Lore sat studying his material. He had books on Internia history, and biographies on previous Knight Lord's, Generals, and Kings. He had beginner level spell he had learned years ago, and spells that he had never heard of before. For example he read a book on the inner workings of "Flame Reinforcement" which at its strongest would create an entire suit of armor built of flames. The beginning stages of the spell could reinforce individual body parts of the caster.
Lore found a biography on one of the founding Knight Kings, Lord Dexit was one of the founding Knights of Internia. His feats were boundless and were known across the continent. He tamed a dragon and used it as a mount, and weirded a powerful greatsword forged from a dragons claw with a single hand. Dexit helped build the foundation of the Knights. His valor, courage, kindness, and morals set the guidelines for what the Knights follow. Lore read one part that really interested him; it said that Dexit's greatsword has never been found. It'd be amazing if he had a blade like that.
Lore picked up another book, and read the title out loud, "Foundation for creating spells", he thought that this was probably the most interesting book so far.
The book detailed the process and steps of developing a spell. It spoke of gathering spell power in a single point, infusing it with the element one wanted, and then manipulating the raw magic into what the caster might want. If the task the caster wantedoto accomplish was too complex then the spell would fail, or maybe self-destruct.
Lore sat in the library for hours reading his material asking Rita questions as needed.
The sun was starting to set, and Lore was finishing up by putting his materials away. Ms. Rita had already departed, and so Lore headed for the dining hall. Once he entered the dining hall he saw Lord Koba sitting and eating. There was a plate waiting for Lore, and so he sat and started to eat. "Lore, how do you feel your first day is going? Once you're done with your meal, you will head to the barracks where you'll patrol the city. You'll come back once you're three hours is done." Koba spoke while not even looking up from his meal. Lore ate his food quickly, and downed a glass of wine. With his mouth full he addressed Lord Koba "Yessir, I'll head over in just a bit". Lore finished his meal, stood, and tucked in his chair. He bowed to Lord Koba, exited the dining hall, and started jogging into the city headed for the barracks. He approached a three story clay building. He knocked on the door, and made his way inside. "Hello, Lore reporting for his first day of patrol. Glad to be here and to help. Where can I start?" Inside a bunch of men and women were bustling around, and Lore looked around searching for the captain. He saw a man witn a captain helm, so Lore approached. "Evening Sir, Lore reporting, Fledgling Knight under Lord Koba". A hefty man sat before him, with a big bushy beard and mustache. "Pleasure to meet you kid. Just 'cause you're Koba's flower child doesn't mean you'll get preferential treatmeny. My names Tom. Just call me Cap' or Captain though". He shook Lore's hand firmly flashing a big smile while he spoke.
Lore was assigned to watch the perimeter of Adobis. He was to walk the perimeter and make sure no creatures approach.
The moon was high in the sky at this point casting moonlight across the city. The moonlight highlighted the red clay beautifully. Lore started at the gate and peered outside of the city. From here he could see the sand dunes sprawl out in an ocean of sand. In the distance Lore could see a pack of wolf like creatures perch on the top of a distant dune. They howled, and then ran off into a shadow escaping Lore's line of sight. He was a little worried because it looked like they may have been headed for the city. Lore ran over to one of the guards and told him what he saw. The guard pulled a horn from his waist and blew into it. "Kid those are Thunder Wolves. They use sonic powers to attack and debilitate enemies. You should probably go bsck because they are no joke." As the guard said this his eyes widened in shock as he saw Lore jump over the ramparts. He landed in the sand sprinting to where he saw the wolves.
