As James was walking by he saw Jesse walking in. This time he had a determined look on his face. I had the servants dress up as spooks and we waited for him outside. I made sure to get a signal jammers so if he had any sort of hidden cameras it won't work. He came and started accusing me. According to him I gave hallucinogens so he is going sue me. I grinned, "Where is your proof?" He stared at me like a goldfish out of water. He was going to say something when one of the servants used the projector. He saw a spectral figure of a woman in black victorian style floor length with wild unkempt hair. We pretended not to see the image as it passed through our bodies. He stared in horror as these people walked through us. We stayed with indifference. He yelled at me, "You saw it right?" I yawned, "I don't know what you have ingested but I hope it was cleared by customs." The others concurred. He stared till the hidden magnet was activated. It pulled out the knife hidden in the small of his back. He didn't know how to hide it properly because it sliced a chunk of his back before it lodged itself on the tree. He yelled the place was haunted before he ran to save his life. James and the others laughed as Rose repeated, "I don't know what you have ingested but be sure that it was cleared by customs. Savage."
I walked out of the bedroom after a shower to see Jesse sneaking in. I used the bell and now everyone is familiar with how I ring it. Jesse was trying to place a camera when security dragged him to the front door. We searched the place and discovered that he didn't manage to get a hidden camera to spy on us. We stopped him before he got a chance. So we decided to let him place a few and remove the ones we saw fit to. We placed fishing wires here and there. We went into the woods and got some spiders. We even got a snake. The demented one snuck in and hid one in a pot plant in the living room. He hid the next one in James' office and the next one in the bust on the second floor corridor. We then captured him and dragged him out. There was plenty of time to dupe him. We got charcoal and mixed it with foundation applied on a servant. We messed up a wig and he was taught to walk with a limp. I dressed up in black and wore a blonde wig. Rose wore a white dress with a black wig. I had spiders crawling over my hair as I glided past the camera by the James' office. I walked close to the table and opened my hand. A tarantula opened its legs and crawled over to the camera. I picked up the spider after I made it out of view. I glided towards the bookshelf and opened the secret compartment. I took a silent breath before I snuck out.
Rose glided past the pot plant a few times and I found a YouTube channel which has disembodied voices. Then the security guard who was covered in charcoal dragged his feet while he moaned. Finally I had the cook dressed like a lolita and walked around while she was playing with a doll. We set up the fishing wires and the guard attacked the pot plant. The hidden camera fell. The next moment of peace was disturbed when we pulled the fishing wires to make him think that a ghost was pulling them open. Then we made sure to be in the room and not see the ghost walking past us. They would stroke our hair or even stand behind us reading the newspaper with us. We got up and they walked behind us before boredom convinced them to turn around. They walked around and disappeared. This was the proof he presented to the police. A man in his forties came to have a word. He had rich mahogany hair with a slight receded hair line. He had a scar on his cheek and he had a hoarse voice. He had the air of impatience. He looked around and asked James what was going on. The two went to the office and walked out smiling. They shook hands and he went away. Jesse walked in like this place was written on his grandfather's will. The detective looped his hand around Jesse's arm and dragged him out. He warned Jesse to stay out of other people's houses. And start accepting reality.
James watched as Jesse walked away. He understood that we were playing a game to prove he is crazy. The thing is he didn't understand how to record the scene so he took a blank flashdrive to the police as evidence. The guys had a laugh but in all seriousness we just wanted some peace. He was deemed crazy and he had no choice but to stay away. James got permission to place a sign that says trespassers will be shot. Jesse walked away with the look of the purest loathing. He wanted to get rid of us so he can live there scot free. The cleaning crew was replaced. Rose was more at peace. She was enjoying her free time more. James noticed how she would smile more and became more mischievous. These days James wanted to stay home. I was happy to follow my usual routine. Breakfast, ballet, boxing, then a thirty minute power nap followed by a gratitude journal. Followed by a late lunch. An hour swimming and then an hour throwing knives. James and Rose would join. So far the score is a tie. Then Tai chi session before a cold shower. Dinner and an hour watching National Geographic channel. I watched shark week and James asked me, "Why sharks? What is so interesting about them?" I answered, "My father used to physically assault my mom. I used to imagine what it would feel like to feed him these gliding monsters. He died in a ball of flames after his car had mysteriously malfunctioned." James and the others were curious. Rose asked, "Did your father give you those scars?" I replied, "A few. He used to beat me with his belt. I used to free his victims. He wasn't happy that I was getting in the way of happy hour." Both were relieved.
