Chapter 65 - Chapter 65 A secret game

It was another bright, busy morning in Washington D.C.

Inside his large, quiet office, Sam had finally figured out the perfect way to survive his boring political job.

Natasha was not there with him today because she had to go on a secret mission for SHIELD.

Sitting at the heavy wooden desk was a perfect, identical clone of Sam made entirely of wood.

The clone was reading long, boring tax reports and signing papers extremely fast.

The real Sam was happily laying upside down on the soft leather sofa.

He was holding his phone, deeply focused on playing Angry Birds 2.

Because the Mind Stone rested peacefully inside his soul, Sam could easily split his consciousness into two.

He could do all of his boring government work and play his video games at the exact same time without making a single mistake.

"Take that, you green pigs,"

Sam muttered to himself, pulling back his finger on the screen.

Suddenly, a loud noise came from the outside balcony.

Someone flew right through the open glass doors and crashed heavily onto the office carpet.

Sam instantly dropped his phone.

He jumped up from the sofa.

Laying on the floor was a beautiful woman with bright blonde hair.

She was wearing a white outfit, but it was torn and stained with dark blood.

She was badly injured, holding her side and breathing heavily.

It was Emma Frost.

"Emma?"

Sam said, quickly rushing over to her.

He knelt down on the carpet and carefully supported her back.

He didn't waste a single second asking questions.

Sam reached into his spatial ring and pulled out a glowing, pure white pill.

"Open your mouth and swallow this,"

Sam instructed gently, placing the Great Buddha Pill on her lips.

"It has very strong healing properties."

Emma weakly swallowed the pill.

Almost instantly, a warm, golden light washed over her pale skin. Her deep cuts closed up.

Her breathing became steady and completely normal. The terrible pain faded away.

Emma let out a long, shaking breath.

She slowly sat up and leaned against Sam's strong chest.

"Thank you,"

Emma whispered, looking up at his handsome, worried face.

"What happened?"

Sam asked, his voice turning serious.

"I was ambushed,"

Emma explained, her voice full of bitter anger.

"It was the leaders of the Hellfire Club. They set a very clever trap for me. I barely managed to fly out of there using my telekinesis."

Sam frowned.

"But you are part of the Brotherhood, Emma. Why did you come all the way here to Washington? Why didn't you go to Erik?"

Emma looked down at her hands.

"Because when I was bleeding, and when I thought I was going to die..."

Emma whispered honestly, looking back into his deep, peaceful eyes.

"The very first person who came into my mind was you, Sam. Not Erik. Not the Brotherhood. You are the only person in this entire world who actually makes me feel safe."

Sam felt a soft warmth in his heart.

"You can stay here,"

Sam told her gently.

"Stay with me as long as you need."

"Just until Erik settles the score,"

Emma smiled softly.

"Erik is an Omega-level mutant. Once he finds out what the Hellfire Club did to me, he is going to absolutely destroy them. There won't be anything left of their club by tomorrow morning."

"Good,"

Sam nodded calmly.

He knew exactly how dangerous Magneto could be when his people were attacked.

Sam helped Emma stand up. He guided her over to the soft leather sofa.

"My clone is handling the paperwork today,"

Sam told her, pointing to the wooden copy of himself still working at the desk.

"So make yourself completely at home. Do whatever you want, Emma."

Sam picked his phone back up from the carpet.

He sat down on the sofa and opened Angry Birds 2 right where he had left off.

Emma smiled.

She didn't go find a spare room or a place to hide.

She simply sat down right next to him.

She kicked off her white boots, curled her legs up on the sofa, and leaned her head comfortably on his broad shoulder.

They had been texting each other and meeting up secretly for coffee for the past few months.

They had grown close.

So, leaning against him like this didn't feel strange at all.

It just felt perfectly normal, and completely safe.

Emma shifted comfortably on the soft leather sofa. She looked up at Sam's handsome face as he played his game.

"Sam,"

Emma whispered softly, breaking the quiet silence of the office.

"Promise me you won't tell your girls about us yet. Don't tell Jean or Ororo or anyone that I am here."

Sam paused his game.

He looked down at her, raising an eyebrow in mild confusion.

"Why not?"

Sam asked smoothly.

"They are very kind and welcoming. They would not mind you staying with us at all."

A wicked, playful smile slowly grew on Emma's beautiful face.

