, I am afraid, are not permitted."
Rey quickly ran down the wing and entered the room where Sharmishtha was lying unconscious on a ventilator. He looked at her. Within a moment, his cold attitude wore off. He walked towards her slowly, with teary eyes. His lips trembled. His heart felt too heavy for him. He held her hands and watched her peacefully. He was not yet informed of her conditions. He sat down beside her head with his one hand around her. He placed his head over hers and hugged her body without lifting her up. Tears were flowing down his cheeks. He couldn't say a single word, even though he tried a lot. He gently kissed her forehead as his fingers moved through her tresses. He sat up as he saw Rajiv enter. His eyes were screaming in pain. He was still holding her hands. He lowered his head to hide his tears.
Rajiv was pain-stricken. He had never imagined in his darkest nightmares that he would have to see her in such a condition. Then his eyes fell on Rey. He stood there glaring at him for a while, for he had learnt something about this man that was enough to make him choke the life out of Rey without feeling anything. And that too, would not barely satiate his anger. But now, as he looked at him, his condition seemed heart-breaking. He could not believe how much this man loved her all the more because of everything he had learnt recently. He could feel his pain. He knew that Rey was trying to mend his ways for her. Rajiv looked at Sharmishtha again. "Come back, Sharmishtha. You have to come back. Don't die on him. Don't die on us," he whispered softly.
He slowly walked up to Rey. He gently patted him on the back. "She will be fine."
Rey glanced up at him like a child. His eyes were red with tears. He was sobbing. Rajiv hugged him lightly. "Oh come on, don't you know that this woman is more dangerous than the whole lot involved in this drama?"
"You know that, don't you?" Rajiv's tone changed to a serious one.
