Leon nodded, sending a cautious glance back towards the inn as the two of them — with Luke on Ardyn's back — moved through the shadows.
Ardyn, unfortunately, had to move slower than normal due to Luke's weight, but at least he could count on Leon to bring up the rear. Leon was the most skilled of the three of them, so he was the best person to serve as a guard of sorts.
As they neared the village's outer gate, Ardyn almost let out a sigh of relief.
Just a little more, and they would be out of here. They could rest easy afterwards.
But for some reason, Ardyn couldn't shake the slightly uneasy feeling in his heart.
"Do you think there are still some beastspawns out there?" he whispered.
Sure, no more had come to the village, and the remains of those horrid creatures were still strewn about, but Ardyn had seen quite a few of them in that clearing hours earlier.
What if the rest were hiding somewhere nearby? It never hurt to be cautious.
