"So… how is she? Waverly?" I asked, the question slipping out before I could stop it.
Austin hesitated. "She is composed, Kaeren. But her sister... Tasha has been making quite a scene regarding the jewelry selection. She insisted on wearing the Evermont heirloom sapphires."
I let out a harsh, dry laugh. "Of course she did. Greed is a family trait, apparently. Did you give them to her?"
"No. I told her they were reserved for the Prince's mate. She wasn't pleased."
"Good. Let her be angry. It'll give her something to talk about other than $300 million." I dismissed the tailor and turned to Austin. "Is the security tight? I want Enforcers at every exit. If the mastermind is in that room tonight, I want them to feel the walls closing in."
"The palace is a fortress tonight, Kaeren. No one gets in or out without a blood-scan."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. It was time. The final act of the charade.
