Chapter 39 - Volume 1: Chapter 39: Angel-sama Wants to Repay the Favor

"Phew..."

Anna slept all the way until 9 AM before finally groggily opening her eyes.

As the saying goes, "Eat well, sleep soundly." This saying was perfectly validated by the gluttonous girl.

"Weekends are indeed for sleeping in."

Anna grabbed her hair and sat up. She raised her fists above her head and stretched expansively. The blanket slipped from the girl's body, revealing the faintly discernible youthful beauty that was incredibly moving.

"First, let's see what's in today's diary..."

With anticipation in her eyes, Anna pulled out the Losing Heroine Diary from under her pillow.

In the past, the first thing she did upon waking up was check her phone. Now, unknowingly, it had changed to checking her diary.

[When you read this sentence, you are already destined to die alone...]

"It's 'die alone' every time. My future self is way too lame, right?"

Anna complained as she continued reading.

[Last night, you walked home with Sora. On the way, you encountered an angel. You fought with all your might but couldn't win, suffering a major blow.]

[Before going to bed, you seriously contemplated your future and goals.]

[While thinking, you got hungry, and soon your head was filled with nothing but various delicious foods. Ultimately, you fell asleep amidst fantasies.]

[Time passed, and in the near future, you encountered your true fated rival.]

[The three years of high school passed in a flash. With Sora's help, you successfully got into Tokyo University.]

[During university, Sora started dating your fated rival.]

[You turned your grief and anger into an appetite. One day, you unexpectedly joined the literature club. During a club activity, you wrote a light novel, which unexpectedly became hugely popular.]

[You discovered that you had a considerable talent for literature. After some hard work, you became a famous beautiful girl author.]

[After graduating from university, you attended the wedding of Sora and your fated rival.]

[You drowned your sorrows in alcohol and binge-ate, growing old and dying alone as a losing heroine.]

"Eh?"

Anna held the Losing Heroine Diary up to her face, her eyes sparkling.

"I actually have literary talent? I'll become a famous beautiful girl author in the future?"

"Ehehe~"

The corners of the gluttonous girl's lips curled up rapidly, and a bright smile like a sunflower appeared on her pretty face.

"Such a magical diary definitely wouldn't lie, right?"

"So, my future self really can become a beautiful girl author?"

"It turns out I also have an incredible talent."

"It's decided! Next, I'll move forward towards a future as a beautiful girl author!"

"..."

Anna hugged the diary and happily rolled around on the bed, but quickly sat up.

"Wait a minute. Who is the 'fated rival' in the diary?"

"Why is there no name?"

"..."

Unable to figure it out, Anna could only temporarily keep it in mind. She quickly got out of bed, changed her clothes, washed up, inhaled her breakfast, and then dashed out the door like a wisp of smoke.

"Cola chicken wings, mapo tofu, and grilled Pacific saury, here I come!"

Meanwhile.

On the other side.

Sora was at home earnestly writing a game project proposal when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Getting up to open the door, Angel-sama with her long flaxen hair stood quietly outside. She looked up, her voice gentle:

"Good morning, Sora-kun."

Mahiru wasn't wearing her school uniform today. Instead, she wore a pink sweater paired with a white skirt. The outfit was simple, but still super cute, seemingly radiating light as she stood in the sun.

"Good morning," Sora nodded in greeting. "How is your body?"

"My temperature is back to normal, and my body doesn't feel uncomfortable anymore." Mahiru bowed in thanks. "Thank you so much for last night, Sora-kun."

Sora waved his hand. "We're neighbors, there's no need to be so polite."

Mahiru held up an exquisitely packaged box of cookies with both hands, her voice gentle. "These are cookies I baked myself yesterday. It's my first time visiting, please accept them."

Japan has a custom of giving greetings when moving into a new home. When visiting neighbors, it's customary to bring a small gift, basically consisting of small items like cookies or pastries.

Angel-sama had moved in less than a week ago and was making her official visit today.

"Thank you." Sora politely accepted the cookies. "Would you like to come in and sit for a bit?"

Mahiru pursed her pink lips. "Then pardon the intrusion."

Sora: "..."

Wait, I asked you to come in, and you actually came in?

Entering a boy's house all by yourself, aren't you afraid of losing your innocence!

Since he had already spoken, he couldn't take it back. Sora could only bring out a pair of slippers and let Angel-sama change her shoes to enter the house.

"Pardon the intrusion."

Mahiru stepped into the living room, her curious gaze sweeping around.

"The living room is a bit messy."

Sora coughed softly twice. "I'm usually quite busy, so the living room is normally cleaned once every half a month."

"Unacceptable."

Mahiru suddenly raised her voice.

"What?"

Sora looked over in confusion.

Angel-sama turned her body, standing slightly on her tiptoes. Her beautiful caramel-colored eyes looked straight at Sora. Though petite, her imposing aura was quite substantial.

"Cleaning only once every half a month is too unhygienic. With a room this messy, it will definitely affect your mood while living here."

For a guy, cleaning once a month is considered normal, alright!

"Sora-kun, where are the mop and rags?"

Mahiru looked up and asked.

"In the utility room..." Sora quickly realized what she meant. "What are you going to do, Mahiru-san?"

"I'll help clean up the living room." Mahiru replied softly. "Thanks to Sora-kun's care last night, I have no other way to repay you, so I'll help do some chores today."

"No need, I'll clean it myself when I have time..."

Sora politely declined.

"The teacher said, 'A drop of kindness should be repaid with a gushing spring.'" Angel-sama looked up. Her tone was gentle but carried an unquestionable flavor. "Hurry up and tell me where the utility room is."

"...Under the stairs."

Mahiru soon emerged carrying cleaning tools. She didn't start cleaning immediately. Instead, she took out a hair tie, tied her waist-length hair into a neat and refreshing high ponytail, then went to the kitchen, took out an apron, and tied it around her waist. She had transformed into a domestic housewife.

"I'm starting."

Mahiru's voice was cheerful as she began cleaning.

"Shall I help?"

Embarrassed to just stand by and watch, Sora prepared to step forward and assist.

"No need." Mahiru shook her head in refusal. "If Sora-kun joins, it will disrupt my cleaning plan. If it's not cleaned properly, I'll have to clean it again."

Hey, hey, don't look down on people. Who doesn't know how to clean!

"Sora-kun, lift your foot," Mahiru suddenly commanded softly.

"For what?"

Sora lifted his right foot in confusion.

"Your shoe soles are indeed very dirty already." Angel-sama pursed her moist pink lips. Even though she was the guest, she issued orders with the tone of the head of the household. "Change into a new pair of slippers, then take the ones you took off to the bathroom. I'll scrub them clean later."