"I know they wouldn't,"

Emma chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

"But I have a little secret kink, Sam. I like the thrill. I want to act like I am secretly stealing their man away from them. Just for a little while, before I officially introduce myself into your big family."

Sam could not help but smile at her clever, tricky mind.

"You and Wanda just want to get back at the X-Men girls, don't you?"

Sam guessed, seeing right through her plan.

"Maybe just a little bit,"

Emma admitted, her smile turning into a proud smirk.

"Jean and Ororo always act so perfectly well. Wanda and I want to shake things up. We want to show them that the Brotherhood girls know how to play the game, too. Wanda completely agrees with my plan."

"Is Wanda going to try and steal me, too?"

Sam asked, highly amused by the whole situation.

"She wants to,"

Emma laughed softly.

"But Wanda is much more reserved and shy. Erik is very overprotective of her. It is hard for her to sneak around. But she is just as interested in you as I am."

Sam let out a low, deep chuckle. He shook his head.

The political world was terrified of the great rivalry between the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants.

They thought it was a violent war.

But to Sam, it was just a group of beautiful women fighting over his attention.

"Alright,"

Sam smiled, going back to his game.

"Your secret is completely safe with me, Emma. Play your game."

A few hours passed peacefully.

The wooden clone kept signing papers at the desk, while Sam and Emma relaxed on the sofa.

Suddenly, Emma's phone began to vibrate loudly on the glass coffee table.

Emma sat up and looked at the screen.

"It is Erik,"

Emma said, her voice turning serious.

She answered the phone and put it on speaker so Sam could hear.

"Emma. Are you safe?"

Erik's deep, powerful voice came through the phone.

"I am perfectly fine, Erik,"

Emma answered smoothly.

"I found a very safe place to hide. How did it go with the Hellfire Club?"

"They are no more,"

Erik stated coldly.

"The leaders who hurt you have been dealt with. Their building is nothing but crushed metal and dust. You can come back now."

"Thank you, Erik. I will see you soon,"

Emma said, ending the call.

She turned to Sam.

She was completely healed, full of energy, and her enemies were gone.

Emma stood up from the sofa and smoothed out her white outfit.

She leaned down and pressed a soft, sweet kiss right on Sam's lips.

"I have to go back to the Brotherhood now,"

Emma whispered against his lips, her eyes full of heavy promises.

"But Wanda and I have already decided. We are going to come to your mansion next week. We are going to crash your little family party."

Sam looked at her confident, beautiful smile.

He didn't argue or try to stop her.

He just gave her a simple, calm nod.

"I will leave the front door unlocked,"

Sam smiled.

After Emma left, Sam let his wooden clone finish the rest of the paperwork for the day.

He decided it was a good time to go check on his good friend.

A short time later, Sam arrived at Tony Stark's private home.

He walked into the warm, quiet living room and smiled.

Tony was sitting on the couch right next to Pepper.

Pepper was gently holding their beautiful new baby girl, Morgan.

Morgan was laughing softly, her little hands reaching up.

She was an incredibly healthy baby. Because

Sam had taught Pepper how to gather and use Qi during her pregnancy, Morgan was born full of bright, pure energy.

She was much stronger and healthier than any normal human child.

"Sam!"

Tony smiled brightly, standing up to give his friend a tight hug.

"It is so good to see you, man. I am glad you finally found some time to escape your boring political office."

"It is good to see you too, Tony, And don't forget it was you who put me in that office."

Sam laughed, walking over to look at the baby.

"She is absolutely perfect, Pepper. Look at how strong she is."

"Thank you, Sam,"

Pepper smiled warmly, kissing Morgan's little forehead.

"She sleeps so well, and she rarely cries. The Qi training really made a huge difference. We are so grateful."

"We are family. You don't have to thank me,"

Sam said gently.

He sat down in a comfortable chair across from them.

He looked at Tony, and his peaceful face slowly turned a little more serious.

"I know you have been incredibly busy being a new dad, Tony,"

Sam started, keeping his voice low so he wouldn't startle the baby.

"But I have to ask. How is the special project going? The one about traveling into deep space?"

Tony's tired eyes suddenly lit up with pure, proud excitement. He leaned forward.

"Going? Sam, the project isn't just going,"

Tony grinned his classic Stark grin.

"I actually finished it a few days ago."

Sam raised an eyebrow. He was genuinely impressed.

"You finished it already?"

Sam asked.

"Of course I did. I am a genius,"

Tony chuckled softly.

