The carriage ride was silent except for the heavy breathing coming from all three.
"…That was close," Ardyn breathed out, sweat dripping down his brow.
"You saved me, Ardyn," Leon said, letting out a relieved sigh.
"You saved all of us," Luke added, leaning back against his seat. He turned his head to Ardyn with a small smile. "Thank you for that."
"It—It was nothing," Ardyn said quickly, feeling his cheeks heat up. He was always bad with compliments.
"What do you mean it was nothing? You were awesome back there!" Leon exclaimed, his eyes shining brightly as he noticeably became more enthusiastic. It was probably all that adrenaline. "If it weren't for you, we would've been stuck there until the soldiers came to arrest us!"
"I agree with Leon," Luke said. "I'm afraid I haven't been much help. I'm sorry for being a burden."
