Chapter 83 - I told you so

As I examined the body cam footage I saw the tangled hair lady. She had dirty blonde hair, sunken eyes that seemed malcontent with life. Her face looked shriveled like a prune. When she spoke it felt like she was dissatisfied. Her voice sounded gravel and her demeanor was uncooperative. She waited till the body was moved before she walked away. Her walk felt like she was happy to have accomplished something. I had seen that walk during my high school days, my college and rookie days. So this was easy to pick up. I told the T.O. to bring her in for questioning but don't blare the siren because we are not trying to spook her. Dispatch was called and she was found following a woman and her husband carrying groceries. She took a cab and followed them home. She watched the couple go through their routine. The moment the lights were off she went inside. She used chloroform to knock out the husband. The woman was dragged to the living room. She was about to stab her when the police barged in. She threw the knife and tried to bolt but she was tased. They placed her in a squad car and brought her in for questioning. The state got her a lawyer and the person was competent. But she couldn't save her because she was caught in the act. The body cam provided the evidence. Eye witness accounts can be overlooked or even up for debate but security footage from body cams is absolute. Cleo was made a cop as well and she became my partner. Van Pelt got someone else.

I came home to see Melanie was going through security footage from the night of her humiliation. She heard the confession of one the idiots said the name of the guy who delivered to these monsters. It was someone that put her in a state of denial. It was her best friend. He was the one who delivered her to these people. This guy said that he shook hands and he was given an envelope. He counted the cash and walked away without a backwards glance. He became the next target. Obviously we tried the law angle first. He was arrested and a lawyer came and got him out. The look he gave me says he is on a shelf out of my reach. I grinned as Tanya said that she has someone ready to intercept him. There was someone who was following him till he was in a place where he won't be protected. The moment he is vulnerable he is toast. His first stop was an office building. The next stop was a farmers market. The next stop was a gas station and there we nabbed him. He was pinned and chloroformed. They threw him in the van like he was a sack of potatoes. Cleo couldn't stop laughing. She says some things I say makes her want to visualize things. I gave her a cup of coffee as I sat down to finish paperwork. I can hear from the earpiece that Melanie was torturing him. She used the device that mental hospitals use to give electric shock. He was writhing in pain and in between gasps he would start swearing and he would get zapped again.

I walked in and Tanya gave me a box of snakes. I waved my hand and grabbed a pair of gloves. I picked up a three litre bottle and shoved the narrow mouth down his throat. I tilted the bottle and watched as he tried to swallow. Soon he started convulsing as he inhaled the water and he coughed violently. He started vomiting and I didn't wait for permission. I shoved the bottle and kept going. One of the men asked for a garden hose. He attached it to a faucet and twisted the knob. He started convulsing as fecal matter and urine stained his underwear. Once he stopped moving we shoved him in a garbage bag and took him to the junkyard. There was a car about to be crushed. One of the men pretended to be lost so he came to give directions and the body was shoved in the trunk. He walked away and the car was flattened and taken to a discard pile. I asked where the next target was. He was at a blood drive so I asked if they could get me the blood bag. Some were asking if he was going to get framed for something. I didn't say anything till the bag was in my hand. I asked for the nearest lab and was taken to the enterprise's private property. I asked that they separate the red blood cells from plasma and centrifuge the red blood cells. I got a mold for a bullet and they said that blood bullets are a myth. I grinned, "I killed three pedophiles with your mythical bullet." Immediately everyone went to work.

Melanie was given shooting lessons and she was taken by a trained sniper to assist in her killing this molester. She shot him center mass and managed to get out without incident. I was called to investigate. But to the frustration of the forensics department there was no bullet. The M.E. used every method known to man to find it but failed. So no bullet no crime. Cleo and I put up an air of seriousness as we pretended to find the killer. We found none. To make matters worse a rookie accidentally said there was a sniper on the loose in the city. Every crime solver, true crime fanatic and anyone who listens to the police band heard him. As always half the city dialed nine one one. The call center was swamped and the rookie was yelled at by entire senior members. He had to spend the rest of the day rethinking his life choices. He came to hand in his report to a detective. There were several civilians there filing complaints. He placed his hand on his firearm and somehow expended a round. Everyone dove to the floor with their hands on their heads. He was fired and the watch commander personally saw his eviction. The international space station can see the vein pulsating on his forehead. The rest of us had to assure a petrified public that it wasn't the sniper but a careless rookie. Needless to say the public wasn't pleased with our selection. Several sent angry letters requesting a stricter process to accept new cadets.

