I woke up at three in the morning and decided to go jogging. I got dressed and took my gun and knife for safety. I made sure to be as quiet as possible as I made my way. I got out of the elevator to see the valet trying not to doze. So I gave him a flask of hot coffee as always. He thanked me as I walked out. He did warn me that suspicious people were roaming around so I should be extremely careful. As I walked I felt like I was walking into a ghost town As I made my run I saw a few colleagues out and about. They were arguing with a couple. They were told very politely to go home. They turned to see me and asked why I was out and about. I had called earlier yesterday requesting my badge back. So the officer said that I am an undercover cop searching the perimeter for a suspect. So the fact that I am roaming around is acceptable. The couple gave me a dirty look before stomping off. I waited till they were away from earshot to ask why the curfew was implemented. He said that the curfew was implemented to catch a childnabber. I volunteered to assist and he called it in. I got an earpiece and I started to run. I took a turn around the block to see a suspicious character. He was reading a book but I can tell he was pretending. Personal experience and all. So I gave his description as I passed him. The next block I saw the couple and I had a bad feeling so I reported them to the person in the cleaning van.
As I made my way to the park I had a feeling that I was being followed. At first I paid no attention. After some time it felt like an annoyance. I took off the earpiece and hid it before hiding in my usual spot. That arrogant couple from before showed up. The husband was asking whether it would be wise to hunt a police officer. She asked him where his sense of adventure was. She was explaining the thrill of the kill as I closed my eyes and began switching places. I walked in to see a cozy room filled with all sorts of tools. Both were flaying our uncle and savored his screams. I made myself known and one of them ripped out their gloves and flexed their upper arms as a form of exercise before she walked towards the portal. I told them that I was out jogging and some idiots couple decided to hunt me like game. I did warn the person heading out about the police in disguise to search for a baby so be careful as she go hunting the psycho couple.
I got out to see a man and woman having a discussion about ethics. The woman wanted to feel the rush of killing me. I tilted my head as I imagined how I am going to kill them. They did the dumbest thing by splitting up. The man was my first target. I made myself known as soon as I knew the woman was out of hearing range. The man foolishly followed me from a distance. Then I hid to watch him roam around using his phone as a flashlight. He didn't see me at all and yet he persisted. The best part is this area has no phone reception. Which means that if he tries calling his wife but all he is going to get is static. I picked up a small stone and threw over him and it hit a branch and he quickly walked to the ditch and took a peek. I quietly glided over and simply swept my feet and he went tumbling down and hit his head on a rock. I put my earpiece back on and requested Tom to call dispatch. I found a man who had slipped a ditch and cracked his skull. An ambulance was summoned and I quietly called Tanya. She suffers from insomnia. She answered on the first ring itself. I briefed her about the childnabber and she went into action. I quietly searched for the other one. Unfortunately Van Pelt came and I had to curb my enthusiasm. Tanya called the tip line as an anonymous tipper and the authorities apprehended the real culprit.
The woman was arrested assaulting a couple. All in all it was ok. I was dismissed. I felt a presence behind me but ignored it as a rule. I walked inside the valet gave me a warm smile. I went into the elevator and pressed several buttons to confuse the supposed stalker. The numbers ticked away until it took me the penthouse. The guys were fast asleep so I quietly locked the door wedged a chair for good measure. I took a shower and came out to see the silent alarm was activated. I quickly dressed and took a knife from the nearest flower pot as I slid out. A young man was taunting my two roomies with a red hot fire poker. He looked like he was going to brand them both like cattle. I took a taser and he fell face forward as he spasmed violently. I used the knife to cut them loose. Cleo called Nine One One and Melanie got my handcuffs. We cuffed him and sat on top of him and waited till the police arrived. Van Pelt's old brother was laughing in stitches. His phone broke so obviously something funny is about to happen. The uniform cops showed after we got up. So there was no proof of our childish behavior to showcase all over the precinct. The fun was over when he confessed to killing two police officers last week. The watch commander had placed a proceed with caution. The internal affairs made the entire situation look like the deceased were crooked cops.
