Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Meeting Leon

Just then, an alarm rang throughout the hospital. Hearing it, the young nurse's expression turned frantic. She turned to Ryan and said:

"Officer Ryan… please don't move. I… I'll go check what's happening!"

Ryan was snapped out of his thoughts by her voice. Looking at her panicked expression, he asked:

"What happened?"

However, the nurse was too flustered to respond and ran out before he could ask anything else.

Ryan carefully recalled the original owner's memories and vaguely remembered that this was the hospital's emergency evacuation alarm. He smiled bitterly.

"They're initiating an emergency evacuation, yet they tell me not to move… Even though I'm not from this world, being in Raccoon City feels strangely familiar."

Ryan checked his condition. Aside from a dull pain at the back of his head, he felt fine. He threw off the covers and took his police uniform from the wardrobe beside the bed.

"Doesn't that make me no different from Leon?"

He changed out of his hospital gown and put on the uniform. Looking in the mirror, he was briefly stunned—he looked surprisingly handsome. His brown hair fell naturally, and his fair face gave him a sharp, clean appearance.

But Ryan quickly shook his head.

"In front of zombies, looks don't matter… you're just food."

He drew his handgun from its holster, checked it, then examined his ammunition.

"Matilda handgun, three full magazines, and forty extra 9mm rounds… Just like Leon."

In the police department, officers were allowed to use their own firearms as long as they were registered. Ryan happened to be familiar with the Matilda—just like Leon in Resident Evil 2 Remake. Since Ryan had cleared the game countless times in his previous life, he knew this weapon very well.

The alarm continued to blare.

Ryan knew he couldn't waste time. He drew the Matilda, disengaged the safety, gripped it tightly, and slowly pushed the door open.

The hospital corridor was eerily silent.

Medical supplies were scattered everywhere, and the lighting was dim. The loud alarm contrasted sharply with the emptiness, creating a suffocating atmosphere.

In his previous life, Ryan had only experienced this world through games. But now, it was real.

His legs felt heavy.

Then—

A scream echoed behind him.

It was the nurse.

Ryan immediately rushed toward the sound. As he turned the corner, he froze.

A man in a white coat was hunched over the nurse, biting into her neck. Blood sprayed from the wound.

"Zombie…"

The nurse was still alive. She looked at Ryan, silently mouthing:

"Help…"

Ryan understood—but it was too late.

Her body went limp.

The zombie lifted its head and turned toward Ryan.

"Gioooo!"

Ryan raised his gun.

"Don't move! I'll shoot!"

Tears filled his eyes. He didn't know if he was grieving the nurse… or his own fate.

The zombie lunged.

Ryan snapped out of it and pulled the trigger.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three bullets hit its head—but it didn't fall.

"Damn it… these are the Remake zombies!"

The creature staggered but kept moving.

Ryan panicked and fired at its leg. The shots tore through its right leg, causing it to collapse and crawl toward him.

Ryan quickly reloaded.

He glanced at the nurse's body, swallowed, and turned away.

"…I'm sorry."

---

Ryan moved through the corridor, avoiding several zombies, and finally escaped through the back door.

Outside was a narrow alley.

After confirming it was safe, he slid down against the wall and sat on the ground, breathing heavily. From the moment he entered this world, he hadn't relaxed for even a second.

Now, exhaustion hit him all at once.

After calming down, Ryan began to think.

This hospital wasn't far from the Raccoon City Police Department.

Based on the timeline, this was likely during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

If he wanted to survive, he needed to find someone.

Leon or Claire.

Going with Jill meant dealing with Nemesis—too dangerous.

Leon was the best option.

After all, Ryan was technically his colleague.

In his memories, the office had even prepared a banner:

"Welcome Leon."

Ryan let out a quiet laugh.

How ironic.

He reloaded his magazine carefully.

Even if he teamed up with Leon, he couldn't rely on anyone.

---

Ryan stepped out of the alley.

The street ahead was chaos.

Overturned cars. Fires. Zombies everywhere.

Seeing it in real life hit much harder than in a game.

Suddenly—

A loud crash.

Ryan tensed instantly.

Then—

Explosions.

"No way…"

He looked toward the source.

A man in a black jacket was thrown by the blast, crashing into a car.

A familiar scene.

The man stood up, shouting toward the flames. A female voice answered from the other side.

Ryan's eyes widened.

"That's Leon… and Claire!"

The man noticed Ryan and immediately aimed his gun at him.

Ryan raised his hands.

"Wait! I'm human! I'm not one of them!"

The man hesitated.

It was Leon S. Kennedy.

Leon lowered his weapon slightly after confirming Ryan wasn't infected.

Zombies were closing in.

Ryan spoke quickly:

"Now's not the time to talk—follow me!"

Leon nodded.

The two of them ran toward the police station.
