"Cindy get him to the doctors," Phoenix ordered. Cindy ran over to help Antonio, by pulling his other arm toward the medical center, in the next building over. Phoenix turned on Andy kind of like an animal would have. He snapped.
"That's so inconsiderably rude," he yelled at Andy.
Now I could see how Andy was the school jerk. He heard our conversation and did more than place himself in the conversation but also hurt Antonio doing so. He didn't seem to care that he did either.
"Shut up bird," Andy snapped back at him.
"No," Phoenix was really persistent. He stood up and went to stand by Andy. He was a lot taller than him, not that I'd noticed before. I don't think anyone had.
"Madison, go to class," Andy ordered me, out of nowhere.
"No," I told him sternly while standing my ground.
"Madison go," he said again. "Or do I have to take you down too." He spoke like it was a fight. Or war. I was either with him or against him. I guess that was Phoenix's last straw, because he completely went mad. He started screaming. Everyone was now staring but that didn't seem to stop him.
"Andy, didn't I warn you to keep your enemies closer than your friends." Phoenix, he looked down on Andy.
"Yes, but do I take orders from a new kid? No." Andy said, standing his ground looking up at him.
"It was a warning and suggestion that you should have taken," said Phoenix, I noticed his hand move then.
"Please," Andy said snorting, he then went rolling on the ground.
"Doggie pile on Andy," Phoenix yelled. He sat down quickly, after what seemed to be a big punch to his face. Though it was too quick for me to see it.
"Madison. Duck." He yelled toward me. I slid under the table just in time, to get out of the way of everyone. Every boy and girl who knew Andy did a doggie pile on him, whether they liked him or not. The people who hated him jumped harder on him. He was being crushed, probably worse than Antonio's arm was. Antonio! Right!
"Clever," I said standing up, heading toward the doors for the med clinic area.
"I warned him," Phoenix answered following me.
"I won't get on your bad side." I laughed, noticing Cindy at the door coming toward us.
"What happened?" She asked, more confused by the mess and huge pile in the room.
"Phoenix called a doggie pile on Andy. After Andy wanted me to leave so he could start a fight with Phoenix," I explained in a rush. "How's Antonio?"
"That's so mean, cool and awesome," she replied. She gave Phoenix a high five. Then looked at me and Phoenix.
"How's Antonio?" He asked her again.
"It's only a sprained wrist and a bit of his shoulder," said Cindy. We were all probably glad it wasn't anything more, though I bet it could have been.
"Is there still going to be a double date," Phoenix asked playfully.
"Maybe," Cindy smiled. "Who knows." Phoenix looked at me and smiled. I smiled back. I owed him just this once and we both knew it. I was looking forward to it too, being able to hang out with everyone that is. Maybe a little too much, since I never really had anyone I could hang out with before. We ended up racing each other to the clinic. Phoenix being first but too scared to go in. And me and Cindy just behind him.
I didn't notice Andy following behind us, a bit of a mess. While Cindy went in to see Antonio. I thought I'd have a talk with Andy.
