"Luce, you shift back too," Euphoria said, turning her attention to the massive snake. "I need to see if you're actually hurt."
She hadn't expected him to be as flustered as Wayne; she was purely concerned about his injuries. Luce's violet eyes flickered with hesitation. He flicked his tongue, signaling that he was perfectly fine, and remained in his beast form.
Euphoria reasoned that since Luce was significantly stronger than Wayne, and Wayne had escaped with only minor scrapes, Luce was likely telling the truth. She didn't press him. Instead, she turned back to Wayne and his singed, spiky blond hair. Feigning a look of deep disgust, she sighed. "Come here and sit down. I have to fix this mess."
Wayne's mood, which had been plummeting because he thought Euphoria found him unattractive, rebounded instantly. He scrambled onto a nearby stone chair, looking hopeful.
