Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: I Reject My Humanity, Leon!

Passing through the corridor, the two arrived at the upper level of the mechanical room.

The area was divided into two levels. The upper floor served as a resting area for maintenance staff and contained a small lounge. Beyond it was a drawbridge leading to the underground parking lot.

When Ryan and Leon reached the lounge, they found the entrance blocked by a fallen cabinet.

Ryan glanced around—and suddenly felt a strong sense of familiarity.

"Leon… be careful. We still don't know where that monster is."

It took him a moment, but then it clicked.

This was the place where William Birkin first appeared.

As Umbrella's chief researcher, William had injected himself with the G-Virus after his work was taken. The result—

A monster.

Leon nodded.

"I'll move the cabinet. Cover me."

Ryan drew his pistol and kept watch.

As Leon lifted the cabinet—

THUD!

A massive humanoid creature dropped from the ceiling.

"What the hell is that?!"

The monster wore a torn lab coat soaked in blood. Its right arm was grotesquely enlarged, gripping an iron pipe.

And on its shoulder—

A massive, yellow eyeball.

Ryan's heart sank.

"Leon—retreat!"

Leon immediately backed off.

Ryan raised his Matilda and fired—

All seven bullets hit the eye.

But it only staggered.

"Damn it!"

"There's no space here!" Ryan shouted. "Jump down!"

They vaulted over the railing just as William swung the pipe.

CRASH!

They landed on the lower level.

Ryan rolled to his feet—

Just in time to dodge William dropping down after them.

Leon opened fire again while Ryan repositioned.

The two began circling the monster.

Despite its size, William was fast.

And relentless.

Soon—

Click.

Click.

No ammo.

Both of them were out.

And William was still standing.

Ryan felt despair creeping in.

"This thing… won't die…"

Leon was exhausted. His earlier effort had drained him.

Then—

William grabbed him.

By the head.

Leon struggled, his face twisting in pain.

Ryan froze.

For a split second—

He saw Marvin.

And understood.

This wasn't a game.

People died here.

Without thinking—

Ryan threw away his empty gun, drew his knife, and rushed forward.

"Leon, run!"

He leaped onto William's back—

And stabbed the eye.

CRACK.

The blade snapped.

William roared and dropped Leon.

"Get down! Let's escape!" Leon shouted.

Ryan shook his head, clinging to the monster.

"If we don't stop it now… it'll keep chasing us!"

William thrashed violently.

Ryan held on.

Then—

He grabbed the eye.

"Leon! Listen to me!"

"Say it later!"

Ryan grinned.

"Human ability has its limits."

"I've learned something tonight…"

"The more you rely on plans, the more you realize… humans have limits."

"…Unless you go beyond them."

Leon stared.

"Ryan—what are you saying?!"

Ryan laughed.

"I reject my humanity, Leon!"

And then—

He bit down.

Hard.

Blood.

Flesh.

Even he couldn't believe it.

But he didn't stop.

He climbed higher—

And bit into the eye.

William froze.

Even the monster seemed confused.

Ryan didn't think anymore.

If he didn't act—

They both died.

If he did—

At least Leon might live.

He didn't care what would happen to him.

Virus. Death. Mutation.

Didn't matter.

He just hoped—

Leon wouldn't forget him.

---

William struggled violently.

Ryan felt himself slipping.

He couldn't win like this.

No human could.

Then—

He realized where they were.

At the edge.

Behind them—

An endless drop.

Ryan pulled Marvin's badge from his vest—

And threw it to Leon.

"Escape… for both of us."

"And don't forget me when you're chasing girls."

Leon ran forward.

"RYAN—!"

Too late.

Ryan used every ounce of strength—

And dragged William over the edge.

They fell.

Together.

Ryan spat out blood—

And laughed bitterly.

"…What kind of transmigrator am I…"

---

William Birkin (G-Virus)

A high-level bioweapon. Extremely durable, fast, and constantly mutating.

Weak point: large exposed eye, but even that is not enough to kill him easily.

G-Virus

More advanced than the T-virus. Causes extreme mutation and evolution.

Hosts may seek biological compatibility (usually blood-related hosts).

Mechanical Room (Boss Area)

Large combat zone designed for high-level encounters.

Contains vertical levels and a fatal drop zone.
