Chapter 42 - Volume 1: Chapter 42: Inmate Eight's Life Plan

"Of course, no problem!"

Seeing Mahiru agree, Elf immediately put her hands on her hips, happily lifting her chin.

"Cooking is actually very hard work, so Sora and I should cover more of the living expenses."

Hey, hey, don't make decisions for others on your own, I haven't agreed yet!

"Sora, what do you say?"

The blonde girl turned her head to look, only calling him Servant in private.

Sora thought seriously for a few seconds, and ultimately agreed.

"...Then I will leave it to Mahiru-san."

Going to school, daily life, grinding skills, and occasionally taking on bounties with Kuroneko... there really wasn't enough time.

If Angel-sama could be responsible for cooking, he could invest the saved time into game development. There was simply no reason to refuse.

"Then it is settled." The corners of Mahiru's moist pink lips curled up slightly for a moment, her voice gentle. "I will go clean up the kitchen first."

"S-So frustrating..."

Anna lay aggrievedly on the table.

"Why... why don't I live next door? I also really want to eat Angel-sama's cooking every day."

Although she was full of vigilance towards Mahiru, only delicious food could not be let down.

"Mahiru-san, I will clean up the dishes."

Sora quickly got up to help.

Having Angel-sama take charge of lunch already made him feel bad enough. If he also let Angel-sama wash the pots and pans, wouldn't he truly become a useless person?

"Sora, go wash the grapes." Mahiru looked up, gently pursing her pink lips. "I just organized the kitchen, if I let you wash the dishes, you will mess it up again."

"What do you mean mess it up?"

Sora walked into the kitchen curiously, and was instantly left speechless.

He saw that the dishes and various seasonings were arranged super neatly, like soldiers waiting for inspection. All the labels faced outward, and they were arranged according to the size of the bottles... this was definitely the work of someone with OCD!

"I don't have OCD." Seeming to have read Sora's mind, Mahiru spoke softly. "I just tidied up in passing while cooking."

Tidying up in passing doesn't result in something this neat!

"I will wash the fruit..."

Sora opened the shopping bag, took out the two bunches of grapes he had bought at the convenience store earlier, and began to wash them.

While washing the fruit, taking advantage of Angel-sama not paying attention, Sora secretly swapped the positions of the seasoning bottles.

Before long, Mahiru quickly noticed the misplaced seasoning bottles, walked over, and neatly rearranged them again.

And you still say you don't have OCD?

Seeing something messy, you clearly could not endure it for even a single second!

"..."

After finishing washing the fruit and coming out, Sora sat on the sofa and continued discussing the details of the game design with Sagiri.

"It doesn't matter if the monsters are a bit ugly, but the art style of the Plant Girls needs to be cute..."

"Next are the main plant types and abilities..."

"The plants can also combo with each other..."

Sora earnestly explained everything bit by bit.

His current idea was to make a basic version first to test the waters. A hybrid version or other versions would require too much workload, so those could wait for later.

"Understood." Sagiri nodded seriously, her eyes bright, though her voice was still very soft. "I will go back to my room in a bit, I definitely won't disappoint Nii-san."

Although she didn't know why Sora suddenly wanted to make a game, Sagiri didn't care. Being able to work towards the same goal with Nii-san was enough.

"That sounds very interesting." Elf was full of enthusiasm beside them. "I want to join too."

Sora looked over. "What can you do?"

"Write the script." Elf put her hands on her hips, smugly lifting her cute chin. "I am a super popular beautiful girl author, you know. Since it is a game, it definitely needs a brilliant game script, right?"

"I am sorry, no script is needed."

"Eh?"

"The core is a tower defense game. The entire game only has a few maps, and the monsters are just palette swaps, so the story is not important at all."

"N-No way!" Elf hurriedly pressed her hands together. "Anyway, let me write a bit first, Sora can speak after reading it!"

Sora pondered for two seconds. "Then try writing a bit of the script first."

"Me, me, me." Anna raised her right hand beside them, her eyes full of expectation. "Sora, I want to help too."

As a childhood friend, of course she could not miss out on such an important thing.

"There is indeed something I need Anna's help with." Sora naturally hadn't forgotten the gluttonous girl, softly assigning her a task. "Anna's voice sounds very nice, so you can be in charge of voice acting. Of course, there aren't many lines, so you don't need to worry about it affecting your daily life and studies."

"Ehehe~"

Getting a desired task, a bright smile immediately blossomed on Anna's pretty face. She raised her hand in a salute, her voice crisp.

"Guaranteed to complete the mission!"

Sora raised his right hand, pressing his index finger against the bridge of his nose.

"Finally, there is the game version. I plan to make two versions, one local language version, and the other an English version. The English one is a bit difficult to handle..."

"You can leave it to me." A girl's gentle and pleasant voice quietly sounded as Mahiru walked out of the kitchen. "I studied with a foreign teacher before, so I should be able to help."

"..."

After eating the fruit, Mahiru was the first to take her leave, quietly departing.

"I am heading back too." Elf waved her hand as she walked out. "Sora, look forward to my game script."

"Nii-san, I am going back to my room to draw the Plant Girls..."

Sagiri, full of enthusiasm, trotted upstairs with a patter-patter.

Before long, only Sora and Anna were left in the living room.

"Sora..." Anna lay on the table, her tone faint. "Aren't you and Mahiru-san a bit too familiar with each other?"

Sora shook his head. "I wouldn't say familiar. Although we are classmates, we have only actually talked these past two days."

"Mahiru-san seems easy to get along with, but she actually keeps a distance from everyone." Anna could not help but ask. "What exactly happened last night, why would Mahiru-san ask for your help in the middle of the night?"

Sora chose to tell the truth. "Mahiru-san is actually just like Elf, they are both magical girls."

Just now in the kitchen, he had asked if he could tell Anna the secret. Mahiru indicated that it didn't matter, so he could speak of it.

"Ehhhh?" Anna widened her eyes upon hearing this, suddenly thinking of a possibility. "That mysterious girl who can stop time?"

"That is right." Sora softly explained. "Time Stop is very powerful, but the side effects are also very severe, and I happen to be able to help."

"No wonder..."

Anna immediately grew disheartened.

Damn it!

Why do I only have a Losing Heroine Diary? I want to be a Witch too, and then be close with Sora!

Fortunately, Anna wasn't the type to obsess over things. She quickly adjusted her mindset and looked over with expectation.

"Sora, I have a favor to ask you."

Sora looked over curiously. "What is it?"

Anna gave a thumbs up, her tone firm.

"I want to become a beautiful girl author!"
