Money only solves issues if the correct behavior is already present. If you got into debt and don't know how to live without going further into debt, a big payout is only going to result in giving you more room to get back in debt.
Change the behavior first, then consider options such as bankruptcy. Do not try to do it the other way around or you will fail.