"I built exactly what you asked for. It is a massive, deep-space battleship. I used the special metal you brought back from Asgard and combined it with my absolute best technology. It has living quarters, a training room, and a warp drive."

"And the defenses?"

Sam asked, knowing how dangerous the dark corners of the galaxy could be.

"It is practically unbreakable,"

Tony answered, his voice filled with absolute confidence.

"The energy shields and the cooling systems are completely flawless. Sam, we could fly this battleship directly into the center of the sun, and the temperature wouldn't even melt the paint."

Sam slowly nodded, a sharp, clever smile growing on his face.

This was exactly what he needed.

The universe was massive, and the remaining Infinity Stones were hidden far away on dangerous planets.

But with Tony's incredible new ship, they wouldn't have to wait for the mad titan Thanos to come to Earth.

They could finally take the fight directly to the stars.

Sam stood up and looked at his friend.

"I want to test it,"

Sam said, his eyes shining with curiosity.

"I want to take the battleship for a quick trip into space right now."

Tony blinked, looking a little surprised.

"Right now? Who are you going to take as your crew?"

"Just me,"

Sam smiled.

"I will go alone. Well, not completely alone. I am going to bring Little D and Little H with me. They are very helpful."

Tony nodded. He walked Sam down to the massive underground bunker where the new battleship was hidden.

The ship was absolutely beautiful. It was huge, sleek, and glowed with smooth silver Asgardian metal.

Inside the main control room, Tony pointed to the complex pilot seat.

Little D zoomed over to the control panel.

"Alright, little D,"

Tony said, pressing a few buttons.

"This is the steering. This is the shield. And this big button right here is the warp drive. Do you understand?"

Little D nodded happily. She spun in a quick circle.

"D understand!"

Her advanced brain downloaded the entire ship's manual in less than a second.

Flying this massive battleship was incredibly easy for her.

"She has got it,"

Sam smiled, patting Tony's shoulder.

"I will be back very soon."

Tony stepped off the ship, and the heavy doors closed securely.

Sam sat in the captain's chair. Little H stood next to him excited, while Little D took control of the ship.

"Hulk… Space!"

With a powerful, silent hum, the battleship lifted off.

It flew straight up, passing through the clouds and breaking out into the dark, cold vacuum of space.

"Alright, Little D,"

Sam ordered calmly.

"Let's test the warp drive. Just a short jump."

Little D pressed the glowing warp button.

Suddenly, everything outside the window turned into a blinding blur of light.

A massive wormhole opened up, pulling the ship inside.

But as the ship traveled through the wormhole, something very strange happened.

Sam's powerful Golden Core suddenly reacted to the intense pressure of the warp space. His body grew incredibly hot.

Then, a sudden, sharp feeling hit him.

The Mind Stone resting inside his soul, and the Reality Stone fused to his flying sword, suddenly went completely dead.

For one terrifying second, it felt like the two stones were entirely cut off from the universe. They lost their connection to reality.

But a moment later...

*Snap.*

The stones quickly reconnected.

But the energy they pulled in felt completely different.

It felt foreign and strange.

The blinding light faded. The ship came to a sudden, smooth stop.

Sam stood up from his chair. He closed his eyes and used his massive divine sense to feel the space around him.

His eyes snapped wide open.

"We are not in our universe anymore,"

Sam whispered in pure shock.

The cosmic energy, the stars, and the laws of magic felt entirely different.

The warp drive and his own powerful Qi had somehow pushed them completely out of their home reality.

They had traveled into a brand new universe.

Sam looked out the large front window.

Floating right in front of the battleship was a massive, beautiful planet.

It had no land. It was completely covered in deep, endless blue water.

Sam stared at the water planet, feeling a deep pull of curiosity. He really wanted to explore it.

But he shook his head.

"Not yet,"

Sam said to himself.

"I am not prepared for a new universe today. My family is waiting for me back home."

Sam looked down at the control panel.

"Little D, can we go back?"

Sam asked.

Little D nodded.

"D can bring you back home, Master."

A screen popped up. It showed that Little D had perfectly saved the exact coordinates of their travel.

She knew exactly which wormhole pattern they needed to use to travel back and forth safely.

"Perfect,"

Sam smiled, feeling incredibly relieved.

"Take us home, Little D."

The robot beeped again.

The warp drive powered up, and with another flash of blinding light, they jumped back through the space between universes.

It was incredibly easy.

They were back in their own reality in just a few seconds.