The doorbell rang and Cleo walked in. She saw me and asked me to come with her. I told her that I am staying here. If I go to New York I will lose my mind. I introduced her to James and explained how he had rescued me. She had questions about how I came into his custody. He said he found me on his way home. I was in a car accident. I apparently woke up and told him that I needed somewhere safe. He noticed a man in the car was waking up so he took me and came here. His cousin was nursing me back to health. Cleo was grateful and Jesse walked in. I explained to Cleo how this guy has placed in harm's way. Cleo had him arrested and I explained, "I don't want to go home. I am searching for a peaceful resolution." Jesse managed to get out his restraints and snatched the officer's side arm. He pointed it everyone and demand we leave the house immediately. He will call ghost busters and have the unworldly citizens. I asked him if he ever handled a gun. He explained that he is inexperienced. I explained, "The safety is on." He looked down and I leapt forward. I used my full body weight and knocked him down and the officers cuffed him. The officer checked the weapon. He said perplexed, "This gun has no safety. You charged a live weapon." Cleo gave me a high five as Jesse was taken away. If looks could kill Jesse would have killed a thousand times over.
Cleo asked me to come home. James made it clear that I am not going anywhere. I belong to him now. Which was puzzling to Cleo. She explained that I was on a mission and that is a priority. He said that I was fixing problems that he was unable to. So for better or worse I am stuck here till he passes away. Cleo mentioned that the Sanctuary killer has acolytes looking for me. I explained how my absence will convince them to look in the other direction. She explained how they figured my ability to detect patterns. They have deemed me an asset so they are trying to recruit me. I smiled, "I would rather die in a ditch" she grimaced, "They will happily make that arrangement" I asked, "Where is the US Marshal Jake? Did they catch him? Did they kill him?" Cleo lowered her head in a manner dictating condolence. She muttered, "We found his dismembered body last week. He sent us a warning before they captured him. He asked us to find you. He sent this to Tanya before they broke into his apartment." I took the tablet and saw someone who resembled Henry. I realized it was his twin Jacob. He is a company man so he will take orders and do it. Even if he gets PTSD as a result. He was the one I talked to. He couldn't tell me who Dimka was. According to him there was no such person.
James told her that I am safe here. She was welcome to stay here for a few days but I am not going anywhere. The two had a shouting match and Cleo made it clear. I am in danger. He countered, "Yes. She is in danger. Guess what you are the one who brought it here."I reminded them both, "Jesse brought trouble." Both of them yelled shut up. I walked out with a laughing Rose not far behind me. I made lunch and she asked me, "Did you really help the US Marshal's office? Did they know you were a serial killer?" I mentioned it casually, "Yes most of them know I am a serial killer. I had rescued their loved ones and hunted down their tormenters. They gave me a few tips to bury bodies and taught me how to hide in plain sight." She inquired further, "Were you ever arrested?" I carefully sliced the frozen beef chuck as I explained, "I did chase a guy who hid in a police station. I had to get myself arrested as a drunk. The officers were busy. I had waited till he was asleep. I undressed down to my undies and pulled out a knife hidden in my shoes. I slit his throat and stabbed him repeatedly. I got dressed and hid the knife. I pretended to sleep and the officer woke me up. He wanted to know if I was responsible for his death. There were three others and they claimed innocence. I reminded him that I was battling a hangover. I have no clue what the heck he was talking about. The security cameras were rigged and I was rescued." Rose gave a low whistle. She was curious, "Who is Tanya?" I smiled, "She and her sister were abused by her own father. I helped her get revenge. She and I are like sisters. She is very dear to me. She is agoraphobic. But she has the goodness of the entire universe in eyes." Cleo stuffed an earpiece and Tanya gave me a few compliments too. I asked how Madeline was. Cleo shook her head, "She was over zealous and got herself caught. I was taken to internal affairs for interrogation. They cleared me after Tanya convinced her to say that she stayed with us to spy on us so she can be five steps ahead." James told her to say goodbye and leave. Cleo said she will be back. Tanya said she will delete any and all traces of me. The others were happy to hear my voice. I told her that I will come back when it was time to go until then she can stay in the penthouse. The building is in my name so she can stay as long as she likes.
