Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Imperial City, Meeting Again

Annie's so-called roster was actually just an album on her phone filled with pictures of people she knew.

She seemed to wish Summer Ford could get married as soon as possible, and was quite proactive about her affairs.

She enthusiastically made a bunch of recommendations for her, then belatedly added, "But it seems these people can't match the Ford Family's background."

Summer Ford silently rolled her eyes at her.

Annie, were you sent by the monkeys just to entertain?

Although Summer Ford was just a poor student, the Ford Family's background in Central City was still quite decent; average families couldn't compete.

"Someone who can overshadow the Ford Family, overshadow the Ford Family..." Annie anxiously got up, pacing around the room, her bizarre voice repeatedly echoing in Summer Ford's ears.

"Alright, Annie, stop bothering with this. I'm going to help a friend with a part-time job," Summer Ford couldn't stand her, grabbed a shoulder bag, casually slung it over her shoulder, opened the door and walked out.

"Be careful on the road, watch out for riffraff!" Annie stood behind her, shouting with a grin.

Summer Ford's steps stumbled slightly, she turned her head, giving Annie a look.

Couldn't she just not bring this up?

Annie waved her goodbye with a smile.

"I'm really leaving, see you later." Summer Ford waved back, turned and left the apartment.

Her part-time job today was to replace a friend and serve as a waiter at a club. The friend's family had some issues and couldn't go, so they called Summer Ford.

Summer Ford actually didn't like places like clubs; they were full of mixed crowds and things unsuitable for young girls.

However, after being offered double the pay, she weakly agreed.

Money, who doesn't crave it?

Especially with her kind of life, where she had to rely entirely on herself for tuition as a poor student.

The place Summer Ford was working part-time at was called Imperial City, and true to its name, the club claimed to be the most luxurious entertainment venue in Central City, second to none, frequented by prominent figures of the city.

When Summer Ford arrived, she changed into her uniform and was just about to serve drinks when the supervisor stopped her.

"Summer, don't leave yet, deliver this to VIP Room 3." He shoved a purple box-shaped item into her hand, gave her an instruction, and left.

The box's labeled side was facing her, all she saw were the words "Durex."

Extra-large, with glowing lettering.

Summer Ford was thunderstruck by those words, her palm holding the box felt a bit hot.

Why did no one tell her that being a waiter included delivering such things?

Summer Ford really didn't want to do this, but out of professional integrity, she took the item and proceeded with the order.

However, as soon as she left the workroom, her eyes unexpectedly met those of someone walking by in the distance.

Their eyes locked, Ronan Ford was quite surprised to see her in such a place.

Summer Ford felt a pang in her heart, no time to react, she turned and ran in the opposite direction.

Ronan Ford watched her retreating figure expressionlessly, snorted coldly, and swiftly followed.

He finally caught her!

"Excuse me, make way! Make way!" Pushing past every obstacle ahead, Summer Ford ran swiftly.

She turned the corner, ready to dash in another direction, when she collided with another figure.

Raising her head abruptly, she saw who it was, hesitated, and her body fell into the person's arms, pushing him against the wall—
