Euphoria let out a soft sound as Luce pressed her against the flowers, finally understanding that a man's idea of a "quick" encounter was definitely not to be trusted.
When they got back to the house that evening, Wayne had already finished dinner. Hayes was nowhere to be found, likely hunting on his own. Wayne saw Euphoria's flushed face and knew exactly what had happened. He gave Luce a sharp, angry glare before pulling Euphoria toward the table to eat.
After burning so much energy, Euphoria was hungrier than usual. She was halfway through her meal when Hayes returned, bringing her grilled shrimp he had peeled himself. Since she had been eating everything he cooked lately, she silently added the shrimp to her plate. Hayes watched her flushed cheeks, feeling a warm spark in his chest. He fought the urge to hug her, turned, and quietly went into the other room.