The streets were filled with cautious individuals and some even took to taking selfies. All in the attempts to find the bad guy. The braver ones started to loiter around places that the sniper is most likely to kill. The reporter snuck in and watched as the M.E. did her best to find the bullet. She used optical devices, x-ray and even ran her fingers between the ribs. She came up empty. The reporter said it is possible that the person used a bullet which dissolved after use. She was told to leave the premises but she ran with the story. According to her the guy was arrested several times for molestation. The police were unable to make the charges stick so someone decided to take the law into their own hands. While some were out looking for the killer. Others tried to make sure every trail led to a dead end. The request came to handover the case to someone else which we gladly did. Melanie was perplexed but I waved it off. The roof was scrubbed thoroughly so no evidence would implicate her. Cleo noticed I was keeping everyone at an arm's length distance. Tanya asked if it had anything to do. Cleo wanted details.

Tanya explained, "Apple was a humiliation victim Pam saved. She was secretly in love with Pam's husband turned kryptonite. A handsome man with a Russian accent. She calls him Dimka. He was her everything until she discovered his infidelity. She divorced after a fellow detective kidnapped her. She escape elsewhere and met DD. The two connected and married at city hall. She return to New York and Dimka chased her like crazy. After the plane DD was held captive by Dimka as he tried to pursue her. Regardless of his feelings for her he had a roving eye. He would flirt with coworkers as he tried to get her to remarry him. She refused. She married her cousin. He killed him not far from the table you now occupy. He used dose her with hallucinations. Some how she found DD while following Dimka for a method of blackmail. DD and Pam remarried and Dimka went nuts. He doesn't like anyone looking at Pam. He would go ballistic which is Zelda calls him the incredible hulk." Cleo asked for information. Tanya further explained, "One day Dimka mentioned in a derogatory manner that she will be Pam. So as revenge she went to the authorities to expose Pam. Zelda made sure to get rid of any. She made Apple look like she had lost her marbles. She made the mistake once. She sent a dead dog resembling Danny boy here. She visited the hospital pretending to a concerned colleague. She had a box of chocolate filled maggots and cockroaches. She listened with delight as Apple went completely mental as she tried to break the metal to get out. The orderlies had to dose her thrice to knock her out. She used to send people to harass Pam. Their job was to record her being psychopath as she was supposed to stab them to death"

Cleo and the enterprise were speechless. I wanted to ask. 'Did the cat get their tongues'. Tanya threatened, "Pam is the sweetest thing you will ever meet but if you disturb the peace. If that smile turns upsidedown then your life is over. The people she trusts can only be counted with five fingers but make no mistake. If push comes to shove Zelda is going start choppibg off fingers. Even if Pam punish her afterwards. Pam has few goals. One is spread happiness and closure. To give everyone a happily ever after which she believes they deserve. Zelda has one motivation. Kill the bad guys so there are fewer problems in the universe. Everything else will take care of itself. Now Corra's awake. She only wants to kill and whether person she kills is innocent or guilty is irrelevant as long as the person is no longer in the world of the living. How these contradictory people exist in one body for so long is giving me migraines. Just don't try anything stupid." I retorted, "Stupid is what stupid does" Cleo mumbled, "Why does she kill?" Tanya showed her a recording if my childhood. Particularly a hypnosis session with my dad. She was pleading but he answered, "The world is not for the weak. It is for those who can do whatever they want. I am going to teach you a lesson for freeing that girl I was preparing to carve." Cleo exclaimed, "He was a killer!" Tanya laughed, "He was a killer. His death was under unusual circumstances. He punished her to be this thing because she rescued not one but five girls. He used to collect milk cartons and keep them as tombstones. She denied him so he decided to make her in his image. She met DD when she was a college student. He was kidnapped by a female serial killer. She rescued him. He suggested vigilante justice. She has worked very hard to fight but unfortunately her father wins in way." Cleo shook her, "no" she informed, "Pam's father made her to kill innocent people. She has been killing guilty people and rescuing victims. Her father is turning in his grave. She gets a notch on her belt instead of seeing missing posters as trophies. So she has fought her father and won." The enterprise confirmed her belief.
