Alaric stared down at his glass, the heavy bass of the nightclub thumping in the background. He looked over at Clara, who was laughing across the room, looking genuinely happy. He let out a long, heavy sigh, the stubborn anger in his chest finally cracking.
"I'm tired of fighting you, Luke," Alaric muttered, turning his eyes directly onto his friend. "And honestly... I don't want to interfere in my sister's love life anymore. She's grown."
Luke's eyes widened in surprise. "Seriously?"
"So, I'm only going to say this once," Alaric continued, his voice dropping into a low, deadly serious register as he poked a firm finger into Luke's chest. "You can date her, but only if Clara is actually interested in you. If she feels the same way, I won't stand in your way. But if you ever break her heart... I will personally beat the absolute shit out of you. Do you understand me?"
