The following morning, Lucian woke up abruptly from his sleep as he heard a banging noise on his door. He already knew why the person behind the door was hitting it so hard. He got up from the bed and opened the door to his master's face.
"You have ten minutes to do whatever you need to do and get out here, unless you want to be dragged out" the young lady said before leaving.
A few minutes later, Lucian prepared himself and went outside.
The moment his master saw him, she began to walk towards where the boulder was located. A few minutes later, they arrived at the boulder the boy stood on the previous day.
"Just like yesterday, climb and stand. But today, not with your hands open…"
"But on one leg."
"Whaaaattt? One wha—"
"What were the rules?" the young lady immediately summoned a heavy walking stick and threatened the boy.
"No questioning."
"Good. Good. Now get up there."
Lucian climbed onto the boulder and took a deep breath before standing on one leg. His master, on the other hand, went ahead to summon the beach chair and sat back, relaxed.
Lucian stood there for almost an hour and was beginning to feel tired when an idea popped into his head. In fact, it didn't just pop up. It was a suggestion from the system.
"What if it doesn't work? What will we do?"
[Might be my idea, yes. But there's no 'we' here.]
Lucian watched his master from above the boulder and decided to do it. He dropped his raised leg and sat on the boulder to rest.
Or maybe that was what he thought.
Before his left leg could land on the boulder, an arrow pierced through it as the boy fell into wails of pain.
"Don't forget the rules of the jungle, or you die miserably," Lucian's master said before getting onto the boulder.
She took out a healing potion and poured it onto the wound before pouring the rest down the boy's throat.
"You should be fine in five minutes. Hurry and get up there."
A few minutes later, the young boy was back on the boulder with one leg hanging and the other standing firm.
Lucian stood in that position for almost four hours. Due to his experience points feature, he was able to gain additional experience from what he had gone through the previous day, which helped him adapt quickly.
"On two legs," the young lady said to the boy, and he did as he was told.
He stood under the sun for another hour. After that, he went to prepare supper for that evening.
Lucian continued this routine for ten continuous days. This time, the young lady decided to add running to the training. Lucian would run continuously without stopping for a few hours. When the sun came up, he would stand on the boulder without a break until evening.
This routine continued, and Lucian gradually gained experience. Sometimes, he wondered if he was truly being trained because all he did was run and stand. But after noticing the changes his body had undergone, he began to appreciate the young lady for training him.
"You remember what your first few days in the woods were like?" the young lady asked Lucian as they sat to eat breakfast in the evening.
"Maybe," he replied.
"A word?"
"I was helpless, desperate, and heartbroken," Lucian replied.
"Good. Your training tomorrow is the direct phase two of what happened there," the young lady said with a devilish smile.
"Good luck to you," she added before walking away.