I got to see the intruder's face for the first time. He had a pockmarked square face, droopy eyes, a raspy voice, broken nose and a scar on his neck. I think someone used a hot clothes iron on him. He was sitting next to a person who wore clothes that needed at least a few dozen cycles in the washing machine. I can smell him from across the hall. His lawyer came to bail him. The two talked and he got into Chevy Impala and drove off. Some time later I came to respond to an anonymous tipper. I found the intruder dead. He was garrotted and was disposed of in a manner that dictates his usefulness has reached its expiration date. As I stepped out I saw a man wearing round glasses, a long black overcoat. He had his hands in his pocket. Whilst everyone else was trying to understand the situation he looked like he was trying to understand the extent of our intelligence. Some were nervous, others visibly afraid but he casually tucked a folded newspaper under his arm as he sauntered towards his Audi. The dumpster blew up and sent garbage everywhere. People screamed and started running or fell down to avoid being targeted. He on the other hand wasn't bothered. In fact he was the only one that knew about the bomb and was ready. He didn't flinch. It was as though the explosion didn't exist in his world view. He sat in his car and waved delightfully as he went to his next port of call.
I called in and he was arrested an hour later. He was brought to precinct for having ghost guns. He wasn't shaken in fact he seemed genuinely interested. It felt like he struck something off his bucket list. He stared around as he was counting the distance between the elevator and the window. As he glided across the room an inmate bought in for questioning broke free. He ripped the gun off an officer and opened fire. After he had expended half the magazine an officer jumped on him like he was a tackling dummy. And others followed not far behind and he was subdued and dragged away. Meanwhile my suspect was on the floor lying still as a corpse. He is bleeding profusely. I put pressure on his wounds. I tried to stabilize him till the paramedics arrived. He had a look of determination. It was as though he was planning. I had to slap back to reality and he gave me a look and closed his eyes. So I thought he was dying. I gave him mouth to mouth resuscitation. He opened his eyes and stared at me blankly. The paramedics came and took him away. The captain yelled at the rookie for not clipping his forearm properly. He spent the rest of his day on paperwork. The watch commander was particularly frustrated but he said nothing. I came to see him with a double decker cheeseburger, a humongous pile of fries and a soda. He gave me a grin as he accepted the food. He asked, "What do you want?" I said, "You are new here and I want to make sure that there is no animosity between so this is a peace offering." He grinned, "May I please know your name?" I shrugged, "My name is Pamela Dalton. My maiden is walker." He tilted his head and I said that I was recently widowed so I am just looking for a friend. He smiled as he extended his hand he promised that as long as I am not trouble he is my friend. As I went out I saw punch a few keystrokes. My guess is he is trying to find out about me.
The rookies and their T.Os were storing their gear as I walked by. The T.O.s happily welcomed me back. I said that I was going to the evidence locker since I believe I have found a serial killer. One of the T.O.s said that they will come with me. He has finished his shift and he has nothing better to do. He want to make his evening productive. I told him to bring something to eat and drink since we will be there for sometime. As I walked into the evidence department. The elderly man happily let me in before I signed in. I reminded him that was bad form. He chuckled as I gave him a box filled with fried rice and grilled meat. I asked to see his evidence logs so I can get a baseline. He gave me the huge book and I looked around till I found what I was looking for. He directed me to the back and I started unboxing. After twenty minutes I found what I was looking for. I studied the case and searched around for similar cases. I found a distinct pattern. This perp was going for women who are successful and are living with their spouses. The spouse was asleep when they were murdered. The preliminary report shows that husband were drugged so they couldn't come to their rescue. The women were stabbed repeatedly as though someone had poured out their frustration in them. The officers believed it was jealous man but I had gone through the surveillance cameras. There was one common denominator in every crime before and after. A mousy haired woman in a sweatshirt and khakis. Her hair was a tangled mess and her clothes looked like they were hand me down. The T.O. came and I asked for body cam footage. I believe I have found a viable suspect.
