The thin curtain swayed gently in the cold breeze, moving in soft, rhythmic motions that seemed almost hypnotic. For a moment, Jiang Li simply lay there, staring at it in silence, his mind still heavy with sleep. When he finally tried to sit up, a sharp soreness spread through his body, making him pause abruptly as his breath caught.
Then everything from yesterday came rushing back.
His eyes widened instantly, and almost without thinking, his hand moved down to his lower stomach. His fingers rested there carefully, almost protectively, as if afraid of what he might feel. His voice came out soft and rough from sleep, barely steady.
