I had just made my plans to the ladies in the family clear, including Celine who had undoubtedly been trying to worm her way between Waverly and me. It was supposed to be perfect— it had been. The baffled look on their faces when I announced I'd be serving as a lecturer in the academy was simply priceless.
But the joy of dispelling any malicious thoughts they might have towards her during that period of time did not last long.
"Rose… is missing?"
The maid who had scurried off to search for my sister came back huffing and breathing on top of her lungs. I could see the dread etched deeply on her face— a dread that, soon enough, my very own face mirrored.
"What do you mean the balcony doors have been completely shattered from the outside?" The authoritative voice of my father boomed at that moment, causing the poor maid to shrink back in fear.
