The screech came from behind us. Luna Lynn emerged from the shadows of the doorway with a face pale and contorted with accusation. Sloane was right behind her, hands on her hips as she sashayed.
"My son would never sleep with his cousin!" Lynn blurted out, her hands trembling as she clutched a lace handkerchief. "He was a boy of virtue! How dare you besmirch the memory of the dead to cover for your own failures?"
I looked at her and only saw her hypocritical tongue dancing behind those lips. Everyone knew Jake was anything from being "a boy of virtue." He was far from it. He slept with anything in a skirt and was well known across all the clubs in the High Class Region.
"They were sleeping together, Lynn. They had been for months. I know this because I caught them myself the night of the murder. I saw them in the garage. They ended up moving to the east wing where Selene saw them too. That is why they were caught unaware. That is why they couldn't fight back."
