"Goddess" Steven swore. "You should have explained it clearly."
Kevin looked away.
"It's too late now," Stefan interjected, "we will not be able to back out. We are far too along with negotiations to backtrack."
"But a demon!" Sebastian said. "Are you listening to me? Kev is going to have to marry a demon. Him of all people."
"I know," Steven sighed, fingers rubbing at his temples. "Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about it. If Devon believes that Kevin meant mating then telling him we mean to kill the demon, is not favourable."
That was an understatement. Kevin sighed. "We are too far, Seb. I'm afraid I must. Devon loves his brother. We are lucky that the Demon intercepted or else Devon would have dissolved the treaty"
"But Kev"
Kevin shook his head. "The 'Ravagers' are on the move already, we need strong allies. I can't just seat around and wait for the end of my pack. Anyway sooner or later the Demon will snap. Now if he wants to play house. I will keep him entertained"
It wasn't a good solution but at the very least the Demon would be contained. They needed his strength too. He hated to admit. But having that monster on their side was dependable. So he would keep him on their side. There was no place holier than his own pack.
"It may be better this way,"Markian added. "It seems Devon truly believes in his brother. We cannot retaliate now. But after a year or two If that monster dies here, then it should be easy. It can be just an accident" He stated
Steven frowned. "Wait, you guys are taking it too far, I didn't say anything before because I was sure that Devon wouldn't give him up. But this is sick. Seriously Sebastian, Markian it's low for us. And Elder Cilia, Edler Thomas aren't you going to say anything?" He hissed.
"Oh so the Ricksons have already started corrupting your little mind Steve. It seems" Sebastian seethed
" Me being with Celine has nothing to do with this Sebastian. Evan is just a kid who was forced to fight." Steven shouted.
"Steven we must believe in our Alpha," Elder Daniel said and the others nodded with him
"Thankyou Elder Daniel, for your support" Markian said much to Steven's anger.
"Did you forget Steve that he tried to kill you? He is a monster. Sooner or later he will snap. They all do. They are defected. They soon scumb to their wild instincts and loose themselves. " Kevin said. Sure there were beasts who remained sane but people feared them. Restrained them. What was different from them was feared and loathed. Evan was the same. He may be sane now. How much longer till he betrays the pack and joins the rouges. These defects do that they always do. So this time also it won't change anything.
"He didn't, did he? I am alive and kicking. Ain't I.... Well I must confess I was ashamed to admit that I lost to him terribly , he is extremely strong and scary. I tried to kill him he only defended himself. That's what you all saw. If he wanted he could have killed me in a snap. But he didn't. I don't think he should be belittled by calling him a Demon. Because clearly he is not. What we have heard were rumours. It's not like it will happen to everyone. Evan isn't like that" Steven said looking furious.
"I had an inkling about that" Stefan said and sighed.
"I have to do it. Maybe you are not thinking but he told Devon that he is my mate, why would he lie if he didn't have any ulterior motive. If he saw through us he could have just declined." Kevin asked. Why had that guy told his brother that Kevin was his mate. It isn't making any sense.
"Maybe he is your mate" Stefan said
Kevin gaped at him. "What...Didn't you say that sometimes you smelt your mate's smell on Devon" He said
"Dont belittle my mate, Steff" Kevin shouted. He rarely raised his voice at his brother. If he did,it meant he was extremely angry.
"You are belittling your mate yourself brother, if he is your mate you are calling him a Demon and if he is not you will hurt your mate by forming a bond with someone else" Steven said.
"Death will be better punishment then being with him. I want to do this for our pack. We don't have a choice here" Kevin said. Sebastian scoffed. "So what you plan to do with him" He asked
"Play house with him. " Kevin said.
It was decided.
Steven glared at him and walks out. He can't believe that his brother is having such disgusting thoughts. He can't. He needed to tell Celine but he can't betray his own brother.
And Stefan he felt like hitting his brother and Sebastian. His mate. What can he expect from the man who hasn't even acknowledged his own mate?. Who treated him like a slut. And was being in love with his brother.
But he expected better from his brother. What was wrong with him?. Stefan could understand that he has always been waiting for his mate. No doubt the situation was tricky. But he could have just given another reason to Devon, or denied him directly. But he actually considered accepting the proposal to marry Evan. And Markian, Was he also so hell bent on killing Evan? Sure there had been some cases among the beast tribes.Chimeras born from parents of different species abandoned as a baby. Beasts that turned out too strong and had lost their way. Kevin was not someone to judge based on these rumours.
But now it doesn't seems like it. Is he willing to sacrifice his mate for a treaty? And plan to assassinate the Albino wolf. Who was just trying to save himself. They had also fought with him with their intent to kill.
