Chapter 4 - 4 JINX!

Alex fingers trembled when the engine started. Alexander felt her fingers and instinctively placed his left hand on top of her fingers. She could not held her breath as his warm hands touched her skin. Her eyelashes flutter rapidly each second his hand lingered there. She felt a surge of waves crushing down on her. She opened her mouth but no sound was heard. His mouth twitched as they make a sharp turn on the road.

Screech!!

Alex held onto him tightly. Her head leaned on his back. His mouth turned into a gentle smile. As wind blew her hair, she smelt his perfume. "

Is this Acqua di Gio? He smells like the ocean sea and the freshness from the rainforest. He's so refreshing like he just took a..."

Alex trailed her thoughts wildly.

"I'm sorry, that was a little rough. Are you alright?" He asked face full of concern.

"I'm fine. Just keep your head on the road." Alex reassured him.

A hint of happiness and warmth filled his heart. He steadied his pace as they headed for the wedding. Alex, on the other hand, wants this all to end. She could not let this man take her heart just like that. I barely knew him.

In the restaurant...

Zach saw what had happened between those 2. He was at awe. He just witnessed his friend, Alexander, liking a woman. He knew he was busy with his work let alone have time for dates. He even had arranged blind dates for him but never went to any of them. He was happy to see his friend that he forgot to follow them to the wedding. A hint of sadness came over him.

He shouted.

"How the hell am I going to the wedding?"

His phone rang, a notification saying he received a message from Alexander.

"Take my car. I slipped my keys in your pocket."

He checked his pocket and the keys were there. He never expected his friend so clever.

In a resort in N city...

The groom is nervous. He shakes his hand and is excited to be married to his soulmate. He looks through the window and is overwhelmed by the guest that had arrived. His father walked up to him and said, "My boy, what are you worries about?"

"Father, what if I stutter in front of the guest? Forgot my vow?"

His father reassured him. "Everything will be alright. Just take a deep breath and remember, this is your day."

Suddenly, his mother came. "Everything alright? It is about to start. Have you seen Alexander?"

The groom replied, "I haven't seen him. He must run some errands. He said that he will come to my wedding."

A knock was heard from the door. It was the event coordinator.

"Sir, your best man is here. Your shoot is about to begin and everybody is here. The photographer is down stairs."

"Thanks. I will be coming in just a bit." the groom replied. The event coordinator closed the door when she bumped into a guest.

"I'm sorry. May I lead you somewhere?" the coordinator asked.

" Uhm yes, I'm a bit lost. May you show me where the washroom is? Thanks." the guest replied.

When the coordinator showed the way, the guest fixed her hair and touched up for the wedding. She went into one of the cubicles.

A group of women enters the washroom and talks about the bride.

"I can't wait to see the bride in her wedding dress." one woman said.

"I know it was a designer dress." another woman replied.

"Well, I know it was a dreamy one, a princess gown I suppose." a woman with embellished hair said.

"I thought it was a mermaid cut." another blurted out.

"We will soon find out. Let's hurry. We have a shoot to finish before the wedding starts." one woman suggested.

As the group finish touching up, they left hurriedly for the shoot. As for the guest who was eavesdropping, she opened the cubicle door and found the wedding invitation that was left by one of the women.

"Charles and Monique Nuptials. Save the Date."

The guest was shocked to the core. She dialed a familiar number.

In the hallway...

A man was waiting for someone when a group of women passed by him. He knew that these were the bridesmaid given that they are wearing their matching gowns and their bouquets in hand. When will she come out? He got worried and approached the door. He heard tapping sounds inside. He knocked on the door and asked, " Are you in there Lea?"

Lea clumsily dropped her phone into the sink. In her shock, she said, "I'm coming out now." She got her phone quickly, checked if her phone has no damage and luckily she did not get her phone wet. At least this has an insurance to back it up. She checked the screen if her message was sent. She walked out the washroom and hurriedly went to look for her.

In the entrance of the resort...

Alexander and Alex arrived in the venue. Her hair was a mess and she needed to touch up before it starts. She was about to ask him when he said, "The washroom is on the left side of the building."

"Uhm, Thanks." She looked up shyly at his face.

"You looked nice whether you have sleek or flyaway hair." Alexander looked at her with warmth in his eyes.

"Are you complimenting me or insulting me?" She blurted out, cheeks reddened.

"You look so cute when you're mad." He added.

She rolled her eyes and stormed off to the washroom. She sent Lea a message before the date.

"Lea, I had a date with the mystery man today. Will explain later. We will go to his sister's wedding. Text you soon."

She heard a notification from her phone. She was about to turn when she bumped into a woman. She staggered to the side and looked up to see Lea in front of her. She was surprised to see her. A man approached Lea and helped her up. It was his friend from high school who she has MU with.

"Oh hi James. Did not see you there." exclaimed Alex. Alex helped herself up when a man helped her up. She turned around and saw Alexander's worried face.

"Thanks."

"..." Lea and James.

Both looked at each other, staring at each other's eyes.

Alex blushed.

Lea giggled.

James smiled.

Alexander smiled warmly.

"So have you seen my message?" Lea cuts in.

"No I haven't." Alex replied.

"Guys, may I have a talk with Alex. Alone." Lea serious tone was heard.

Both guys nodded.

Alexander looked at Alex with reassuring smile.

"See you in the lobby." Alexander said.

Alex nodded.

"What was that all about?" Lea asked.

"I really don't know what you're talking about."

Alex replied.

"What I saw..."

"What you saw means nothing." Alex replied seriously.

Both women walked towards a bench. Unexpectedly, they sat beside a speaker. While they were talking, a loud blast of music came from the speaker. It played Canon in D as the bride's march. Both were astounded and did not expect to be loud. So they went into the washroom. Alex fixed her hair and touched up. Lea gulped nervously and held her breath. She stared directly at Alex.

"You need to know something." Lea finally said.

"What is it?"

Lea gulped and sighed. "The groom and the bride.. "

Before she tells Alex the news, a blast of music came and Lea just burst out what she wanted to say. Alex could not make out the words that she is telling. Finally the music stops. Alex furrowed her brows.

Lea asked, "Did you hear what I said?"

Alex was confused. Lea repeats what she said.

"The bride and groom...It's them." She sighed heavily.

"What do you mean?" Alex blurted out. It seems she have butterflies in her stomach.

Lea gave her the invitation that she found.

Alex gasped. That can't be right, can it?
