Chapter 90 - Can I have a word. Sure NO

James was watching me dance ballet. His gaze intensified the more he watched. He finally had enough and carried me upstairs. He tucked me in bed and came back moments later. He wore black gloves and he tried to choke me. I didn't fight him and he suddenly stopped. He threw away the cord and chucked the gloves in the trash. I asked him to burn the cords. Jesse was a constant pain. If he found the cord. He could make things impossible for the both of us. He threw the cord into the fireplace and went to sleep. The next morning I had hush puppies, orange juice and a steak. I was wondering where he was. Rose mentioned he was having a bad morning. She saw the angry red welts and put two and two together. She apologized on his behalf and I waved it off citing that I had already forgiven him. She smiled as I finished eating. The rest of the day I was in the library. I unfortunately had no clue who or what had convinced him to strangle me but he froze like a deer in headlights. He stopped for another reason. Whatever it was I am certain it wasn't worth digging it up. He stared at me with such intensity that I thought he burned a hole in me. He apologized before he went to sleep. The next morning he offered me breakfast in bed as he apologized profusely. He gave me a rose and asked me not to leave him. He can't bare to lose me. He is thinking of moving to Europe and he wants me to come with him. When he heard the conversation between me and Cleo he lost it. He would rather kill me than lose me. He wants to lock me up so only he can have me all to himself. I admired his honesty.

We walked out of the house for a few minutes and saw Jesse driving towards the house. I asked James to turn the car around. I had a bad feeling. He was up to something. I just hope he doesn't set the house on fire. So James turned the car around and followed him from a distance. Surely he is up to something. He pulled out a few five gallon water bottles. We parked the car and I urged James to call the police since he was trying to burn the house down. He called security and they called the police as they ran to handle the idiot. James went to help and I was told to stay in the car. Rose came with a taser and zapped him and they dragged him away. I was trying to figure out what things are going to be like in the future when Rose tapped in the window. She asked me to come with her before someone got seriously hurt. The police came and he defiantly tried to hold on to anything to escape police custody. He pulled the gun off a rookie and opened fire. The bullets ricocheted and hit Rose and James. Both died and he tried to blame me. Unfortunately for him Cleo came over and handed documents which states I am a federal witness. So they can't use me to testify. The rookies had to handover the body cams so Tanya could delete me from the video. Once that was done I was taken to a private hanger. I boarded a private jet and came back to New York.

I didn't want to join the police department at the present time so I stayed at home. I was painting and the news mentioned evidence relating to a cold case. The detective in question was certain the killer will be caught soon. He assured everyone that he is getting closer to catching the killer. He was hoping that the newly opened tip line will help them bring justice. He has a few grieving families to answer to. The reporters wanted more information but he walked away. He had an ego the size of a Trump tower. I don't want him anywhere near me. Cleo wished me a great day as she left for work. I was on video chat with abuse victims and charity organizers. My day was hectic. I kept myself occupied with one after the other. My colleagues grinned, "Hey Miss White. What are you up to today?" I smiled, "Building a house for cancer patients and organizing their transport to and from the hospital. Then having their meds taken care of so their only priority is to focus on recovery. The next one is making sure the orphans are paired with loving caring parents who will raise them to be decent members of society." they gave me a round of applause as I bowed and moved on. The new taskforce moved their tech to their station. I was asked if I was rejoining the police. I told them that I will once the doctor clears me for duty until then I am a civilian. These charity events are keeping me sane. They wished me luck as they went their separate ways. The rest of the day was blur as was the dull weekend that arrived. Cleo went out to get groceries and I was preparing for a charity dinner.

There was a knock on the door and I opened it to see the officer I saw in the news the other day. He flashed his badge and asked me if he could come in. I told him that I am late for a charity event. He smiled, "Do these people know you are a serial killer?" I laughed, "That is the most preposterous accusation I have ever heard. Where is your proof?" He smiled, "I saw a few social media footage of you stalking the victims." I smiled, "Do you have a specific timeline?" He gave me the day, month and year. I answered, "I was a photographer at the time. I was taking pictures of models. I have been in several locations photographing for quite a few people. I did freelance work for fashion magazines and helped real estate agents. I have documented proof. Can you tell me if I was even seen near the victims?" His face turned red. His face became sweaty and he looked like he was on a knife's edge. I grinned, "I was hanging with my previous husband who was a serial cheater. Then I spent my time organizing charities. Where would I find the time to commit crimes? Come back when you have actual proof" he asked me to prove where I was between seven pm and twelve am on July ninth. I browsed through my phone and showed him a video where I was standing next to a television with the seven o'clock news. Then the text I sent mom about the traffic jam. Then the stop I made at the soup kitchen that I stayed at till one am to help with the cleaning. I did record the evening so he had nothing on me. I even showed him the texts I sent to my husband who picked me up and drove me home. Did he check Locard's law of secondary transfer. He stared at me weirdly. I smiled, "I am a respectable cop on medical leave. I have helped the law arrest many criminals. Why would I waste my time committing crimes when I am too busy living my life?" He opened and closed his like a goldfish gasping for air when it was pulled out of the water. I asked him to come with a warrant. He wished me goodnight and walked away.

