So for the next few days, Jack was trying to learn how to make the sword mold correctly, Tim knew how to create a sword even without using a mold and he did it easily, but for Jack, this was impossible because it required much more work with the hammer to create the sword.
After many days Jack learned how to make the mold correctly and he had something more like a sword when taking the iron out of the mold he had made, Tim taught Jack that after making the mold correctly he would have much less work to hammer the metal until the sword was formed.
So getting to make the best mold that Jack got he started trying to create his first sword, Jack knew after learning from Tim in the last few days that he had to rest whenever he saw that he was very tired.
So Jack finished his sword only at the end of an entire day because he was getting tired a lot in the last few days learning from Tim, Jack was no longer out hunting with Mark and Ron, they had just returned from a hunt and no hunters would come out for the next few weeks.
So Mark and Ron didn't need Jack's help so much just to patrol around the village and go into the forest just to get medicinal plants, so Jack was totally focused on learning from his father how to become a better blacksmith.
The first sword that Jack actually finished was much better than the first one that he tried because it had much more durability, Tim didn't let Jack sharpen the sword because they would reforge it to take advantage of the metal.
It was the same as they did with the first sword that Jack made and broke, but this time Jack was really disappointed, he had made his first sword and wanted to keep it as a souvenir of his first creation.
"I know what you're thinking, Jack, you wanted to keep that sword as a souvenir, but let me say something that the blacksmith who taught me everything I know told me, for people like us to keep souvenirs is not always a good thing."
"If you have a watch or necklace, some useful jewelry or object that reminds you of something you can keep, but a sword that cannot be used is something that you cannot have."
"First because you will be ashamed of her every time you look at her when you become a good blacksmith, and also because you cannot take her with you for life, if one day you have to leave the village, this sword will be just a burden for you."
"So we have to get rid of that burden now when you learn to create a sword that you can actually use you can keep it for yourself because it will be a useful thing and it will mark the first good sword you made."
Jack understood what his father said, but thought that in fact, Tim was just trying to use this as an excuse to reuse the material and not spend more money, Jack had made his first sword, but he had neither put on a hilt nor sharpened it the sword correctly.
After a few more weeks creating a sword every day Jack had already learned how to make swords using less stamina so he could finish the job before, but it would be several months before he could make a sword that Tim thought was really good and let Jack sharpen it the sword and put a hilt on it.
Most importantly, Jack was understanding Tim's teachings more easily after making a sword a few times, Jack really thought that the sword with a sharp-edged blade was the best sword to use.
Sometimes Jack had to spend a few days hunting with Mark and Ron when the village hunters got together to go to the forest, but they never had to go so deep into the forest again after they knew what was going on.
Some traders finally came to their village after several months and told them the news of the kingdom, the traders said that the neighboring kingdom was thinking about attacking the kingdom of Andaria and that was why King Ricardo was so concerned with increasing the defenses of the Kingdom.
He was recruiting more soldiers and asking the city's blacksmiths to create more weapons and armor and they also created large defensive buildings for the castle walls, the kingdom of Andaria was always very rich and so they could have better defenses.
This information did not surprise the villagers as much because the hunters had already talked about it, the hunters were also happy when they sold the hides and materials of the animals they killed in the big hunt.
It seemed that the kingdom wanted more animal materials to create leather armor for some soldiers, so traders offered even greater value to hunters, hunters had already sold enough leather to village blacksmiths and so they could sell the rest for traders who left happy.
Time passed and Jack turned 17 and felt that a lot had passed in the last year of his life, Jack already had another great desire to fight after becoming a hunter and was also worried because of the war that could affect his father and village people.
A few weeks after turning 17 Jack was making his sword with a lot of concentration, he didn't need to rest so many times while making the sword and he didn't make mistakes in the sword's mold anymore.
Jack made the sword with great concentration and after finally completing it in the afternoon he prepared to put it to melt again, but this time Tim stopped him and took the sword, Tim hit the hammer very hard and the sword was still firm.
"This is the best sword you have ever created, Jack, you made a mold correctly and it took less time to make it look like a complete sword, this one you can sharpen both edges and put on the hilt."
"Can I complete this sword, father?"
"Yes, this is a sword that you can use for many years if you want, you can keep that sword as a souvenir of the first useful sword you made, this is a source of pride."
Jack was very excited, but soon calmed down and went to sharpen the sword and put the hilt on it, Tim let Jack do this part only after making a sword correctly because Jack knew how to sharpen the sword and complete it because he was Tim's assistant and did this for many years.
