Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Wallet Is Actually This Flat

Summer Ford followed him a few steps, sticking close behind him all the way, almost glued to him.

Ethan Laurent glanced sideways at her with disdain curling on his lips.

Summer followed him downstairs and out of the hotel, without running into anyone along the way.

This made her breathe a sigh of relief, but she froze when she glanced at Ronan Ford not far away, talking on the phone with his back to her.

He's really still here?

Meanwhile, as Ethan Laurent walked out, he headed straight for the private car parked at the hotel entrance.

The car door opened, and he bent down to get in. The black Rolls-Royce was about to drive away when Summer glanced in his direction and ran over.

"Wait! Hold on!" She stood in the middle of the road, spreading her arms to block the departing car, her hands braced against the window.

The driver in the front seat looked at her in shock, his eyes stiffly turning to Ethan Laurent behind him, awaiting his instructions, "Ethan, this..."

Ethan Laurent kept his eyes closed and said nothing, not even opening them for a moment.

Unable to wait for his consent, Summer rushed to the front of his car, opened the door, and got in.

After getting in, to avoid being thrown out directly, she sat very close to the window, carefully keeping a distance from him.

Ethan Laurent opened his eyes, his previously expressionless face seeming to chill.

His gaze lingered through the gap between them before slowly settling on her face.

"Anything else?" His cold voice carried no discernible emotion, like a millennia-old lake that never ripples.

Summer looked at him quietly, not wanting to tell him she was hiding from a man. Her eyes shifted as she awkwardly offered an excuse, "I don't know where I lost my wallet. My school is quite far from here. Can you give me a ride back? Maybe we're on the same route!"

Thinking that her words lacked persuasion, she added, "Once I'm back, I can pay for the fare!"

When she said this, she thought, he doesn't seem to care for such a small amount of money. Even if she said this, he shouldn't agree.

Unexpectedly, Ethan Laurent replied following her words, "How much?"

Summer was choked by his response and fell silent.

Is it really necessary to haggle with her?

Driving a Rolls-Royce to chase a small fare from her, is he even serious?

Ethan Laurent's gaze swept over her again, lazily letting out two words, "No money?"

"Who said?" Despite having little money, Summer refused to show weakness.

She wished she could reach into her pocket like a tycoon, boldly pulling out a thick wad of RMB to throw at him, but unfortunately... her wallet was just too thin.

Summer was just a poor student. Although the Ford Family was well-off, as a foster daughter, she didn't dare go home often because Ronan Ford kept an eye on her, so where would she get much money?

After countering his words, Summer suddenly regretted it.

With her pocket so empty, what if he asked her to pay first before leaving?

Summer silently watched him, secretly praying he wouldn't say that.

Unexpectedly, as if he saw through her thoughts, he casually replied, "Did I really guess right?"

Summer, "..."