Tanya spoke through the earpiece. She assured me that all evidence has been destroyed so it will be his word against mine. She and the others asked me what the game plan was. I told them we are going to prove his investigation is flawed. He is a good investigator who slipped. He couldn't figure out my pattern since I made sure to leave none. I rarely used sedatives and only one body was recovered the rest are dissolved and flushed down toilets. So the possibility of discovery is minimal. I told everyone to proceed with caution. They promised me that no one will be able to trace them. They are already fixing my alibi. I thanked them as I got ready. I gave the guys access to my recordings. The ones I could use to debunk the prosecution. The guys were thoroughly impressed. The modern day tip line is online where people share ideas and whatever evidence they possess. The detective was after me because of a few blood drops at a crime scene. I happily showed them the video corresponding to said event. Laughter erupted as they reviewed the video before they posted it to debunk the evidence. The video starts with me cutting my finger on a tumbler and ends with me handing court documents suing her for trying to hurt my mother. According to the M.E. the victim was killed somewhere between seven and twelve. But I was in a soup kitchen. The security footage and my personal camera attests to my presence. So I was written off as a mistake. The detective wasn't going to let it go. So he went to every soup kitchen in the city and saw that during the time the recovered were murdered I was somewhere involved in one charity or another. No solid evidence to support that I am a serial killer. Only circumstantial evidence that I had an argument with the victims and a court case. When the victims were taken away the killer used a brown van. Which was never recovered. Security cameras proved that I was upstairs in my studio apartment so he can't prove I was the killer.

He was so sure that he even got a warrant to search my house. All he found was a few boxes of memorabilia of my dead children. A bunch of painting and a decent spice rack. There was nothing belonging to the victim recovered in my apartment. I even proved to him that nothing was changed after his initial visit. He was so infuriated that he started kicking things around. I used my phone and uploaded the video asking if police procedure has changed. The other made sure it went viral. The chief called telling him to apologize for his immature behavior. He apologized and walked out. He turned around and I wanted to imitate Arnold Schwarzenegger 'I'll be back' but Tanya asked me to be more mature. I wished sincerely that he finds the killer before more people die. His gave me the middle finger before he walked away. He will come back but like I said he won't find anything. Since I am a model citizen of society. Cleo came bursting through the door. She hugged me as she tried to calm herself down. She said he visited Madeline in prison hoping for answers. She made it clear that she stayed with us in the hopes to dupe the authorities. I was innocent and there is no evidence in existence that will change that. She refused to rat me out. She believes that I helped find some measure of peace she had lost during the humiliation ritual. The detective pretended to be sympathetic but Madeline saw right through. She made it clear that she has been planning this for months. She was pleased the creep was dead since all the cops did was apologize and set him free.

Tanya asked me if we were pushing the schedule behind. I grinned, "Don't be silly. If we want to dupe him we had better ensure he spirals out of control. Set up a meeting and make sure he shows up. I want to make sure the public doubts his legitimacy. I want to make him sound paranoid." Tanya made the arrangements and I set out. I made sure to look suspicious. He took the bait and came to the meeting. He was shocked to see how I had stopped several women from suicide after the horror they have been through. The chief asked him if I was the one he suspected because he is fighting a losing game. The chief came and congratulated me from using my time to make society a better place. The man was speechless. His expression was laughable especially since one of the victims was his own sister whom he had ditched years ago. She was clean and sober. She credits it to me. When she discovered he was here to arrest me she threatened to sue. So did the others. We kept these meetings anonymous because the molester or someone who enjoys hurting women has found them and terrorized them. He had enough so he just pushed everyone aside and arrested me. The chief pulled out his side arm and warned him to uncuff me. The women promised to bail me out. The chief promised me that I will be released and this will not show up on my record. Since I will be joining the force in a few days time. I walked with him obediently as he escorted me to the car. As the door shut I calmly took a deep breath. The detective was outside the car as the chief was yelling at him to let me go. The radio crackled and a man promised me that he would handle the situation. I just need to stay calm. There was an explosion and the sirens blared so the detective had to let me go temporarily till he found out who was responsible for the explosion. The chief apologized as he left with the creep. I guess I need to watch my back now.
