Chapter 18 - Snow Demon Lion

The booming roar shook the very earth it felt like. It definitely rattled Lores head and forced him to his knees in pain. Koba and Rita leapt in front of Lore, drawing their weapons. Koba wielded a thin sword with a swirled hilt, and Rita wielded a staff that looked like ancient wood but it was a white like a hot fire. Heat was just oozing out of the staff. A weapon befitting the best flame Mage.

Rita chanted a few line's of spell and after a moment a Dragon Golem formed of magma and rock appeared. This was a Flame Summon: Dragon Golem, and it cost Rita a lot of mana. It was however very powerful being a master level spell.

The Golem reared it's head back, and swung it back down; unleashing a volcanic breathe spewing lava toward the smaller Snow Demon Lion.

Koba brandished his sword, he swung in a large arc, and a concentrated slash appeared from magic energy. Every swing unleashed held the entirety of Koba's strength. Every concentrated slash could sunder a mountain. A medium-sized gash appeared on the shoulder of the larger Lion.

Roar!

It roared in anger and lifted its paw in an attempt to swat Koba away. Koba braced himself, and took the hit. He slid along the cave floor but remained on his feet. Some blood trickled down his arm, and it hung limply.

Koba swung his sword rapidly, unleashing as many sword lights as he could. Various wounds appeared on both Koba and the Lion. The Lions eye was bleeding and scarred and Koba could barely stand. They both attacked each other again, and Koba was able to sever the tendon in the left leg of the Lion.

"Arghhh!"

Rita and Lore looked over at where the scream came from. Both of their eyes widened as they saw blood pouring out of where Koba left arm used to be. His arm landed across the cave, and Koba fell to his knees in agony. Rita had her Golem engage the smaller Lion, and engaged in combat with the larger one. She cast multitude of spells ranging in power. Some spells reinforced her body, while others shot fireballs at the Snow Demon Lion. "Lore, I'll need your support, at least just a little. If you want to survive, get up and fight with me".

Lore was standing toward the back of the cave when he had heard Rita call out to him. He knew he didn't have the strength to fight the Snow Demon Lion. Lore began collecting mana inside himself, and began formulating what spells would work best. Lore cast the spell Phoenix Flame. Which at a high level was a grand healing spell, but at Lore level could close serious wounds. He sent the spell over to Koba and stopped the bleeding from his arm. Geysers of flames also erupted around the Snow Demon Lion.

Both Snow Demon Lion's looked on in disdain, as if to say they were better than all. They roared again, and an icey air emanated from their bodies. It felt like that air could freeze anything in the world.

Rita's Golem reacted and let out a huge roar, and heat began radiating from its entire body. It reared back on its hind legs, and swung its paws down, swiftly. Four giant gashes appeared on the younger Lion, and blood began to pour out. The Lion roared in pained anger as blood drips from its chest. After the smaller roared, the big one turned to look and then they both turned and ran away. They disappeared into the snow just as quickly as they had shown up.

Lore and Rita looked at each other in shock, and fell to the floor sighing and laughing. Koba was still alive but he obviously incurred too much damage while fighting. Lore and Rita agreed that in the morning they would take Lord Koba to a near by town to recover. They themselves would remain on the mountain hunting for the Mammotooth.

The cave was covered with blood and scars. Gashes tore into the rocks around them. Blood splashed as each step was taken, and it started to crunch as the blood became ice. Rita addressed Koba's more serious injuries, and Lore began to cook a meal for them. Once the food was ready, Lore dished out bowls of stew to Ms. Rita, and then hand fed Lord Koba before taking the time to eat for himself. Once everyone had eaten, they all prepared to sleep and call it a night.
