It was cold and wet, rain thumping against the trees outside walls and outside of the tree was Miro, searching and finding pulling bark from the Alder tree and gathering dry wood and walks away from the hollowed tree.
As he searched, Miro heard something; he stopped and looked around and didn't see anything, so Miro resumed gathering materials, then the sound came up again, but this time he got in a fighting stance and growled and yelled, "who's there?" but no answer.
Miro began to feel weak when he heard the noise again, but this time it was closer, so without thinking, Miro gathered up the materials and ran back inside the hollow tree.
The wind started to pick up as the thunder clouds began to rain heavily on the hollow tree, then the walls started leaking, and the droplets started to drip upon Axle and Mira.
Axle was shivering uncontrollably and started to whimper. Mira hears the whimpering and lays beside him and covers his body with hers. Axle's body was hot to the touch. Mira didn't know what to do with Axle's fever, but she lay there and started wondering about Miro and the storm.
Miro rushed into the tree, dropped the materials at the entrance, stood beside Mira, and told her not to make a sound. Mira shook her head. Yes, she held Miro's arm tightly and wondered what made Miro worried.
Minutes have passed, Miro was crushing and mixing all of the materials to give Axle. Finally, he made the medicine and gave it to him "it's not my best work, but it will settle down his fever," then, suddenly a roar came from outside the tree, then the ground began to tremble as if a giant was walking towards the hollow tree. Each step got louder and louder until the trembling stopped, then the terrible roar came beside the tree, and as the creature roars, Miro didn't blink; he kept his eyes upon the entrance.
Miro wanted to know what kind of beast was making that sound as Miro was about to leave the tree. A tug suddenly stopped Miro by the tail. Miro told Mira that he would only take a little peak, then a trembling sickly voice whispered, "don't go out there with that thing. You will kill us all" Miro turns around and sees Axle holding his tail.
With each step the creature takes, the ground shakes. Miro wanted to see how it looked, but Axle held tightly to Miro's tail, then his grip began loosening up, and he started mumbling, "fey blood, fey blood, fey blood..." then Axle passed out and lets go of Miro's tail. The creature was getting closer and closer to the hollow tree, slamming into things, crashing tree branches and logs underneath its weight.
Mira starts covering her ears as the creature roars suddenly, she starts shaking uncontrollably, and her head starts hurting. Mira quietly asks for Miro but no response. Finally, she calls out again, but the third time she screams, "make it stop!" As Mira is screaming for the roaring to stop, Miro turns around and grabs Axle & Mira and takes them deeper into the tree, covers Mira's mouth, and silences her.
It was quiet, the roaring had finally stopped, but the loud stomps of the creature still lingers around the area of the three. Against the warnings of Axle, Miro got closer to the exit of the tree. As he got closer to the door, Miro stopped, and fear and signs in his instincts told him not to move. As he stood there, a giant black arm stump in front of the entrance and a murky muck dripping from underneath it, and each drip lands, a black haze came from it.
The creature leaned forward and began sniffing, and then it started to look inside the tree. Miro bolts out of the tree and tackles the beast's face without thinking. Miro was face to face with the beast. They stared at each other. All Miro sees was bleeding eyes, jagged teeth stabbing through its jaw and tusks. That was as long as he then Miro knew he needed to lead the creature away from the others, so Miro tries barking, growling, and taunting, but the beast ignores Miro, looks back at the hollow, and begins to reach inside the tree. Still, Miro leaps in front of it and says: "leave or die."
